He was generally happy with how his flegling town was growing, but felt it still needed something. He was also still slightly upset over the fires that had broken out months previously. After a brief walk through downtown, he decided what needed to be done. First, Artimus arranged for a small park to be built near the elementary school. As repentence for what Artimus felt were his prior short-comings, he did not spend any money on either of these improvements. Artimus paid for them out of his own pocket, however on paper it simiply showed that an anonymous donor paid for the parks. Several national chains were starting to move into the area. Some of the most popular spots in the commercial district were the Bob Evans and Captain Jack's Seafood restaurants that had opened. He was especially relieved that the blaze was confied to a small area by the streets around the houses. He was so dismayed though, that he locked himself into his office & drank for three days. During the entire three days Artimus' secretary, Sheila Selig, constantly pounded on his office door and buzzed him through the intercom system begging him to come out. After lunch on the third day, he was finally beginning to tire of her constant baggering. Plus, he had a meeting in two hours with his government contact at the Congressional Center and needed to get cleaned up. So, with much secrecy he called for his driver and snuck out the back door. The blaze and proceeding abscence of the mayor was already beginning to make the towns people begin to talk. They didn't need any further reason for controversy. Luckily, anyone who called the mayor's office was told by his secretary that he was out of town on business. During his meeting with his contact, Artimus was so upset by the fire that he was adamant that Tarrytowne receive fire protection as soon as possible. He was so insistant that he was able to secure funding from the government so that Tarrytowne could establish a fire department. The government would give Tarrytowne a grant to build several fire stations. The government would also purchase the fire apparatus to place in service as well. Tarrytowne would be responsible for providing the fire department personnel however. Artimus was further able to broker a deal to lease the apparatus -- Tarrytowne would pay $5 per piece of apparatus per year over a 10 year period. It was believed that the money saved over the 10 years would enable Tarrytowne to purchase their own replacement apparatus and the government could reassign their apparatus throughout the country. On February 23, 1937, Tarrytowne placed into service the first of it's fire stations. This station held two fire engines and would cover much of the residential district. I've gone back through and started to upload my new and improved pics. I've also begun updating my previous posts to my new style. Hope everyone likes the new and improved Tarrytowne CJ.

For my pics, I take the picture and then crop out what I don't want. Then, I resize the image to a width of 600 and let the computer automatically resize the height. Sometimes though, I make the width 750 with auto height adjustment just because when you shrink it to a width of 600 the picture gets distorted.

dhoppei: Thanks. I try to work hard on making this a story, rather than just a collection of pictures. I tend to like those kinds of CJ's better. In the future though, I have considered changing my format a little though. I've seen some people make custom graphics to show the update #. I also just love your picture frames. I would like to update my entire CJ to this format sometime very soon. As for the mosque, it is the BSC Alabaster Mosque by SimGoober. It is a reward lot that comes with a city version AND a desert version. The footprint is green for the city (the one I used) and sand color/texture for the desert version. Artimus was well on his way to making a new name for himself. He had a nice size town going and all seemed well with the world. That was until his secretary burst into his office and screamed There's a fire downtown! A fire? What are we to do? thought Artimus. Tarrytowne, up to this point did not have a problem with any kind of fires and so nobody had thought to build a fire station yet. By the time Artimus arrived at the site, several houses were ablaze. With Tarrytowne's population increasing, so were it's religious demands. Several Muslims had moved in to the area, and so came with them another addition to Tarrytowne's religious facilities -- the Tarrytowne Mosque. