i hate the city of Boston so much right now, red sox win the ws, celtics look like world beaters and the pats go 16-0, come on!!!
-
selles man i love your region the best ever imo
-
i think your city is pretty chaotic, tons of high density $$$ causing your dilapidation issues, i'd personally add some more low rise and mid rise neighborhoods, but it's still cool to see all the scrapers.

Originally posted by: masochist I would tell you how in-awe of your work I am, but my jaw hasn't left the floor yet... One second...let me get it snapped back in there... All right...a bit of grilling here. If I may ask, how do you do your industrial areas? Do you plop or do you zone for them (I would imagine you zone)? I'm trying to do my industrial areas in your style, but I can't seem to get them to grow nicely like that with parking lots and such, but it just doesn't happen for me. Any advice you might give me (and everyone else who reads this) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! P. S. I don't know if you know this, but this is the only CJ/MD I have ever followed so closely (I'm not a big CJ person).quote> I have a pretty set formula for my industrial areas, first is to find a suitable location, I find there are two main areas where large industrial complexes are found (in north American cities at least) the first being along coastlines adjacent to ports-for obvious reasons and second is just beyond the urban ring. Not to get too far off topic but all of my cities follow the same general plan. CBD comprised of mostly high density commercial and a few high density R$$ and $$$ (usually the only R$$$ in my cities) the ring immediately outside is where most of your R$ and R$$ med and high density should be, tapering to lesser densities and wealth as you get further from the city center. Next is where I would put my industrial complex, and beyond that your sprawling suburbs. Another method I have is laying out my rail system I’m a believer in limited access neighborhoods which have no road access to job centers forcing sims to use my trains, and I almost always have a large terminus in the cbd with passenger lines radiating out kinda like a kids drawing of sun rays. I do freight lines differently, instead opting to have them circle around the cbd and down to the coast/port areas, even though the game doesn’t really ship freight I like it this way. I use NOBs grass rail textures which are kind muddy looking and blend well with diagonal roads and an industrial setting. As for what’s plopped, I always lay a general rail outline and plop all my transit enabled industrial/freight lots, connect them to roads, and then zone industrial where ever I have room and fill in the oblong spaces with grass filler tiles. I don’t think I can stress enough that I spend a lot of time demolishing over and over until I get the right building-using the no maxis mod and manipulating taxes (I don’t like the I-ht building much) helps to control what developes a bit better. Something else to consider is to learn the lot sizes of what building you want to grow and zone for that size while holding ctrl. The last tip I can give you is to go on windows live local/google earth and get some ideas of how freight/industrial areas are laid out in the real world, here in lace w:st="on">Chicagolace> there are tons of freight yards/industrial parks I get inspiration from. anyways glad you are enjoying this cj, i'm wrestling with a few ideas to whe
