  1. Thanks for everyone. I got the game now, and it sure is different from SC4. But it also seems fun, even though I started at least three towns before I managed to establish somewhat self sustaining community. It seems harder than most of the modern city builders out there. And it's only a good thing. I'm having some lag issues because I maxed the graphics. I think the game looks just awful with lower settings but with max settings it's really nice to look at. I am planning to get a new gpu anyway, so this shouldn't be a problem for long.
  2. Thanks, both of your comments were very enlightening. I actually tried to get the trial but the site just stated that it's not available in my country (Finland). Anyway, I think I will give it a try. The complete edition is just 15€, so even if it wouldn't be my favorite game, I don't loose much. I try to look it as a new game and not to compare it too much with SC4. I don't hold much prejudice against gameplay changes, so I think I'll be fine with it, if the game is fun. I hope the game will find it's place in somewhere between Tropico and CitiesXL.
  3. Hi! I'm a big fan of Sim City 4 (and 2k years back), but I've never acquired the newest Sim City game because of the bad feedback it got during it's release. I'm now wondering if I should still give it a chance. I have Cities XL platinum, and while I have enjoyed it, there's just something missing in that game. So have the problems with Sim City been fixed? 1. I've also read that the maps are very small and you cannot actually build big cities. Is this true? 2. I've also read that in order to get your cities function well, you have to use the multi-player feature and do business with other players. I'm a bit of a lone wolf and the idea of forced mp sounds awful to me. 3. Can you create your own maps and regions and connect your cities like in SC 4 (this was one of the best features in the game IMO)? 4. Anything else you might want to share about the game? Why do you like/dislike it? I know the game is only 10 euros on origin at the moment, but I would still like to know these things before I buy it. Thanks for anyone who replies!
  4. Cities XL Platinum: Can I change building styles?

Thanks! This helps a lot. I just realized that with the UI mod I can choose to place buildings individually, so I can choose not to have the snow roofed retailers. By the way, does anyone know why my virus control doesn't let me visit XL nations page? Is there actually something wrong with the page or is my virus control just being hyper active?
  5. Hi! I just acquired Cities XL platinum and started a couple of cities. I see that the low density retailers occasionally spawn snow roofed buildings that seems to belong to the mountain pack and I don't like it at all. Is there a way to forbid these buildings to show up? They look really awkward in a tropical beach town I'm trying to create! There are also couple of other buildings I don't like (like the weird futuristic skilled worker house). Can I somehow alter the data on which buildings the building slot will spawn?
