Stark Expo, Metropolis, Gotham City, Starling City, Bludhaven
zigen1111 posted a topic in SC13 City Journals
Hi everyone! First post here I posted this a long time ago (around march 2013) in the EA Simcity forums http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9366013.page but it is only now that I had the pleasure of finding this site. So I decided to copy and also share my cities here. Tried my hand at recreating some of the cities from the Marvel/DC Universe and just wanted to share them to my fellow Simcity fans. All these are done by myself through legit gameplay and NOT in sandbox mode. Enjoy! Since I am a huge Iron Man fan, I really wanted to create the Stark Expo for my first city. I had the idea in mind and was quite eager to try it even before the game came out. It is a high tech/educational city with the layout based on Tony Stark's mark VI triangle arc reactor Here's another view of it with the hi tech industry layer One of Tony Stark's quests is to provide a clean and efficient energy source. So as the city grew, I researched many upgrades such as these advanced solar panels I then went into the trading/electronics business and was able to establish a supply line of 3 max processor factories, 2 max tv factories and 1 max computer factory generating a profit of over 5.5M daily and currently over 117M in the treasury Which led me to successfully build and finish my Space Center Great Works and launch my first satellite into orbit! Here's a skyline view of the city with the Empire State (AKA Stark Tower) towering over the rest of the buildings Stark Mansion (tip: Maxisman is very useful once you get his reticulator upgrade, he can extinguish fires practically by himself in seconds) For my second city, I decided to recreate the Dark Knight's Gotham City It is a gambling/industrial city with a seeding criminal underbelly Wayne Enterprises looms over Gotham Harbor Gotham Bridge leading to Arkham Island I just love the dark, gritty feel of this place Let the games begin! And for my third city Metropolis, I wanted to try out a purely residential/tourist city No industry can be found here, so air pollution is practically zero. Which enabled it to grow into a bustling, high wealth city with a population of over 220k It's a bird, it's a plane... oh please, it's traffic Using the Stark Expo's research, Metropolis was able to use gen 2 and eventually, gen 3 nuclear reactors I probably could have had a bigger population, but made a central park in the heart of the city Metropolis Stadium Harbor view of the city and one of my favorite screen shots -
Anybody can make an electronics city, but the real challenge is running it with positive revenue. I am running 4 processor factories, 3 computer factories, 2 TV factories and 1 Omega drone factory in my city. To achieve this, I supplemented my city with gambling. I have 1 Elegant casino, 1 Seek casino and 1 Roman Luck casino which nets me around 1M per day. Tourism is also good with around 85-89K visitors per day with an average profit of 290K daily. Don't mind the negative event profit, it is a bug as I max out my expo center with about 180K in profit. I'm not sure if the airship hangar is correct but it is an absurd amount with 251K tourist riders/day. I am also running a fusion powerplant with the advanced reactor which drives up the city's expenses significantly. The Omega franchises and the Elite Megatower with tourism crown also helps. Mind you, the cash flow fluctuates quite hard but it is still better than always being -60K in the red. I'm curious if anyone else have tried this route and how you have achieved it? I think I can still make a bigger profit if I used all Elegant casinos and switched to the standard reactors. But I like the variety and this city also supplies power to my other cities so I'm leaving it as it is.

As I was planning for a Star Wars theme for my next region, it got me to thinking that EA has the rights to Star Wars. I think it would be an awesome idea if they released a Star Wars pack for one of their next DLC's. Imagine recreating Tatooine, Coruscant, Naboo, and other cities from the galaxy far, far away. Another idea I have is from a sim game that I also had a lot of fun before which is "The Movies". Simcity can have an expansion pack which can enable us to plop a studio, (low/mid/high budget for variety) which you can then add movie sets, writer's offices, actor/actress' trailers, etc, much like in the Amusement Park DLC. This is also inline with the Sims previous expansions like Superstar and Showtime. So make this happen EA and send me the checks later.

Thank you for the kind words and compliments everyone. Happy to know that I inspired a few ideas for you. It's one of the reasons that makes me keep on building. I'm quite particularly fond of that picture as well. I think it showcases the city's multiple levels, very fitting for a futuristic city. -

And finally my two new cities... Starling City: Starling City is home to the vigilante known as "Arrow" The Omega Corporation is receiving rave reviews on their new mysterious product The city turned out to have a cyberpunk/bladerunner type feel to it Bludhaven: Nightwing watches over the streets of Bludhaven at night It is common to see abandoned buildings here taken over by gangs or Omega crackheads I was aiming for a high pop/low wealth city and also wanted to play around with the road system I managed to reach almost 600K population even with the interchange in place and the smallish map. Traffic is excellent as well. Comments/suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you for dropping by, cheers! -
