I didn't mean it was literally like Tokyo, just in the sense that it is very densely packed. Non of the cities in SC4 were as big as Tokyo either.

For those complaining about city size, you gotta realize this game isn't about filling the map up. The game STARTS when you fill the map up, unlike SC4 where when you filled it up it was over. Every one of those shots, it felt like I was just getting into it when the Beta ended. There is so much more to do even after the map is full, especially when the rest of the content is unlocked.

It doesn't bother me at all. Just less wasted space. SC4 was all pointless expansion for no reason. If it's immersion that bothers you, just pretend it's a different planet just like earth but they build there cities differently. Or maybe even it's just a city that for whatever reason has less square kilometers so they are forced to build up. Just like Tokyo.

That's so cool that land with a view is higher value. Plus that city looks really big.

Lol, you guys will see whatever you want to see I guess and assume whatever you want to assume. This whole forum is just a barrel of laughs.

Well see that stuff is what concerns me, yes its minor polish fix, but its an obvious one. Especially when you consider the size of the maps, its hard to overlook that. So yes, they knew that bug was there, theyve seen it but theyve never had the time to fix it. And this game is already being shipped out. Yes it could very well get a day 1 polish patch (if the networking goes as planned). But the idea this game entered the shipping date before polish just worries the heck out of me, because theyve must of had some serious engine issues to deal with makes me wonder if thats the whole reason for the map sizes. That there is some major flaw with the glassbox engine. The amount some people will read into stuff makes me laugh. It's a beta. You do know that a beta is actually an older version of the game, most likely from months ago right? You're told at the start "this is a beta is does not represent the final version" yet here you are drawing conclusions off it. Regarding the part i put in bold: The game is not out yet =/ BETA is not the game. Its a test to look for major bugs... graphical mistakes are easy to fix and are obviously low priority. And again I say, betas are older versions of the game. How do you know they didn't fix that before the beta even started?

Is the new SimCity a downgrade from SimCity 4?
Wildcat67 replied to Kythlyn's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I don't understand all the complaining. Sure SimCity 4 had bigger maps and local saves etc. etc. But never in my time with Sim City 4 did the city feel alive and evolving let alone a joy to step back and look at. It is a game about creation, and just because I have more room to create doesn't mean anything if when I'm done it doesn't feel like a living, breathing, beautiful thing. In order to get an entire large size city in SC4 into view you had to zoom all the way out. You then lost all detail and it just looked like a bunch of buildings and I never felt like just sitting there watching the city and the interaction between the parts was interesting, because it was all fake. The idea that people actually have places to go, industry and stores actually send out job requests, people actually go to jobs at specific places, and traffic is effected by this is something that sounds like a joy to be creative with. Not to mention power, water, sewer, and garbage being real physical things and not just a number on a graph. Instead of on SC4 where you were just building stuff and it didn't really matter how it was put together all that much, in an effort to improve some numbers on a graph. In SimCity I look forward to trying new things and actually "looking at the city" to see the result, and seeing new unexpected side effects that I hadn't anticipated. You feel most connected to your city when you can fit the whole thing on your screen and still see details, so the size is not a problem to me. I would much rather spend my time building my city vertically then spreading it over a vast area. In essence I would rather build just Manhattan then build a vast sprawling flat city. To me it's about making decisions on an intuitive level, and being rewarded for that decision with what you would expect. Too often in SC4 you would make a decision like "well I have a problem with ____, common sense tells me doing ____ will solve that", and then you would do it and nothing would happen because you didn't satisfy some code buried underneath the game and the game wouldn't take advantage of your solution. If I build a University I don't want some boost to global education behind the scenes, I want to see my citizens go to the University and go home more educated. I just think the improvement vastly outweigh the negatives. -
Would really appreciate some help. I went to the canirunit website at I am above the minimum requirements in everything, but below the recommended in Processor and VideoCard. Do you guys think I will be able to run it SMOOTHLY (Key word). I don't care if the graphics look crappy, but if it stutters then I won't be able to play. Here are my Specs. Intel i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53GHz 3.8 GB RAM Win7 64bit NVidia GeForce GT 540M 1GB, and Intel HD graphics (not used for gaming though I don't think) I would really appreciate any help because I want to pre-order it to get in on the Beta next week, but not if I'm not gonna be able to run it.
