  1. Cloudscape: The Region

Welcome to Cloudscape, the region which spans regions! Cloudscape is a region, which is composed of smaller regions called "sectors". A list of sectors and their cities are in the index in the next post below. The pictures and actual CJ bit is below that. Also, sorry about having to play on low graphics. My computer is not powerful enough to play on medium lighting, and i'll have to wait until July to get another, more powerful one. Please leave feedback, good or bad. I always enjoy a good criticism/debate
  2. Cloudscape: The Region

Alrgiht guys. I'm really sorry I've been inactive for the last few weeks. Life has taken it's toll on me and it looks like my free time is officially over. It doesn't mean I've given up though I'm getting a new laptop soon - hopefully it will be able to handle the better graphic options which means better screenshots and cities. I'm still looking, so expect it around October-December time (yes, I'm sorry, but it'll have to do.) In the meanwhile, I'll try and get the SimCity open again. I'm assuming it's more bug free now
  3. Cloudscape: The Region

Sorry for the late one Computer and origin went kaboom. Suburbia Sector: Overlook Valley Population: 14,542 Year: 2041 Welcome back people to our tour of Suburbia Sector! This will be our last tour (I promise!) for the time being. Because we need to get onto the metro at 8:45am, we humbly request you don't take much photos during this tour. A striking avenue and the large Lemonwaters skyline feature both in the picture. Overlook Valley is famous for its industrial might. Having more industrial buildings being built everyday, the city's coffers have literally overflowing with cash. The main subhighway is very busy due to the incompetence of the Cloudscape Department of Transportation, who have recently been give a $1bn funding boost. Luckily, more than a tenth of the city use public transport, easing down the burden on Overlook's cracked roads. A new public library and elementary school has been opened in hopes to attract high-tech industry to the city. So far, nothing has happened, but there has been reports of algebraic graffiti in gang hideouts. Oh no! It's 5 minutes until the train sets off! We better rush of quickly! Goodbye everyone! Galactic's Note Hope you enjoyed that I have received 2 requests to help me build Cloudtopia. I would love to, but the only problem is that my Origin has gone kaboom. Firstly, I can not invite friends as the button has disappeared. Secondly, I can log into the Origin client but not the website. Apparently, I don't "exist"! Thirdly..well...all my friends before the incident have disappeared! If anyone has any help, please post asap! I look forward to having more requests to join! TTFN, galactic
  4. Cloudscape: The Region

Ladies and gentlemen, I am very happy to say Cloudscape is no longer on hold. I will be be back making cities soon, since my exams are finally over. However, random people are causing very inconvenient trouble for me which I shouldn't really be involved in, so it will take longer to create more cities. On a sad note, I am very sad to announce my open public region for East Cloudtopia has been trolled and filled with a bunch of LOL SECTORS. Countless hours of time have been lost only for some troll to make some criminal city full to the brim of monotonous boring skyscrapers and grid patterns. Many of my other cities have also been trolled too, so I am sad to also announce my regions will no longer be public. If you would like to still join, just a drop a reply and I'll invite you
  5. 2.0 pollution problem resolved/tweaked?

Yes - it is better now. Thanks for telling us! Now we can build in peace.
  6. Cloudscape: The Region

We need you! Well, I just logged on this morning and guess what I found? Half of the region is full - and they're not horrible! If you are alright for me to take pictures of them and add it to my CJ, just join Region Name: East Cloudtopia Metro Server: Europe West 2 Please note I am not looking for ZOMG SKYSCRAPER FORETSSSZZZZZ or a bunch of LOL SECTORS, so please be sensible while building.
  7. Cloudscape: The Region

Cloudscape is on hold I'm sorry guys, but a combination of exams, random, inconvenient and irritating stuff, annoying people and game-breaking bugs means I will not have time to continue my CJ indefinitely . I will, however, try and do some building when the bugs are fixed and the exams are over, though it's looking like a long time until these are done. I might put out some short updates out occasional and might post some video updates on my YouTibe channel, so don't give up. And no, don't worry - I have no plans to cancel this CJ -galactic
  8. To be honest, in my kinda useless opinion, it's the pollution and traffic bugs ONLY which are stopping me from playing the game. The rest of the bugs detract from the gameplay but I don't really care about them since I seem to have a "clean" edition of the game. However, it is ridiculous to not spot a game-breaking bug in 3 weeks of QA testing..
  9. I still play it but the air pollution bug is a killer. Other than that and the fact rain doesn't fill the water table and traffic issues, I'm fine with the game. I don't really care about the other issues since I seem to be shielded from them.
  10. Cloudscape: The Region