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//34--Mosque.jpg align=baseline> Artimus was now also well on his way to educating his people. He knew that an elementary school would not be enough to fully educate his people, so plans had already been on the books for some time to build both a high school and a community college. Artimus was also actively trying to pursue a private school or christian academy to build in Tarrytowne as well. On August 31, 1936, Tarrytowne High School opened it's doors to it's first students. Within days, everyone attended a special ground breaking ceremony for Farms 'R Us. Mr. Englewood was not happy that his suggestions weren't enacted completely, however under the chain of command this is what happens sometimes. So, he swallowed his displeasure and began working towards the greater good of the community. He attended several meetings each day for various reasons, so it was very difficult to squeeze in yet another meeting but he somehow managed to do it. He met with Mr. Carengy once in the morning and once in the afternoon each and every day. Since planting season for the early crops had passed, they decided to get a jump on the late planting season as soon as possible. It was decided by Mr. Carengy that to meet this deadline, construction would have to proceed 24/7. After reading about this latest set back, Artimus was floored. Once again, he had unintentionally neglected a portion of his population. With that, he had his secretary collect any and all information that she could find on farm supply stores. Artimus poured over this information for days. Twice, he met with Director Englewood to determine what was best for the farming community. Please be aware that I have taken your suggestions and comments into careful consideration during my decision making process. I have, however, decided to go a slightly different route than what you have suggested. Even though I am going in a different direction than suggested, I do believe that it will benefit Tarrytowne greatly. I have procured a parcel of property close to the agriculture district. On this parcel of land, we will be building an agricultural supply distribution center. Once constructed, we the city have agreed to purchase a Farms 'R Us franchise which will be housed in this building. The parcel of land purchased by the city will be large enough that, should the need arise, the building and operations can be expanded. I do believe that this decision is in the best interest of the community as a whole. Since this construction project is of an agricultural nature, your department will be working side-by-side with the city's Special Projects Director. I have appointed Samuel Carengy to this position, due to his vast experience in multiple fields of study including construction, management, finance and public works. On February 25, 1936 Artimus appointed John Englewood to the Bureau of Farm Management as the Director of Agriculture. Within days of his appointment, Artimus received a memo on his desk. While I have found several serious and many non-urgent problems, I have found one problem that simply begs for attention. I simply cannot successfully fulfill the job duties of Director of Agriculture and let this issue go at the same time. All of the farms located in Tarrytowne require many, many hours of intense physical labor to produce the food necessary to sustain it's population. Unfortunately, however, that intensene physical labor has become increasingly difficult as the size of our farms grow. This is due to the mechanics involved in the overall operations of a farm. Many of the farmers in Tarrytowne are in desperate need of supplies, machinery, etc., but are unable to purchase them. This is because there are no locations at which these items can be purchased within a several hundred mile radius. Those farmers that can take the time out of their day to travel this distance are becoming increasingly overloaded on their return trips, because all of the farmers are giving them a long list of needed items. It is as a result of these conditions, Mayor James, that I respectfully suggest that you immediately procure a location nearby from which our farmers can procure the necessary items to conduct the day-to-day operations of our agriculture community. Should you decide to invite a corporate entity, such as the Farm Supply Store or Farms 'R Us into the area, please consult with me first so that I may review the necessary paperwork prior to signing any agreements. Great. I will download DatGen. I want to edit some of the stuff I've downloaded. I can't stand scrolling down through a menu and having 15 Open Grass Area in a row. I just found this thread and I must say...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! I just have one question though...I downloaded about 25 BATs from this thread over the last two days...and some from the websites the thread points too...but, I want to ask if they show up in English or Japanese...meaning the descriptions/queries...if they show in Japanese, is there any way to change that? maybe one of the programs from the Modding section? I think these will add alot in my game play, especially with my CJ but I want to make sure they show so that I can read them...

