  1. Fabioc, every update of yours is simply amazing. Incredibly believable cities!!!
  2. chocolatemax285: Thank you! I'm learning a lot from all of you. metasmurf: Thanks to you too. I'm planning another update for early next week (I'll be working on that this weekend). It will possibly include more geographical notes, since Mayors Krint, Lopek and Ondrej have gone into an expedition beyond their western and northwestern frontiers and are claiming those lands to the country. So possibly I'll need to reform the region and its governement a little more to accommodate those newcomers.
  3. The Islands of the Gods

elkie: A am not a god, and I'm not telling you to worship me. YAH is a Sim god. quote> That's pretty clear. I'm just complaining about the stairway... that's a tough one.
  4. Metropolis - A cj by metasmurf

Very nice place . Keep going...
  5. The Islands of the Gods

I'll tell you something: if I have to take that stairway to worship your god, I'll probably be a heretic for the rest of my life. YAH: WAH
  6. Isla de Sue

Mr. Mayor is taking care of too many things, it seems, but he/she has forgotten to pick up the trash. Or is that the result of last night's celebration? Waste Management Department: take notice...
  7. Hi all! Shadow_Assassin, r0g3r, Fabiocb, superchad: Thank you all for you compliments. I appreciate them very much. I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Ynterboy: it does takes a lot of time... I know it now. Cjah: Hey, 9/10! Wow! That's a lot more than I expected, really. Thanks! jacqulina: Thanks jacqulina. I also love the close ups. Actually, they're what keeps the storyline in order in my mind. So you'll keep seeing them around here a lot. bazzuka: Thanks to you too. Here is next update... Update 006 Image hosted by imageshack.us Remember the other day, when I was heading to the Atom Green? Ha, ha, ha. I'm still laughing my life out. Well, that's because I met the owner of The Laughing Ogre Bar and Grill in there
  8. Fabiocb, your city is amazingly beautiful, but those shopping centers are simply phenomenal. I can easily imagine I'm looking at the real thing. You have done an impressive work. Keep it up.
  9. Apollo County

Nice region! Obviously you're giving out Moon-related names. Interesting choice.
  10. Update 05 Now it's time to turn our attention to city life, where a simple helicopter can be the fastest way to move around (if you have the money to pay for the chopper or, as in my case, the backup from advertisers'contributions). Barrunto's transit system is quite efficient, and the Transportation Office is always on the lookout to keep the network up and running, but there's nothing better than the
  11. nycsc4, sorchin, sloppet, Fabiocb, Eastwinn: thanks a lot for your comments, I hope you like what's to follow in a few moments and later on. pjot: the only thing I have done to better the end of rivers is to keep plopping into the sea until it blends more or less with the water texture: Image hosted by imageshack.us Creating rivers using SimCity tools isn't that great either because you end up with waves in the river instead of a river flow, and you can't do anything if you want them over highlands. Nothing's perfect. I also tried to plop rivers using Pegasus stream kit, but jeronij's mod is more flexible for long watercourses (though not that cute). aleking: Oh wow, thanks for suggesting me that rock mod. It's really cool! It mixes very well with maxis terrain and the snow. My only complain is that the mesas cliffs become too rocky... nothing to worry too much about; I can plant some more bushes to hide the imperfections a little bit. Mesa before Peg limestone Image hosted by imgcity.net Mesa after Peg limestone Image hosted by imgcity.net Update 04 A few more facts extracted from SIMPROPOLIS INTELLIGENCE AGENCY (SIA) SIA -- The World Factbook -- Talvakia Image hosted by imageshack.us Introduction BACKGROUND A land of geographical diversity, the region of Talvakia remained uninhabited until very recent times, when the first explorers from the Far West (that was the name of the country) visited its coasts in search of the Legendary Talking Whale. Of course they never found it, but it took them 40 years to find their way back home. During that time, they established a temporary settlement in the island of Mesmer, from where they commanded the exploration of the lands across the Barrunto Sound and claimed them for the crown of Hispadora (the Royal House). After the explorers went back home, all settlements were totally abandoned. Many years later, during the reign of King Chretin Labestia, king officials returned to the area, fortified the entire island of Tanatos, and converted it into a giant prison for the exiles of Hispadora (as the Court used to call all those opposed to the Rolling Ruler). The King and his supporters thought that was a good idea because no one would dare to escape from there, fearing --what else?-- the Legendary Talking Whale. When the immates found the legend was but a lie --accidentally discovering the now extinct farting fish in the way-- they escaped en mass to the shores of the Barrunto Plain and spread all around the place. They remained hidden in the forests of Barrunto until the king's death a couple of years later. When that happened, the exiles came out of the woods and founded Barrunto, the first city of Talvakia. Geography LOCATION somewhere in the middle of nowhere, north of the south, east of the west, south of the north, west of the east, and slightly under the sky. CLIMATE temperate; mild windy winters, easy breezy springs, cool busy summers, and cocky neat autumns; rainy today, sunny tomorrow. TERRAIN small, scattered plains almost everywhere; glaciated mountains in the northwest; rugged mountains here and there broken by fertile valleys; southern coast of the bay deeply indented by minifjords. NATURAL RESOURCES iron ore, nickel, zinc, copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, diatomite, silver, fish, timber, coal, natural gas (usually they don't report their supplies of chocolate cakes, potato chips, corn flakes, bubble gum, and other similar delicatessen). NATURAL HAZARDS rock slides near steep mountains, cone slides in the forest; waterspouts can occur in Barrunto Sound and the Nalio Strait. ENVIRONMENT - CURRENT ISSUES air pollution and resulting acid rain affecting western plains; vehicle emissions impacting on pedestrian activity; some waters becoming contaminated due to agricultural, industrial, and forestry activities; deforestation. 12. Very beautiful city, Fabio. Definitely, you're giving your cities a lot of time.
  13. Rabid Tangerine: Thanks! Now you have a complete overview of Talvakia. bokrif: I'm using Teirusu Snowcapped Terrain Mod, https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?mode=details&show=320 and cycledogg trees, https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=all&startrow=1&category=default&sortby=DatePosted&show=12&Str=cycledogg I'm not using the Columbus terrain mod, just the trees. I like the Columbus terrain, but I find too much green everywhere is too dull. The original Maxis terrain, though not that good or beautiful, gives more variation, and I prefer variation. cycledogg trees, on the other hand, are simply awesome, perfect. I'm also using jeronij's plopable water, https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=13308 and some of Goldiva's tropical stuff, https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=all&category=default&sortby=DatePosted&show=12&Str=goldiva pjot: Hey, thanks! I can't say I learned them fast. It took me a lot of time for the last two or three weeks to get what you see (and it's just a 1025x1025 region). Actually, I switched to plopable water because the ingame tools were giving me a terrible headache to delineate the rivers. Maybe next time I could do better. (Does anybody know how to simplify the linking thing? They look ugly that way )

  15. Rabid Tangerine: Thanks for your words. I promise I'll never complain about my English again (I'll leave that to the others). Sloppet, jarnomeidema, Yterboy: Thanks for your encouraging words. I hope you all like the following update. Image hosted by imageshack.us A View From the Sky Before the stories of this region start to unfold, it is advisable, my dear friends and foes, to take a look at Talvakia's geography. The best and quickest way to do so is to take a plane and circle around through every corner of the land. So we head to Barrunto's International Airport
