I really can't say how much this site has meant to me. SC4 is the only game i play and continue to play and only because of this site, the content, the inspiration, it's awesome, thank you. FYI i am still building on to this region, quite a lot actually, i should update this weekend ....if i don't get bogged down doing taxes. Remember back in the day, i'd do multiple huge updates in the same day, college was great, real life...not so much. Thanks again.
  3. Reese Building

love stuff like this, we could use another 100 buildings of the same style.

it makes me happy to see this thread still active.
  6. Urland, a (mostly) rural coastline

    this is so, just wow.
  7. AK Region Play 2010

Been chugging along with terraforming and trying to improve the suburban rural blend, which is only about 10% complete and more obvious on the leftside of the sprawl. I've included and thumbnail and full size region shot, the detail is much clearer on the full size. Full Size http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6417/newregion2thumbhuge.jpg Random metro teaser
  8. Urban Rivers Project

this is coming along greatly, i've never really dug any of the canals, but these are great.
  9. Wide Railway Curves Textured

THanks soo much, those were preventing me from ever using them.

Or do you create just a huge bitmap and then develop it tile by tile? quote> a little of both, i've never had an issue loading a bitmap in mspaint and then increasing size, though the direction of where the new tiles are added is always the same, might be worth experimenting. anyways still in the process of fading the suburban/rural areas, starting to look a lot more realistic.
  11. Dubuque, Iowa

still the best CJ maker around.
  12. AK Region Play 2010

Thanks, it fades a little more than can be seen in those pictures, but spot on. As for the urban parks, again they're there, just hard to see, i'll get to that later.
  13. Chicago

Interesting to see the different takes on Chicago, i've always wanted to tackle it. Can't say as this is how i'd go about it, but you have a unique style. Hope to see more.
  14. Crazy's Collection of Cities

reminds me of old jeronij work, clearly a compliment.

  16. AK's Bizarre Urban Menagerie

Welcome to my new cj, some of you know me, many don't, i have a distinct style many of you already know, i have been experimenting with a few new ideas applied in the same old ways, here are a few pics to wet your appetite. I apologize for the low quality and sketchyness but time is hard to come by these days. Enjoy peeps, later, Alek.
  17. AK's Bizarre Urban Menagerie

i sure have, in fact i have a mid sized semi rural city in progress now.
  18. AK's Bizarre Urban Menagerie

thought i'd upload a bunch of half finished cities that i've been tooling with....life is nuts. A couple of these were modern fantasy cities and a couple were gritty american cities.
  19. Canterra Tower

    WOW! very top notch work
  20. the Brastoval Region

WELCOME to Bristol Bay After a handful of scattered brained CJs showcasing random cities, i'm going back to creating a sprawling region, I have a pretty good mental picture of what i want this thing to evolve into and expect to continue this project for sometime as the masterplan will take quite a lot of work. The first city to be showcased is Bristol Bay and located in the far northwestern coastal plain. This is a working class city and the oldest in the region housing many govt offices. It has only recently seen some of its older neighborhoods in desirable spots gentrify as overall economic conditions across the region increase and people return to the city. Industrial activity in this portion of the city has been largely adondoned save for a few factories and warehouses, all heavy industry has moved down the coast to the northwest and will be shown later. City wide mass transit is not exactly impressive featuring a single main line and side branch elevated rail system to funnel in suburban commuters off of the single commuter rail line. Here is the commuter rail/el rail hub. There are no commuter rail stops in this city and all traffic into the rail station is regional. Bristol's northern coast has gone through a major revitalization project, with major industry pushed out of the area, waters have cleared up and the coast line devoted to recreation. A cluster of govt. buildings can also be seen. Restoring turn of the century architecture has become everything in the city especially the Bristol Heights neighborhood located east of downtown, the beach fronting this neighborhood being the primary draw. The CBD is largely comprised of building built back in the cities industrial hayday though a handful of new highrises have been built as corporations find the cities business incentives attractive compared to other regional business centers.

Buildings lean in on each other and are like equally distant from each other. It's amazing how much detail you put into every city you showcase. Excellent work!! quote> glad you noticed, believe it or not but every single one of those apartment building has been made historical to prevent it from upgrading to something i didn't want, there has to be close to 1,000 historical buildings in that city.

Natural selection does not prove interspecies evolution.quote> As others have so thoroughly pointed out, that is not exactly how natural selection works. Also, natural selection proves that speciation can happen, and the fossil record proves it did happen, and the natural selection of superbugs proves it is happening how. instead replacing it with a 2000-year-old book for which there is no evidence for its validityquote> But then you say.. Secondly, the Exodus probably was a historical event, based on the evidence avaliable, but there is no evidence of any supernatural involvement.quote> So you deny its validity, then almost admit it, but deny its given cause. Hmm. quote> Let me clarify my point. Because the Bible states that an event happened, it does not mean it did happen. However, if the Bible states an event happened, and is backed up by other historical and archaeological records, then it most likely did happen. If it is not backed up by other records, and/or is scientifically impossible, then it most likely did not happen. That is the method for judging the factuality of any event in any book. The Bible is no different -- it is a book. Secondly, there is little, if any "censorship and dismissal" going on in the scientific community. If you have a hypothesis, go and test it. There is nothing to stop you.quote> That's outright BS. One only has to look at dissenting science on climate change to see that the scientific community has raised 'censorship and dismissal' to a, ... well, science.quote> That censorship is not coming from the scientific community (i.e. scientists). It mainly comes from politicians. Scientists being censored does not in itself prove they are being censored by other scientists. Or maybe God's greatest deception was convincing billions of people that it is better to live in ignorant slavery than be free, sapient beings. If I believed in the Christian mythology (which I do not), then I would be inclined to be a Satanist.quote> Funny, you sure have embraced one of their propaganda talking points pretty well.quote>

And I daresay that outside of the Bible itself, there is no real evidence whatsoever of divine creation. This may sound a little off topic but I want to find out what you believe about Jesus Christ.quote> He was a man. A great man, with a strong sense of morality, who amassed quite a following and (perhaps unintentionally) founded the religion that bears his name. But ultimately, he was just a man, no different than any of us. He never performed any actual miracles, nor did he rise from the dead. He was executed for political reasons (as many were back in those days), not because it was god's plan or anything. Also, I'd like a little explanation as to how the fossil record proves evolution.quote> It doesn't "prove" it in the absolute sense of the word, but it does give us an awful lot of dots to connect. The fossil record has continually supported the theory of evolution, but it has yet to refute it.quote> Evidence? how is a rip off collection of myths evidence of divine creation?
  24. Creationism vs. Evolution

theistic evolution?!?! come on now, that's just code for Christians who are too scared of death to let go of god for good.

How do you match up the grass textures between the roads and the open grass?quote> good question and glad you asked, i have a lot that is nothing but a 1x1 grass texture that is the same as is created by diagonal roads, i also use the grass rail texture from NOB that is the same, so i can use the 3 in combination to match the base textures, my cities don't have a single tile that isn't covered in something. This is also the reason i don't use a lot of the cool NAM curves, because the green base textures underneath drive me nuts, the overhanging prop lots that address this issue need to be expanded imo
