I dont think there is a difference between adding on a park vs buildling a new one. The only advantage will be that you have more flexibility on how the second park can be placed such as being placed sideways or away from the street.

I have all high density avenue roads for the first half of my roads trickleing down into my city. then the people will end up driving on high density streets.

To check how good your train system is going, double click the train station and on the bottom right, it will have a pop up telling you how long passengers are waiting. It will tell you how many minutes and it will be a certain color. Green = good, yellow = ok, red = bad. to get the wait time lower and get it to a green color, you gotta put more trains/bus/etc. make sure you put your stops in good spaced out dense locations.

traffic is one of the biggest issues with this game. youre not alone. The way traffic works in this game is not realistic and you should oberve how they work. They take the shortest routes. There are a few tips around the forums. set my streets up so that the traffic funnels down to the city. They drive into my main road and it forks where one half the traffic goes to one part of my city the other half goes to the other half of the city it then keeps splitting like a flow chart going down. that has allowed my city to have minimal traffic. Its all about how you set up your roads in your city. a grid city would be ideal but not work well with the AI of the traffic in this game.

the VU TOWER can help handle freights too. you get to see a bunch of trucks go in.

I too dont like the disaster. I decided to switch to sandbox mode and I'm enjoying the game a lot more since.
