When I download some things, I unzip file and there is only picture of arrow pointing down... what do I do next? 2. It really works great here at Simtrop, but the help forums for it, were plagued with tech issues and moderators at their last nerve. The main problem seems to be, too many major content websites, that are geared towards IE user's and not F2 friendly. F2 is actually packed with much better features than IE. Hummph,....go figure?!

I love your concept nkfriedrich. It is the natural evolution of many cities, villages and even counties. Columbus, Ohio has slowly merged with many surrounding cities; Grove City, Dublin, etc. Of course many CJ's already express this effect in various, creative displays. I love my Grids, but I have always just as you nkfriedrich, experimented with conurbation. My favorite thing is to use mountainous landscapes and a city's financial gains, for land reclaimation. Using a natural, logical and realistic development style. As your city grows it reaches out into the level lowlands. Maybe it but up against a river and begins to stretch out narrowly along it's banks, next it stretches boney fingers of civilization in between the mountians rocky branches, while slowly some investers pay high prices for leveling and blasting along these roots. I would say, winding a great story around how conurbation effects a village on a personal level, would be much more appealing to read. Let your story evolve with the games evolution, type deal.

Okay, I started digging into this one, to see what it really is about. Not much on it yet. Screenshots do load now at that link posted above. This is exactly what you think it is. It is a SimCity Lite version. A complete re-hash of all things SimCity3 and 4, minus what will NOT fit on the DS version. Nothing new to add. This is actually a cash-in by EA Games, on the Wii craze. They are simply taking one aspect of SC(create and destroy cities) and using that to gain some of the Wii market share. THere may be more to this later, but from the screenies this is all there is so far. I do see a hint to viewing lots independently. Like in a list or something. I do not realistically see us creating custom content on our DS's however. lol. DS and Wii= Nintendo partner with EA on SC franchise. Side note: I can assure you all, that someone who works for EA visits Simtropolis, at least occasionally. They see us, they hear us, so why do they ignore us? We are a very small portion of EA's massive audience. Would an EA rep like to comment here please? Officer goes back to his car and drives away. I am still standing there, not realizing yet, that this officer has just let me go. I didn't even tell him thank you. I was still in shock. I got to looking this stuff up and it also shows that my last traffic citation was 15 years ago. Wow! I hadn't realized it had been that many years. More wow! So I get on a four lane major highway here in Ohio and deliberately pass right by a state trooper, doing 68 in a 60 zone. Not a flinch from the trooper. I do it again to a state trooper who radar gunned me. I didn't hit the breaks and just kept doing about 68mph(consistantly). Not a flinch from that officer either. Wow again! This is cool stuff right? My driving record: No accidents, not even a parking ticket. I always wear a seat belt and not because it's the law, but because I feel they are necessary. I also view driving as "no game", but more of a performance. That's something else I found out this week. In Germany, all drivers consider driving a performance art and because of this, they take it very seriously and even though, there is no posted speed limit on the autobahn in Germany, they have much much less traffic accidents and deaths than any one highway, in the USA. My 99 cents: I cannot speak for movie stars or game developers, but I definitely have and have been given the right to speak for many musicians and their music. By now you all know me as that annoying guy. Well, I am also a freelance music publicist, on retainer to three bands at present. Indie/Underground only. I support local, regional, or anything that is minor label or no label. I do this because these bands cannot afford such extravagance normally. I get my music for free, because it is an integral part of generating publicity. I spend alot of time at events and clubs, helping the bands get situated, paid and even play stage hand if I must. Is it fun and games? No. It's fun if you enjoy doing it, but it is definitely serious business backstage and beyond that. To this day, I haven't run into any underground or indie band that is getting rich. Far from it actually. I have a band staying in my spare rooms for an upcoming event in August, because they could never afford motel rooms, eats, gas, etc., all in one trip. If you P2P the majors, you are taking money from that major label and studio, but you are also taking royalties directly away from the artist. I learned my lessons from Saving Jane. The band nearly kicked my rear for some of my off the wall comments, but instead they gave me a sound education on why they have no rights, with their very own music! Yeah, EMI, Sony, Victory, BMG, on and on; they are out for money and they step on whomever they must to get that money, but when you pirate music from them, you are still taking money from the bands you claim to support and enjoy. If you are low income and cannot afford CD's or 99cent tracks off the web? Think about this; 90% of those musicians are just as poor as you are. Pay the 99 cents.