Delays Benedict: Yes, it is much easier now. I hope to release some if I have the the time, maybe with some commentary Sorry guys, I'm extremely busy at the moment and it doesn't look like it'll be stopping anytime before August/July. However, during the free time I do have I'm forced to do revising and all that horrible things, so I'll try getting an update out soon™. EDIT: The pollutin bug has effectively destroyed East Cloudtopia. I'm going to have to start again and I'm getting busier and busier..how I hate the end of the school year!
  11. Cloudscape: The Region

Cloudscape has it's own YouTube channel! Well...it's my gaming channel..but who cares? I'll be uploading short videos of my cities on this channel; I'm using the rubbish ingame video recorder so they are extremely short. I'll try and use Hypercam 3 next time. Watch in 360p or HD if you can. Lemonwaters tour- Ingame video recorder test in Rangia District - More coming soon, I'm still working on East Cloudtopia. Though it would be nice if someone joined the region..
  12. Patch 2.0 drops Monday

Hmm....seems good, though it would be better with they fixed the underlying problems rather than touching the surface.
  13. Contanimated Water

Furthermore, I think it can happen if you buy contaminated water from another city. Try shutting down your suppliers one by one to see who's supplying you the dirty water.
  14. The rule of 3’s no longer applies.

Very good once again! Keep it up!
  15. Cloudscape: The Region

You can view the album here: https://imgur.com/a/Vf8sL galactic's note: This is just a filler while I develop East Cloudtopia Metro. As for the grid issue, it appears to be a bug with my graphics card and since I'm no computer apotheon I don't know how to fix it This entry follows the story of a eager graduate buying a new home around 40-50 years before most of the entries in the journal and his journey along the way East Cloudtopia Sector: Rangia District Population: 33,110 Year: 1976 Hello people, my name is Jack, and I just bought a apartment in Rangia! They say I'm "medium-wealth", but in my humble opinion I don't know what that's supposed to mean. There's underfloor heating, comfortable pre-furnished rooms and great views! Here's a picture I took of it: Nice humble home for a humble person . The industrial district is literally blowing up with growth, so, as a keen photographer I snapped a image of it. I went shopping earlier and I was amazed by the amount of shops there were! I bought lots of furniture and gadgets, though the constrast between the wealthy and slightly poorer parts of the city is noticeable. As I slowly wandered through the city, I eventually reached the border with a city they're planning to build, so I couldn't go any further. My favourite place to eat is Taqueria. You can eat everything: from tacos to pizzas and coke ice cream to ghost chilli fizzy drinks! The city is mostly mid-rise, with only three high-rise buildings. This road in particular is mixed with low-rise and mid-rise This forest is one of the most quiet areas on Rangia. On drowsy summer evenings I sit in the nearby park and wonder away....what is the meaning of life? Do we live to work or work to live? I recently bought a car and went for a drive; here's picture I took on the way. The skyline looks qute good on this one! Down Craftia Avenue Further up the avenue you have a clearer picture of the city. The skyscraper district is uglier at street-level than it looks....it's just bland old glass... This is the road near the location of my job interview tomorrow. Wish me luck! Dead-end avenues are a common sight here..though I did only move in two weeks ago, so I probably didn't have a good look around. The roads here have very shrap dips and rises. I suppose it keeps out the speeding motorists though! Night here is better than it looks, however, I do hear sporadic gunfire which makes me a bit petrified nervous.. The IS23 (intersector 23) curves right through the heart of town, and it brings traffic nightmares everywhere. No wonder nobody really wants to live there! Woah!!!??!! Did you just hear! We've been merged with the capital Cloudtopia, and who knows what could happen? Success or failure? I'll leave that to you to decide . Filler-in over folks! This is set forty years before the entries I'm going to post later, so of coruse it's going to me small . I'm working very hard on East Cloudtopia Sector, but studying and exams are taking its toll. I'll be back soon, and as per usual please leave feedback; I don't bite! Now let's go before they find out I've been sneaking on! -- galactic
  16. Cloudscape: The Region

Thanks! The grid was on in the screenshots, I don't know if there's a way to turn it off. There's a bug with computers like mine, so if I try to go above minimum lighting a grid appears. But thanks for telling me, I'll try and find a way to turn it off.
  17. Cloudscape: The Region

