  1. Athenai Map with coastal Mountains

This is not athens, I put it under fantasy because I just made it. I plan on makeing more regions of diffrent styles if people like my region. I know that some people don't like makeing regions as it can be a bit frustrating. Yes pheonix it was a little bit more hilly than I first antisapated.

This is Athenai. I wanted a coastal region with mountains in the background. I ended up with alot more mountains than I planed, and some of the terrain is steap. No problem to populate if you don't have the tunnel and slopeing mod. If you do it is an interesting challange to play. There is a big island as well as some nice harbor type areas. I hope you enjoy my first region. I plan on makeing more. If you like and have requests please ask.
  3. Sculpting Columbia River

I agree with the time issue. I get to play when my wife is sleeping (I work graveyard 12's) and only 2 or 3 times a week. I love your island, I have been trying to terraform in my CJ I have going, and some of it looks good, but I have to admit I have alot of square sections. That looks ok for a downtown crammed city I think, but I don't have a rural flare as you have demostrated so many times on this CJ. I am trying to learn as much as I can because the realism makes Sim City some much more fun for me. I wish I was better at creating my own bats so I could do what I want more, but I am satisfied to use things that can be found here on simtropolis. Keep up the good work. I will try and keep up with the ever growing pages.
  4. Metropol, the first CJ

