Go to System Preferences, then Accessibility. In the left, select "Mouse & Trackpad," then click the "Mouse Options" button. Uncheck "Scrolling." If you have a trackpad, I assume the steps are basically the same. This disables the scrolling entirely for all apps, but does prevent all those pesky random zooms. Best solution I've come up with. Hope it helps!