I posted a thread here in off-topic a month or so back and thought it was okay. I looked through Simtrop's archives and sure enough, my topic was similar to other topics that had been allowed to go on endlessly. I then started requesting webmasters, to give me their personal web definition of internet spam. Guess what? No one has a clear answer! I got all sorts of answers and none were the same for any website. EXAMPLE: This forum has posted topics about a website that let's you buy advertising for 25 cents a pixel and the teenager who came up with the site is now worth millions. Simtropolis rolled right along with that thread and even mods got in on it. No one tagged the topic as spam?! So, after finding that spam is actually an undefined and confusing piece of meat, all across the board and beyond, I carefully SPAMMED the Off-Topic thread here at Simtrop. I shamelessly plugged an aggregate website and how it made me a chunk of money. I was actually shocked to find out it was not allowed? Even though there are many similar topics that go on endlessly and unchecked. Our newspaper solved this issue, by letting me modify their forum. We now have at our website, a 'Shameless Plug Forum' and anything goes! I can go there and advertise my used lawn mower or a yard sale, or a new band I like. Like I said anything and everything is allowed! YES! it worked wonders! The moderators no longer need to police the website for spam, because everyone is allowed to spam in the appropriate thread we created! You can clearly see by it's title: 'Shameless Plug Forum' , what it is all about. You either go in and read it, post, question or comment. Or, you simply don't go in that thread. Spam problem vanished immediately! SkiGeek: "You said in that other thread, I should have known better." Well, okay maybe I should have, but I was conducting an experiment, in my usual, shocking and not so eloquent way. I am sorry for doing it to Simtrop, but heck, this website is the most active site I know of and I knew the moderators would act promptly. Truly, honestly, it is impossible to know better or worse, or what. Now I am really not sure what Off-Topic actually means anymore. Anyhoo, If someone can lead me to the one and true definition for Internet Spam, I would love to read it. So far, literally dozens of mods have either ignored me, gave me vague answers or simply admitted, they aren't really sure at all. SPAM Guidelines:

It is actually simple, but I didn't see it and neither did ...oh, gosh at least 100's of moderators all over the world. You're a really smart person you are. The real problem with this whole thing, for me I suppose, is this website is part of my MySpace address. And it's not about others buying from my storefront and me getting paid. Again, my older thread was mistakenly locked, because it is about setting up a store that only you buy from yourself. 'Not commercial gain' but useful personal tool. A way to discount you're game purchases as an individual, who plays and purchases video games. If you wish to read the locked thread(I can't direct you to it), it clearly stated it was about others making their own program and never paying full price for any purchase again, in their entire lives, forever. Everything you buy, you only and no customers, is 10% off forever and ever. I was doing you, my friends a favor. And for the first time, I am hurt and yes shocked, that some of Simtrop is treating this issue the way it has been. Even the website in question, sent all of us members an e-mail, telling us that the best thing we can do with our store is, be our own best customer. It's a smart idea.

I enjoy Shmail's JENX large clinic.and small clinic. I need hospital that takes up only 2x3 tiles and serves about 3,500 patients. The Shmail's series of BATs are small lots, economical, education and civic BATs. Although, I wish they were higher on the amount of patients and students, but they're cool for medium cities, like nobodies business and they save space and trim city costs nicely.

I love both of those threads personally, but they take up more room than any CJ or Spam forum. The trick to making a spam forum work is to limit the amount of posts that stay archived to 40 or so. Just like a ticker message screen. The newspaper uses the exact same software as Simtropolis, so I know it can be done. It really does not matter if anyone reads it or not, it simply gives buttholes like me a place to believe they got away with spam. It actually works quite well. That way those other buttholes that are attacking and hacking us, will possibly be appeased. just maybe, they will wander in there and leave the rest of the website alone for change. It can't hurt to try it.