I personaly like that you have a desaster, not that sims died. It is realalistic to have a disaster and gives a bursting city that edge to make it unique. You could add a memorial park over there for all the firefighters that DID make it to the fire and faught bravly even if lives were lost. Just my to CP. ODE to simtropolis Thy page, Thy link, Thy beutious face, And all thy html saving grace. What was it when I first saw you, That chained my heart through and through. That air I can't bare the thought, Of another day without you; SIMTROPOLIS!!!!
  5. This is my first attempt at a CJ and I will see how it goes. First here is the region i'm working with. I downloaded it off this site under maps somewhere as a pack. The credits point to Airmale007 as the creater so thanks to him for a good region to work with, I have a hard time making a nice one.
  6. Bluefrog: WOW!! I never noticed that, but you are right. The center of which this picture is taken can only be gotten into. I fixed the problem, but thank you so much for pointing it out. Obvusly for some reason sim city didn't seam to think it effected traffic, as I never saw any traffic problems there, although in RL there would be a major traffic jam and some very annoyed sims. I have changed the whole center of town best seen in picture 1.6, although I don't have one of just that same section posted with the new layout. I now have a square round about, and the connection streets are not 1 way, but rather 2 way. While you still would have to been going the right way on the avenues to get there, at least you can get back out of the cirlce. Thanks again for pointing that out, I very well could have not even noticed, and it seams like such a simple thing. I hope your enjoying my CJ so far, rember to check back on sundays and mondays as I get posts done those days more than others.
  7. Oxygen Update 2.0 Oxygen is becomeing a bustling hub for comercial and high tech industries. With some dirty industries still fueling Hydrogens need for jobs it is indeed growing to be a big city. Major events, it is unfortunate but the minor leauge has yet to win in there leauge. The team is better and there are hopes for next year as in the last few they have come close. That beeing said, on to the pictures: This is the layout of the city as it stands night and day: - Oxygen Layout Night ( 2.00 ) - Oxygen Layout Day ( 2.01 ) With the expanding population of Oxygen, some more industry was needed. A company was hired to carve out a small little area that hopefuly would also house a fure seaport. The plans are there, but will the people come? A few indsutries have. New Industry Developement ( 2.02 ) With the expanding industry in the middle of the city it was ctying foul for lack of connections. Freight trips were taking forever, and the comercial just didn't think that freight trucks going through downtown was a good idea. The solution? A rail connection. This simple rail-line goes from the waterfront to the neighboor were future residency and high tech industry is planed. - - Rail Depot for Industry ( 2.03 ) - Freight Rail ( 2.04 ) - Freight Rail Connection ( 2.05 ) With industry booming, taxes going up, and the demand for houses getting bad, a new develope ment was put in. This is high priced (so so one would think) sculped land and waterfront. With this great island 3 tears were made of buildings. With a lack of a local school, it was decided to put on in as well as a hospital clinic. The end result is seen in the last pictures. Since the plane (from the recently expanded airport due to comercial demand) took these pictures from overhead, this neighborhood has grown to be pack with no more room for expansion. There is talk of sculpting the west side of the highway, but no ground breaking has accured yet. After all the work that was put into the seawall, the contracters while they did a good job, are reluctent to put the months of work into the other side of the island that went into this side. - - Island for Decelopment ( 2.06 ) - Highway on Island ( 2.07 ) - On / Off Ramps ( 2.08 ) - - Sculped and Zoned ( 2.09 ) - Developement Day ( 2.10 ) - Developement Night ( 2.11 ) With the fat lady singing, the bells ringing (and a few beers down) this update is over. I hope you have enjoyed, and if new ideas are good, employed, my city and layout / sculpting that is. . . . THE POPULATING OF EVANS VALLEY ( REGION BY AIRMALE007)
  8. lookinin : Thank you. I am trying to keep up an interesting city, and it is growing. I personaly like to see a city grow and become more transportation sound as it grows. As I have said earlier, planed cities are to boring. I personaly feel that this region is turning out nice as I just go with what is needed. Amryai200: I am glad that you like the layout. I try and do interesting this with the layout and while I make downtown square, I try and make real neghiborhoods and routes for my sims. As you will see with my next post, I can get creative for various waterfront property. Also, as my city is growing, I added a rail connection for industry farther in on the map. I am going to highlight this connection, and think it turned out interesting in its own right. For all who are reading, keep enjoying my posts, I'm enjoying growing my region. Future plans include continueing to branch out the farming community up the valley along the river. With the success of the first one, farmers from all over the globe are seeking this fertial valley. There is also rumors of a mineing and logging community up in the mountains off the dead end highway that heads that direction. As always, the downtown is growing like a weed and while Hydrogen was founded first and has a healthy population (alot of low wealth sims), Oxygen is fast becoming the man place to been. They even raised taxes to try and stem the population boom and as a result are keeping the budget in check. There was some problems with the new solor power plant being so expensive, but those rich sims love it. I hope to get my update for Oxygen up tonight.
  9. This is an update of the region Evans Vally Evans Vally Satalite and Transportation view. - Evans Vally Satalite View - Evans Vally Transpertation View This is the population break down of Evans Valley Evans Vally Population Break Down Populations of the cities in Evans Valley are as follows. - - Evans Vally Hydrogen - Evans Vally Oxygen - Evans Vally Nitrogrn
  10. johnnie2: No I don't mind you watching. I hope you enjoy seeing my city unfold. Feel free to comment or not, is entirely up to you. Just nice knowing that peps are enjoying my work. lookinin: I didn't change my format back to large pictures as my last post has said. I hope you arn't to turned off to my CJ by my post format. As i said in earlier post, my friend with modem took time to load page, so I'm doing this for people like him. If i get a overwhelming cry for large pictures I can, because it does take less time and effort. Eather way I hope you enjoy my CJ Well that is all, I am going to bed now. Till next time. . . May all your cards be wired, and your pots be monsters. - WPT
  11. Oxygen Update: Oxygen has been growing nicely as the population figures from the last post show. Here is a birds eye view of the city during night and day. - Oxygen Layout Night ( 1.0 ) - Oxygen Layout Day ( 1.1 ) With the neighboring city booming residentuly, some of the wealthier citizens commuted over to Oxygen. All that traffic created a nice comercial corridor along the farm lands. There is argument as to the noise Vrs Farms. It looks like the farms might be fassed out completly eventuly. Oxygen Comercial Farmland ( 1.2 ) The comercial district needed some room to expand. An airport was just the thing just on the outskirts of the city. It is only a small one as of yet, but the airport has anbitions to spread its wings if comercial needs it. Oxygen Airport ( 1.3 ) With the $$$ sim population booming, and the air clean. A call was put out to replace all the PEG solar collectors and use a bigger Solor power plant. It was placed in the high tech industry district were it fit in and made friends right away. Oxygen Solor Power ( 1.4 ) Some High Tech reword thing, I'm not even sure what it is, but I always put my rewards somewere. I rember that it has computed pie to 100000000 places I think it was. It has a major negative effect on high tech in the area, so I might try and move it. If someone knows what this does I would like to know. Oxygen High Tech Thingy ( 1.5 ) With the education skyrocketing, and the high rollers rolling in, a call was put out for a major art museum. It was decided to be put next to the center of town and close to one of the city colleges. It is also within walking distance of AMP tower. Oxygen Major Art Museum ( 1.6 ) A shot of downtown with the golden gate in the lower right. Oxygen Downtown ( 1.7 ) The stadiums in Oxygen. I ploped the one, I downloaded it here somewhere. The second is just the minior legue one. The residential has been slowly creeping twords them though they started off from everything. Oxygen Stadiums ( 1.8 ) Some water front sculpting with seawalls. I was having problems with not being able to place them and being told tiles were reserved when I placed wrong one and buldozed. If anyone knows about this I would like help cause it looks funny with holes in wall. Oxygen Stadiums ( 1.9 ) Some water from sculpting with a country club up on the hill for them high rollers. Oxygen Waterfront ( 1.10 ) The High Tech Industry park with some sculpted residental hill sides. I got on a sculpting kick with the concrete walls and did a major section of the water front. Oxygen High Tech ( 1.11 ) There are a few new things with this update. I am going to try and preced all my updates with the last post. Population data and transportation map. I am also adding numbers to my images. I got the idea from jeronij and his great CJ Sculpting Columbia River . If you see anything that catches your eye and you want to know more, just mention the picture. I will answer any questions you have. Also I continued with the thumbnail format. I know at least one person says they would like full size, but I have a friend with only modem and he said my CJ took a long time to load, so I am doing this for him and other modem users. I dont' think it is to much of a inconvenionce to click for the full image, and it will take stress of simtropolis. Thank you all for your comments, rember good or bad I want to hear. I have crazy ideas about transportation sometimes, and they don't always turn out good. So i'm willing to hear ideas if you want. I hope you enjoyed the update, I probly wont be back till Sunday or Monday because of my work schedule.