You can view the album here: https://imgur.com/a/amfIy galactic's note: Sorry for the late entry, but exam time has taken it's toll on me and it looks like all entries will be delayed by at least two days until July (summer break) Also, about 20 photos are missing. I think my ingame camera is bugging out bigtime! Suburbia Sector: Lemonwaters Population: 111,444 Year: 2040 Hmm....I don't think we should be here...there's just been a terrorist attack; a police officer, 45 Cloudscapians and 6 foreigners.....they were all shot dead by a cruel, merciless terrorist. Well, at least the Cloudscapian Army is here, so we'll be OK.....if we're careful Wait, did I forget to introduce the city??!!!? I'll take that as a yes, so.. Welcome to Lemonwaters! This large, crime-ridden, slum-filled city which represented the worst of Cloudscape has turned into a no-go zone for criminals and into a hub for terrorists. The rapid population growth and tax revenues flooding in from it has blown the socks off the Cloudscape Population Control Department and the Department of Finance! (yes, the workers were so shocked by the dramatic turn-around that they're socks did blow off!) Here's the scene from Green Plaza in the one and only LOL SECTOR CBD. The city has seen a "space race", though we're talking about skyscrapers here. Pizzario has set up it's regional HQ here and many global brands from neighbouring countries have set up their HQ for operations outside of Cloudtopia. The view from Galactic Orbital Avenue has certainly changed from a collection of slums down a avenue into the main road, though shopping has mostly moved into the CBD. A streetcar system helps traffic and is one of the most up-to-date systems in Cloudscape. Driving around the city is as easy as finding water-proof sponges, (I mean, most shops have it in stock, right? I smell more taxes for the sponge industry..) thanks to city planners at Suburbia University. There is no gridlock here, and they say if you ever see gridlock in Lemonwaters and the sea is lemon-coloured, you'll win $500,000,000! And man, there's so much police around here... Carefully planned out development has meant that the area isn't packed to the brim with skyscrapers, rather, a mix of mid-rise, skyscrapers, the odd shack and a large airy space. Skyscrapers are still being built in the outskirts of the CBD, as coporations rush to develop before there's no space left. The city's most dull tenements look brilliant at sunrise. The city hall can also be seen here. If you remember the police station on the edges of the city, then have a look at it now! The struggle against crime has payed off, and extra jail cells mean faster rehabilation times. Also visible are various skyscrapers, just hidden behind the wall of towers is the high-wealth district, where company CEOs live. The seedy part of town has been transformed thanks to the ending of the social, educational and economic crises...though I suppose cheap offices have lasted the 20 years since we lasted visited here..and the police! these coppers are annoying me; they're practically everywhere! Down the winding avenues is a world where mid-rise meets high-rise.. The industry in the city has been regenerated into a high-tech district, bringing cold, hard cash to Cloudscape's coffers and attracting only the best the best talent in Suburbia and surrounding sectors. The skyline from the lush meadows. The oil fields next to it have been abandoned for seven years, partly because of fears of the oil running out and also because the heavy ground pollution were ruining the meadows. A view of the airy and modern CBD. The district is well connected to the rest of the city by streetscars and buses, and ferries also serve as a way for workers to commute here. Looking the other way: Calling all number crunchers! Having stolen borrowed some data from the city hall, here's some eye-candy to look at. This map shows the land value here. A detailed document about the population and growth here. I didn't have to look through much to find this The guy who gave me the papers only had to walk to the PR department to get this! Most, if not all of the city's germs only infect the high-tech district, though they don't really care. The people here are really happy! Well folks, that's it for now! This entry was for people who like to read alot and look at eye-candy. I am spiralling down into a void of exams, hence why this entry was late. I'll only truly be free in late July, when I can make entries MUCH MORE frequently because then I'll have all the time in the world to do it. However, I'm currently on 1 hour/day so it's very diffucult to balance SimCity with other things, such as studying, rehearsing and all that other horrible stuff... This will be the last entry from Suburbia for now as I begin contruction on East Cloudtopia. Goodbye, and I hope I'll see you soon™! (hopefully not in July!) I always like some feedback good or bad, if you want to post some feedback but you're uncertain, don't worry I don't bite! -galactic
  18. Ben's Top Ten: SimCity 2013

