All the regions I've seen of Vancouver don't really include Stanley Park since its such an odd shape. Plus the include mostly North Delta, New Westminster or North Vancouver. Vancouver is actually really small. Smaller than Calgary! (1.1 million on Jan 1st 2004!!!). It just all the suburbs like Coquitlam and Metro Town that make it look sooooo big.
It doesn't matter, Other world cities such as Sydney, San Fransisco, Seattle all have small city proper populations, but adding their suburbs which is counted as their metro area, is what really counts. Vancouver 2.5 million people including its suburbs and Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, which are basically a part of Greater Vancouver.... its a big city. Calgary just has barely one million people in its entire metro area. I think you need to check your brain, because all those cities you mentioned above are a part of greater Vancouver, 580,000 is the city of Vancouver itself without counting its suburbs.
