  1. Island cities

    I have a city on an island, and therefore the only connections I can make with neighbors are via seaport and airport. My advisor tells me every 10 minutes to make road connections with my neighbors, but obviously he's an idiot. Will this affect demand cap limits or whatever? Will my city grow really slowly because of this? I have about 8k sims in the city now. Any mods to remove the demand cap? And could someone quickly explain exactly what the cap is/does?
  2. Ok, apparently a long time ago I downloaded a mod that includes dirt sidewalks basically... so my cities look trashy now. Wondering if anyone had any idea how to remove this... I don't remember what mod it was, but I've cleared out all of my plugins and still no luck. Any ideas?

    Ohhh, thats what they were, they weren't in the program files folder... they were in the My Documents one... ok, got it fixed, thanks!
  4. I downloaded the latest NAM the other day. I wanted to do some quick tests of it, so I set up a simple 5-tile road and put a home and work place on opposite ends. The 5-tile trip had a commute time listed as "Long." ** ??? ** The commute time graph showed commute times were nearly 25 minutes for my sims to walk to the 5 tiles. (Thats how they were getting to work, by walking). So I put the home and workplace across the street from each other. Commute times dropped to ~8 minutes (walking) and commute was still listed as "Long." ** ??? ** Looking for some insight into this... any ideas?
  5. Spore and secuROM - Update on Page Two

    Anyone who has a computer capable of running Spore will probably have the internet as well. Why is this such a huge deal? Obviously a hacker/pirate would be worried about this... Sorry, but I think the word "totalitarian" is way too strong for this and sounds just plain melodramatic. Get a life, people.

I really love your maps, but I have vista so the Mapper just won't work, nor will the terraformer I really want Lake Invermere though.. can these maps be converted to the black and white bmp's so I can use the old ctrl+shift+alt+R trick and upload like that.... Thanks for any help, or if you know how to get the programs to work on Vista (impossible, it seems)
  8. let me elaborate.. when I use the TF, the map image loads up with the option to save the image, but nothing else loads up. no file menu, etc. it all used to work fine then it just stopped. any ideas?
  9. That's the thing... the TF worked at one point now it doesnt.... How can I make sure it's allowed?

  11. I downloaded some buildings on the STEX that I love, but a lot of them come with model files, desc files, mod files, all this stuff! I don't know which ones to put in my plugins folder. I can usually tell the difference between landmark and growable lots because it says so in the title, but are all landmarks a certain file type and likewise for growable ones? Also, how do I get my growable lots to actually grow? It seems that none of them will grow Any helpful links on how to do all this and get it all worked out, or help here, would be appreciated!

  13. Using Gmax, advice, tips and feedback.

    Ok, kinda stuck here. I used the basic spline technique to make the walls. However, I didnt include the windows at the time because I didnt know what size the building would end up being. (House, apartments, etc) So is there any way that I can cut a hole in the extruded splines that I have right now?
