OK ... The lights are working !! Not sure what the problem was ( or is ) but when I put the same lot with this building into a different city in the same region the lights worked perfectly .I still need to play with the settings in the BAT to see if I can find just the right level to set for realistic apearance in the game ( the first attempt was too dim .. the second too bright ) . I am still not seeing a setting for lights in the PM settings but can work around that for now ... hopefully I will be satisfied enough with the building to send it up to the exchange so others can play with it and give me feedback on what it needs or what they like about it . Thanks to all who responded to help me get things working .

Ok .. got that patch ... installed it re exported the model files and still no light entry in the plugin manager. This is getting frustrating

I went to the simcity.com site to get the patch you suggested and couldn't find any patches at all . Did a site search and got 0 results for nightlight patch ..... is there another place to find it ??? And yes other buildings lights work fine. In looking back at Fosterk's post about the plugin manager entries I don't have an entry in the properties for lights ... true or false ... does this mean the lights aren't being recognized in the model file ??

Ok I finished the building with the target spots and self illuminated text letters and they all showup perfectly in the rendering stage . When I put the lot created with the building into a city the lights don't showup at night . Any idea what would cause this ??

Is there a form of lighting that can be done in gmax that would allow text letter objects to glow as if they had flourescent lighting inside them ? I have a text sign on the outside of a building that I would like to have glow in night viewing , the green letters would have a green glow and the red a red glow . https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//textobj.bmp align=baseline>

I am very used to using Truespace for 3d modelling but Max has an entirely different language for everything . I am working from the tutorial by Phillippbo and losing something in the translation I guess . I have the creation of the basic walls down but when it comes to creating the window openings I am missing a step somewhere . In the tutorial after the wall is created it says to create the window rectangles and then extrude them ... that I have . At this point what I have is a wall and another object that is the window openings but no step to remove the window openings from the wall object ... how do I turn the window opening object into openings in the wall ???? In Truespace I create an object that is the size of the window opening but with more depth and there is an object subtraction tool that removes that area from the wall object . gmax obviously does it in a different way that I am missing somewhere . -

yes ...the TGI for the first texture is 7ab50e44 0986135e ee410100 If I can get them working I was going to see about reserving the ee in the instance number for future projects . -

yes .. I created my files with Fishman ....following Darkman's tutorial . Problems were encountered there but I was able to finally get the fsh files done and set into a dat file in ILive reader but can't see the files anywhere in the lot editor so they can be used . -
I have several texture dat files from the STEX and one I created myself and placed in the plugins folder . When I go to the lot editor to place them in the lots the base and overlay texture menus don't show most of them . Is there something that needs to be done to the lot files or the dat files to make them show in the editor ?