Cool region so far. One thing you may want to download is the new BSC Farm Packs. These new farms are TOTALLY REALISTIC looking. They also developed what they call BTE Enhanced farms. Basically, they are farms that now give you specific farm-related rewards. After all of Artimus' construction plans were completed, the city was very low on money. Artimus wanted very much so to no have to go into debt to the government, at least not any more than he already was. So, for about a year, Tarrytowne ran pretty much business as usual. In July of 1935, Artimus began a few more construction projects. First off all, he still had a promise to keep to his people. Tarrytowne was still without a City Hall. Since he had promised to build one after the government center was built, he finally began construction in late August, 1935. He also needed to have a new Bureau of Farm Management office built within the government center at the same time. While City Hall was being built, Artimus held many meetings and focus groups with his people so that they could decide the structure of their government. The laws needed to establish the government would be written and the elections would all be held while construction was underway. Once the government structure was determined, Artimus signed Law 21-10.6223 Tarrytowne Government Charter. The government structure was as follows: Mayor Artimus James | Assistant Mayor | Town Manager * Town Attorney * Board of Town Regants | Comptroller of the Treasury * Public Works Mngr * Roads Department Mngr * School Superintendant Parks Department Mngr * Transit Authority Mngr * Human Resources Department Mngr Police Chief * Fire Chief * Budget & Finance Department Mngr * Airport Authority Mngr Bureau of Farms Mngr Each one of the departments created would have administrative assistants, supervisors, managers, workers, etc. Each of the higher level positions would also have administrative assistants. The Board of Town Regants was a town council that would meet bi-weekly. The mayor and assistant mayor would both hold positions on the board. The board would be charged with the every day operations of Tarrytowne and would report to the Assistant Mayor. Even though they would be on the same level as the Town Manager and Town Attorney, they would have no direct power over the departments below them. All of the departments created would have their head position appointed by the mayor, with approval by the Board of Town Regants. Construction of both buildings was scheduled to be completed on February 8, 1936. It was a beautiful summer day in 1934. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping. The day was a poetic dream on a Norman Rockwell painting. Artimus was starting to go cross-eyed staring at the mounds of paperwork that cluttered his desk. He stared out his office window overlooking the river at a white fluffy cloud lazily floating across the sky and thought to himself This would be a great day for a walk. With that, Artimus had the city limo take him to the park and drop him off. He planned on strolling through the park for a while and then walking back to his office. As he walked, people in the park greeted him with vigor and enthusiasm. It wasn't often that the general public could just walk up to the mayor and shake his hand and have a normal conversation. He was about halfway through his walk when suddently a youth on a skateboard crashed into the mayor. They both went sprawling to the ground with a THUD! The child jumped up and said Man, I ain't not be meanin ta did this! Artimus was appreciative of the child's attempt at an appology, but was takin aback by his lack of proper grammar. Where did you learn to speak like that? he asked the boy. Me, well my folks did jus be teachin me. They both been being to some place that learned em a long time ago. the boy replied. With that, the boy jumped back on his skateboard and sped off into the crowd. Many people came over to see if Artimus was ok, but he was more worried about what the child had just said. He wasn't so much worried with the fact of what the child actually said, but more with how he said it. The boy genuinely had no clue of what proper grammar was. He took stock of his situation and looked around the park. It was then that he realized that there were many, many children playing in the park. But why? he thought to himself as he looked at his watch. It was 11:30 AM on a Thursday morning. It was then that he realized he had not yet provided any source of education for his people. With that, he cut his walk short and immediately rushed back to his office. Once inside of his office, he sat and stared at all of his awards, diplomas and such and none of them meant anything to him at that moment. He immediately called his government contact and arranged for a survey company, architect and contractor to immediately begin construction on an elementary school. He knew that his city would never become great without an education for his people. The construction lasted only a few short months. Once it was finished, Law 21-00.62 Education for the Masses was enacted. It mandated that all children attend school beginning at age 5 and go through the 12th grade. It also made it illegal for anyone to drop out of school prior to graduation. Artimus had seen the pit-falls that many drop-outs fell in to. During one of his weekly phone calls to his government contact, while they were discussing construction contracts, Artimus was told there would be an unexpected construction company building within his city. He was told that the government had decided to build a Regional Congressional Center in his government center. Arrtimus was outraged that he was being told what would be built within his city, but he soon remembered his prior identity and what would happen to him if the government leaked who and where he was. Artimus also realized how many jobs this could potentially bring to the community. So, after round the clock construction the Tarrytown Regional Congressional Center opened it's doors in late 1934.
