I see plenty of negative responses to this lot. It's unbelievable that people are criticising someone that is doing what EVERYONE on this site is doing -> Changing and modifying the game so that it is what they want it to be. Whether it be making more money, making better looking trees, cheating the transportation tools or anything, it's all cheating to some extent because no one here is playing a full vanilla game. I think everyone should stop criticising someone else because they aren't playing the game in a 'correct' way in their eyes. Just have fun. Oh yes, I like this lot as well. It works well and helps me build the city without financial limitation. Thanks

Your opinion - What is the best way to start a city?
LioRose replied to LioRose's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Most definitely something that is most important in a city, the transportation and commute times. I am slowly getting that one figured out. I Like this! I never thought of surrounding an area with farm land and then slowly 'eat up' each one with a larger city. I will have to try this on a new map! -

I'm new here to Simtropolis and fairly new to SimCity 4. I know what's up with that!? I just never understood it when I was younger and now I get it and love it. Unfortunately I find my self messing up my sleep cycle playing this.... >.> Any who. This post is to ask - What is the best way to start a new city? - In my opinion, and from experience, the best way to build a city is lots of time and patience, and to build slowly. It's best to build a good small base and to go on outwards until you hit the limits. Then I usually just keep improving the quality of life for my little sims. I always get to the part where I have a fairly pollution free city, a few traffic issues, but beautiful buildings that can house about 4000 people. I haven't got to the point of real skyscrapers yet. I always seem to get bored and want to start out fresh. Once my map is filled I assume I will go back to older cities and really get them to network and rise far beyond the clouds. So. that's how I start my cities. It's also just a little mention toward how I play SimCity 4. My goal is to build small cities, that look good and somewhat real. What do you do? What do you aim for? I see a lot of people on the internet strive for HUGE cities and MASSIVE building but seem to do so at a cost of the beauty of the city... Share your thoughts. I'm just hoping to weave myself in the SimCity 4 community. This way I know what I am doing for when the new SimCity comes out in Feb. 2013!!! =)
