  1. Hello everyone, I was bored so I was thinking about a topic about the Netherlands, as I am a Dutchman. I'm from the city of Maastricht, the most southern city in the country. The Netherlands' geographic position, makes the country a distribution country. With the port of Rotterdam and Schiphol Airport, it's an economical strong country. In the 17th century, the country was one of the most important countries in the world, with some large trade cities as Amsterdam. In that time, Belgium was also a part of the Netherlands. Well, let's start with some pictures. I hope you all post pictures of this beautiful country. A map: Amsterdam, Damrak. Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands The ship Amsterdam, a replica of the old VOC-ship. Amsterdam skyline: Bikes: The Hague, binnenhof, the seat of gouvernment. The Hague skyline, with some important gouvernemental buildings. Rotterdam, Erasmus Bridge. Rotterdam skyline: The port of Rotterdam: Utrecht, 4th city of the country. A central situated city. Central station, the largest train station in the Netherlands (number of tracks) A polder: Maastricht, my home town and oldest town in the Netherlands. Windmills: Hope you liked it, and post your fave pics of the Netherlands! Take care, Justin aka Uumke

  3. The Story of Den Minerwal 10.000 years ago, the first men settled near a river. They lived of the animals in the forest, and of the fish in the river. The people lived on the west-bank of the river, and it was very difficult to cross. After 1000 years, the first people crossed the river, but they never came back. 2000 years ago, the romans came. They built walls on the west bank, because they were the enemys of the people on the east bank. They found precious metals in the water of the river, so they called the river "Mineralis". The metals were shipped to the port or laborated in the town. There was a big market in the town, were cereals and metals were traded. On the east-bank, the kings of Servatius built walls to. The romans didn't like this and they declared war to the town on the east bank. They called the town Brutopolis, named after Brutus who killed Ceasar. The romans called their own town ; Mineralopolis. Because of the trade, it was a rich town. 1200 years ago, the dukes of Andantus took over Mineralopolis. Since then, the town was called Den Minerwal. They built defense walls, a church and a watch tower. They were still in war with Brutostadt, and after every attack, they stole everything in this town, so they became rich,. Brutostadt was very poor, the only "farm" was in the centre of the town. A lot of people died because of a lack of food and diseases. They didn't have any money to bury the dead people outside the town. So, here is: Den Minerwal: and Brutostadt: I hope you like it. The next update will give you an image of the wars and city expansion. Greetzzzz, Justin a.k.a. Uumke

Update 1 - War and expansion Hey everyone, thank you very much for your replies! Now I'm going to talk about a war, around 1450, between Den Minerwal and Brutostadt. Some people from Brutostadt were digging up gold and other metals from the river, but the people from Minerwal, especcialy the Duke, sir Jan Pieterszoon Coenen, didn't like this, so they decided to attack Brutopolis. They threw, with the help of catapults, some fire bombs. And this is the result: The biggest part of Brutostadt was burned down, but the church and the the monument were spared. All the money was taken away and many people died. But with financial help of Servatius, they rebuilt most of the city. They also built a city hall and defense walls. Now they're safe! At last! The cemetary has grown a lot, but the people of Brutopolis weren't allowed to built outside the walls. And what was Den Minerwal doing? They built a city hall, a monument for sir Jan Pieterszoon Coenen, extra defense walls, and a church, that also serves as a watch tower, to keep an eye on Brutostadt. And all that, built with help of the money of Brutstadt. Sorry for my bad english! I hope you all like it greeetzzzz,, Uumke

  13. Maastricht, Capital of Limburg Hello everyone! This is going to be my first attempt to build a real-life city. I'm still downloading a lot of buildings, and I also need some batters who are prepared to bat some extraordinary buildings of the city. The town is my (almost) home town. Here some facts and pictures. Maastricht. This town is the Capital of Limburg, the most southern province of the Netherlands. It is also the most south city of the Netherlands. Around the year 0, the Romans built a bridge across the Maas river (la Meuse). After the collapse of this bridge,in the 13th century, it was replaced by the current st. Servaasbrug. Nowadays , Maastricht is a town with around 120.000 inhabitants, that's famous for it's "Maastricht treaty" , where plans of the Euro-currency were written down and signed. A lot of people also now it for it's TEFAF: the European fine arts fair. It's also a student city: It has an University, a conservatory, a theater academy and an arts-academy. It has a lot of squares too. Vrijthof is the most well known, where we can find the St. Johns church and the St. Servaaskerk, named after the sacred person that died in the town. Nowadays, there are a lot of modern buildings like the Bonnefanten museum, the Colonel and Leeuwenborgh college. It has a lot of traffic problems to: the A2 had a lot of tailback problems and the bridges are mostly congested to. The town is sometimes called "Petit Paris" as it looks very bourgundian and the way of living is also very bourgundian. Well enough. Some pictures: the Market, with the city hall ( I need batters) Vrijthof: City walls: The station: The colonel: The bridge: Bonnefantenmuseumneed batters!! And: Now I"m going to download a lot, to show you some of my work later! Thanks for watching, take care, Justin A.K.A. Uumke

I call it Heuvelderland, that means something like "hilly country". You could call it an irrealistic Maastricht, or Hilly Holland. I'm going to make it very burgundian: so a lot of French aspects here! And....some hills! So, here are the first pics: Some stats: Marskmonden-37.600-13.400-6.600 Umandië-16.700-6.500-4.850 Hartke-8.675-2.650-3.400 Huynstadt-8.650-1.500-2.650 Rechterveld-1.350-7.500-1.050 See you next time