Never thought I'd see the day..thanks!
  19. Cloudscape: The Region

Replies: Hamish: I thought it would be rude not to reply to you until my next entry, so I might as well do it now . Thanks for the praise, unforunately I do not know how to turn off the gird. Apparently there's a glitch for mid-spec computers who try to go above low lighting get stuck with the grid, so I'm hoping I get a better comouter soon, with hopefully more beautiful pictures I'll start off with the first part of the story here: Suburbia Sector: Lemonwaters Population: 115,000 At the police station in Lemonwaters in 2040.. Lieutenant: He's a dangerous man, he's disturbing the order of Suburbia! What if he starts in Cloudtopia What if he overthrows the government? Police Chief: With all due respect Lieutenant, he's just one man. You overestimate his abilites. Lieutenant: But the Cloudscapian military intelligence says otherwise! Police Chief: Look Lieutenant, we can deal with him. We have 23 police cars, 120 police officers and 30 spies. He can't hide for long! *suddenly gunshots can be heard* Police Officer: FREEZE IN THERE NOW! *more gunshots* Police Chief: OFFICER, WHAT'S HAPPENING? Police Officer: IT'S A TERRORIST ATTACK! IT'S ALIENS! IT'S CYLONS! IT'S IT'S... Lieutenant: I have a gun, you sound the alarms and we'll deal with whatever did this!! Police Chief: Yes sir! Police Officer: AHHHHHHH!!!! *explosion*
  20. Interesting - libraries are an alternative to shopping like parks are? Interesting - libraries are an alternative to shopping like parks are? Yes, but the sims who visit don't go back with happiness I believe.
  21. “Now who here likes a good story about a bridge?”

I'm speechless. I take my hats off to you sir!
  22. Cloudscape: The Region

You can view the album here: https://imgur.com/a/qugj4 @ Ln X Thanks! Getting the shots was incredibly lucky as I had to be there at the right time, and as I take my pictures in low (medium and above crash my game) lighting I move at 1fps, so it's even more harder. East Suburbia Sector: Cylon Population: 15,178 Welcome back to Suburbia, it's December 21st 2021 and today we'll be visiting the town of Cylon! I know the first thought in your head.. No, it's not a Battlestar Galactica Cylon! Apparently the 4 year olds at Cloudtopia's naming department thought of it, and it lost by 50 votes to Settler's Rise but they used it anyway. The quiet town is a hub for tourism, being situated at the end on the Craftia Mountain Range means trekkers and hikers start their journey at the town. People come from all over Suburbia to see to relax, enjoy the beautiful sunsets and take a break from the harsh reality, though most of them come from Lemonwaters which is almost barely visible from the edge of the city. The town has a boring line-like road pattern, but a new section of the city built by a suburban developer adds some "diagonals" to the city. But that's reasonable as the Department of Transportation, Highways and Railways is not to be trusted to build roads, because of the idiots in charge of it: Anyway, we've arrived in Cylon just in time for the sunset! The town is populated but fairly dense, even if it is low rise. As a result, most of the town area is still fields. In this picture, you can see the National Bridge (built in 1876 to celebrate the ending of the Great War), and it looks like the family favourite "Pizzario" from Oval has opened a shop here. Most of the town spends the evening quietly at the local BBQ pavilion. Some get out deckchairs and soak up the sunshine, while others strive to be in Cylon's football team. Even in winter, temparatures stay at about 17C, and in summer reaches 25C. Because of this, many children here have never seen snow, or don't know what it is. Down the CSH25 (Cloudscape Highway 25). The skyline from the edge of the city: Ever since the disaster in Lime Quays, businesses have had to relocate. Alot of these have opened shops in LOL SECTOR the town. As a result, the town is a boon for passing commuters and shoppers. Even staff in the industrial district sneak off in their lunch break to help themselves to a delicous seafood pizza in Pizzario. Woah!!!! Have you looked at the time? It's sunset but it's the winter solstice, so sunset is at midnight! You better get to sleep! Hope you had a good sleep! The motel wasn't the....best... quality, but it'll do! Cool! Look at that sunrise! Where's my camera? Well, this town looks good, but we better get going! Bye everyone! Hope you enjoyed that! The camera angles look very dodgy and different to me, so I think my ingame camera has bugged out. Next post, we'll be revisiting Lemonwaters (I promise MUCH more story and pictures this time if I have enough time.). And also, the next two entries we'll have a QA, so if you have any questions/requests/feedback just ask/tell me! If you're a guest and have a question, make an account and ask! The folks here at Simtropolis are mostly mature and very friendly! And that's it from galactic /endentry
  23. Education and Hazmat fires

Hazmat fires do occur at high density low-tech industry just to let you know.
  24. Cloudscape: The Region

@Panos: Thank you! I am going to think about focusing on the story in my future updates, which are little late but will be coming soon™ @simfanheatermayor: Thanks again! The disaster was totally random, I had no idea that it was going to happen.. And if you would like to know when "soon" is, I leave you only this... The only thing I'm going to say is that it's not going to be in two months and will be less than that, but maybe not his week. But could it be today? Tomorrow? Nobody knows but me https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time
  25. “Now who here likes a good story about a bridge?”

VERY Beautiful city and like how the bridge is involved in the story. The story-telling is also first class! I really enjoyed it.
