  1. Lariviera - Urban Stylings

Hello everyone! Welcome back, enjoy your stay Traffic_Jam, gurrgkud, Quack, U.S.K.C. and jacqulina...thank you so much for your nice words! I hope you like this update U.S.K.C., I agree with you that the pictures are big, but one of the things I told myself I would do with this Cj is use Mosaic's to help capture the feel Im going for with each city. I find small pictures of just a localized area are bland hehe GingerBlokey, I like the church too Update #3: Comrose With Camrose, I'm trying to create a suburb that's battling for it's identity: Is it a suburb of a large metropolitan area? Or is it a semi-rural community? I'm not sure if I've managed to get this look yet but any feedback you could provide would be much appriciated! 3.1: General City View (subject to change of course haha) At the top-left of the City image above, you'll see a nice community carved into the side of a hill. The following pictures illustrate it's construction: 3.2: The Highway goes in. 3.3: An interesting intersection is being constructed. 3.4: Another view of the same intersection a little while later. 3.5: After the click. (EDIT: I've noticed this pic isn't rendered properly. I'm not at home anymore so I'll leave it up anyway and fix it tomorrow! Sorry guys ) 3.6: A mosiac of a different part of Camrose....we'll be seeing more of this area in the next update! In the next update, we'll focus more closely on the rest of Camrose. Some of the highlights will be a nice commercial area, some interesting use of the NAM, and some rail/industry. Stay Tuned!

Update #2: Eccles Eccles, nestled between two winding rivers, is a modest, sleepy town with a population of roughly 9000 people. It`s not quite complete, but I hope you like it! 2.1: An aerial shot of Eccles 2.2: A nice panorama showcasing the small (but savy!) High-Tech community and a large Radio Observation Dish (at the bottom) 2.3: St. Eccles Church on the Cliffs of Eccles 2.4: Another panorama showcasing the Casino, Transitway and a nice forest/residential area. 2.5: A shot of Eccles Municipal Park, the Monorail to the rest of the region (along with a Park-n-Ride) and some commercial/residential zones. That`s all I have time for tonight... Tomorrow I`ll be posting some images from the vibrant city of Camrose! I hope to see you all there!
  3. Lariviera - Urban Stylings

Welcome to Lariviera! I've been playing Sim City since the beginning! But I never really took the game seriously until I saw what some of my peers have done with the game, in terms of city design and style. Therefore, I have decided to create my own Cj, borrowing ideas from my peers adding my own personal twist. My main goal, besides creating a beautiful looking Cj, is to try and create something original and fresh, yet realistic and modest. We must keep in mind, few regions in the world are completely dominated by skyscrapers! I am using many mods, including the NAM, the tunnel and slope mod, and the radical ordinance mod. If you see anything you like, I'll be happy to let you know what it is That being said, the region itself is ' Costal Highlands ' by comdude21. It's a pretty balanced region, with some rivers, a nice coast line, a few plains and some more rugged areas: perfect for sculpting a beautiful region!! If you have any questions about anything you see, don't be shy to ask! Thanks for reading my Cj!! On with the show... Update #1: The Region 1.1: A Satellite view of a small portion of Lariviera. 1.2: A Transit view of the same image as above. That`s just a small taste of whats to come! Stay tuned for the next update...
  4. MallowTheClouds Maps

It worked! Thanks Mallow! Ill keep you posted on my Ottawa region
  5. MallowTheClouds Maps

Hey guys! First off, I'd like to say Mallow, I love your maps! Keep up the great work! Anyway, the point of my post. I live in Ottawa and I've been dying to do an Ottawa re-creation in SimCity for the longest time. So when I realized Mallow had a huge map up, I couldnt resist trying it out. So I downloaded the map (along with the import.dat file) and got started. I placed the config file and the jpeg in a folder in my Regions directory and I placed the import.dat file in my My Documents/SimCity4/Plugins directory. When I boot up the game, load the region, press CTRL-ALT-SHIFT R and select the jpeg, NOTHING HAPPENS!!! I've tried multiple times, placing the dat file in different Plugin folders, removing all my other plugins, etc etc but nothing is working for me. I was just wondering if any of you have had a similar problem and if any of you knew what I could do to make it work. Thank you for you help in advance!
  6. Sculpting Columbia River

jeronij awesome work. Maxis should hire you for sim city 5 but I have a question, is your city functional? It looks good but what are the commute times like? anyway ttyl good job again
  7. I have yet to be able to get my sims to use parking garages. I suspect it may have something to do with my extensive bus network. Is this correct?> Or is there some other reason that Ive overlooked.... Also, while my sims have started using the el-trains now that my city is becoming more populated, I find that bus travel over long distances has gone up 10fold.
  8. kmannkoopa, would it be too much to ask of you to post a few screenies of the city where your sims prefer the trains over the highways? hehe thanks in advance
  9. Could part of the problem be that my sims simply live too far from the commercial/industrial jobs that they dont bother travelling/cant find those jobs, regardless of how much transit there is? Whenever I use the route query tool on 95% of my commercial and 100% of my industrial buildings, there are NO links to any part of my city. Therefore, is it possible that my zones are too far from each other, and how could I correct this?
  10. Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster hehe I have a question. Ive been reading up on mass transport threads (Greyveils is the most noteworthy) trying to develop some effective mass transit schemes. Most of the citys I end up building have a fairly extensive bus systems in each of the Industrial, Commercial and Residential zones. Each zone has a main artery and feeders out to the tips of the zone. I try to connect my zones by *as few* roads as possible. Instead, I setup central El-Train hubs in each of the zones and link these up to the zones bus systems. I setup a passenger train system for exiting the city to the rest of the region only. Furthermore, I have a highway, usually running down the middle of my cities and only have 1 overpass per city. My problem, is that my Sims LOVE to use the bus system. So much so, that they completely neglect any of the other mass transit options. They completely avoid the El-train and the passenger trains.....instead the busses go straight for the highway and off to the rest of the region. After several cities of trying different strategies to encourage mass transit, I just couldnt figure it out. So I removed a section of highway making it useless to get out to the region. While I finally managed to get my sims to use the train, hardly any of them do.But still NONE of them take the El-Train to get around town. Still busses. Its really frustrating and I dont know what to do. I also noticed, that when I use the transit query tool on my commercial and industrial buildings (which are a decent distance from my residential area) nothing happens....no transit lines on the map, no transit info, nothing. I really am not sure what to do next. Any help/suggestions/info you have would be great! Thanks guy! (PS Im using NAM)