  13. Sculpting Columbia River

I was wondering in 80.10 what the road on the left side of the shot is. It looks like it is looping as if on a stunt track. I have never seen that before. I will admit I havn't read your entire CJ yet, Im only part way through as i was late and there is alot to read. . . but I was interested in it. if you could give more info I would apreciate it. Your updates look great as always, you are an insperation to not only building cities, but Sculping a region.
  14. Metropol, the first CJ

I like your re sculpting of the region... I think that is relalistic with real life. A city gets put together and along some point they relize that sculpting and reforming needs to be done. I think to some degree that it is done before, but also I know that there is buldozing and reshaping afterwards. Take Las Vegas, they blow up and re develope buildings and cassinos as if it was nothing. I love your concrete walls on the sculpting, and yes I still like the canal alot as has been said. I am somewhat disapointed though that there isn't much of a begening to this city. It just apeared with alot of population. I would like to see some new cities developing for better or worse. I am enjoying your CJ though and look forward to more. This is the end of my weekend, so I won't be back till sunday or monday so hope to find alot of jucy updates.
  15. Sculpting Columbia River

I love the airport. I wish that I could make my own lots like that to use. This is my first post on your CJ even though I have read alot of it. I mostly like your use of terraforming and cement walls. You have a great transportation system going as well. I just love it. Your an insperation to continue with my Siming and get some great cities someday that might look as nice as yours.
  16. Metropol, the first CJ

I like the terraforming and use of the ponds. Also the cannel through the comercial looks real nice. The over all population and layout looks good, I would be interested of seeing pictures of all the cities layouts if you could.
  17. Easy way to save bandwidth!

I don't know if this will catch on or not, or if it even helps. With image shack you get a tumbnail. For my CJ I am doing, all of my pics are now thumbnailed on the board. I have links below each to my webpage off site if you want to see the full picture. I also crop all of them down to 800 x 600 or less in photoshop. Than after they are small enough I export for web use down to 32 selective colors. I do loose a little of the picture look, but we all know what Sim city looks like, and it isn't bad. Also even at the larger sizes it only takes a short time to load even at a slow 28 8. I havn't had any replies on my new way of posting as I only started tonight. It does take time, but I personaly think it looks nice and i'm sure saves space.
  18. Oxygen Update: And now for what is becomeing my main metropolus. Sprawling subarbs, dense polluting industry, a high tech park, even a large tower soon to be graced by comercial high rises (hopefully). This is the next instalment in what is. . . Evens Vally (rember airmale007 made region, I just wanted to populate it) After the boom of farming in Nitrogrn, Oxygen farms had to fight to give reason for being (they don't pay taxes after all). To deal with the decresed desire in what was turnging into a more comercial city, the farms maned together to start an irigation project. It is partcily done as of date, but plans are in the works for the future of a larger network. Oxygen Irigation Network With the growth of the city, more residential subarbs were needed. A contractor was hired and unforntly didn't have much imagination to the subarbs. Oxygen Subarbs With the new subarb population in a steady boom, the AMP tower was put in a remodeled downtown section. The surounding areas are slowing turning into more comercial as the traffic incresses in the area. One such example is the sunken malls that are placed just outside the downtown loop as seen below. - Oxygen Down Town Comercial - Oxygen Sunken Mall With the drastic changes happeneing to the city, the education system was competly redone. Part of the revamp was a new city college right next to the new central park. The park features a pine forrest full with an observation tower, hunters cabin, dirt trails, and spring. There also is a lake, tennis courts thanks to PEG industries, basketball, skatepark, baseball diamond, and soccer field. Oxygen Central Park After the park was built, a few more sections of of subarb tracks were added. They were of course surounded by PEG industries seasinal tree imports. A highly colorfull and adictive tree to foluate your city with. - Oxygen in the fall - Oxygen Color Trees
  19. Thank you lookinin. . . I wasn't realling trolling for posts, but I am doing a major post a thon tonight. I was more relizing that I haded replied to jacqulina yet and wanted to thank. I am actuly enjoying posting my city. I hope that my new format of hosting full sized images off site is liked. I have relized that I enjoy alot of screenshots. And while I have broadband, I know not all do. In the future some of my pictures might be a little larger, I'm not sure yet because I have all ready set up sizeing and gif ing (if you didn't notice I trimmed the pictures for faster load speed). Well hope you enjoy... there is defently more to come.
  20. Nitrogrn Update: This is the the new terrien that is the site for Nitrogrn. Yes I did spell the name wrong, but that is ok. I can't change the name now. Well history. The city was founded as a farming community do to the fact that the land is really large deposits of silt that has been growing over time. Nitrogrn New Terrien This is the layout of the sleepy farming comunity of Nitrogrn. Growth is planned as there is more fertal soil to be had. Nitrogrn Layout Day With an Avenue entering and exiting the town a civic center was needed for the town. After carefull planing a large round-a-bout was created with all the buildings in the middle. Altough the population was booming; for a farm town; no plans have been made for more educational facilities. A few more fire stations have been considered to keep the BSC turkey farms from smoldering. Nitrogrn Down Town With the expanding farms, plans for a residential track were made and implemented. Unfortently, they hired the contracter from neighboring city Oxygen. Plans for future neighborhoods are in the works, but they want to hire a new contractor in hopes of expanding the horizon of square neighborhoods. Nitrogrn Residential Track After the residential boom, a new grave and church were added close to one of the neighborhood. Makes you wonder just what religion a sim is. . . First Church and Grave
  21. Thank you jacqulina for all your comments. I plan on contining to update regardless of replies. I know there are some great people out there doing cool looking cities, but I hope that this CJ will be a journal of what we all started at. Also the way that this journal is falling out shows how I feel a real region get populated. I live in the Greater Seattle area in Washington State US, and if you drive around it looks half hazard at times. Small sections of the city are organized, but there are dead ends that used to go through; interesting neighborhoods, and such. This region I hope will turn out to be interesting. I am buldozing when needed as you might see in my last update, Im also just going with it. I dont' have a plan, I just have a piece of land and am moving the Sims in. I hope all who read this Journal Enjoy
  22. Hydrogen Update: This is the day, Night, and zone layout for Hydrogen as it is now. - - Hydrogen Layout Day - Hydrogen Layout Night - Hydrogen Layout Zones The Comercial District got expanded. There is now a few larger buildings with a subway and some plaza in the middle. Hydrogen Expanded Comercial Area With the growing city and expanded residential buildings, a small park and civic center was added in the center of town. Hydrogen Park After the addition of the educational civic buildings, a call for a university was put out. After a major leveling project the university was put in as well as university park. Hydrogen University District After the addition of the university park a call came out for a minor league stadium. It was nesteled up on the hill side by the light residential zones. Hydrogen Minor Leauge Stadium When mayor H went to bed, Hydrogen had a bustling 20 + thousand citizens. Mostly were low wealth do to the pollution, but with ajasent Oxyegen being full of high wealth they couldn't stand that city as much.
  23. I have worked on both hydrogen and oxygen. I also started a farming comunity of nitrogrn. Yes i spelled it wrong, but didn't notice till to late. I will break up the updates into 3 posts and am going to use thumbnails to speed up load time. If you want to see them, i'm making links to a website so you can see in all there glory.
  24. Oxygen started with a residintial distric as all good cities should. I started with a diffrent layout. I'm using some radious mode for all the civic buildings, and am not sure if I like or not yet, it helps city, but don't know if it is realaistic, which i don't want cheat buildings other than my money cheat which i try and remove, only use to get extra money cause i'm not as good as some in development. That being said here it is. This was the mayors briliant idea on how to deal with traffic. While there has been no congested streets, there are alot of complaints of noise. It is yet to be proved weather this will work or not, but here is his sunken ave conection. Discovering that the flats around the river were great deposits of silt, some locale farmers jumped at the idea of growing here. The first bridge in Oxygen. This goes the the newly developing Farming Flats. After the farms moved in a few residents picked prime land by the water making a nice agraculter distric. not wanting to be left out in the cold the industrial district connected to both the residiential and hydrogen through this half sunken ave. Getting happy with the growing city, city counsel in a yet undedermind good or bad decision hired NAM to make a road overpass. This and all the ally ways seam to make the residence unhappy, but city counsel still argues I looks nice, I don't understand why they don't like it. After all of the developing has been done a surpluss in budget was seen. so the heart of the residential was born. All the needed was put in around an interesting roundy.
  25. Thanks. I may not be as pretty as some of the CJ's out there, but I would like to make an effert. I think I have some good ideas and some bad, but I will do my best. Suggestions are always welcome, eather good or bad. I would like to know what you think.
