City tile completely disappeared (recover?)

Ok thanks anyways I ended up just remaking the city from scratch. I'm so glad it was just one of my small city tiles, and not my big city that I spent countless hours on. From now on I am making backups. But I must say, it's pretty bad programming in this game, as there are crashes quite often -
So I went to save one of my city tiles, and right when i did, a "fire" was generated and a screen popped up saying I could not save my city while there was a disaster occuring. So I took care of the fire (the fire ended), and I tried to save my city again, but this time it acted like it was trying to save for about a minute, then the screen flickered, there were some pink lines, and it took me out to the region view. Unfortunately my city had been completely deleted and I could not click on the region tile where the city was anymore. It's like the game took that tile out of the region completely, and there was just a water image there instead. I tried deleting the city in my regions folder, and then importing the file back in, but unfortunately it didn't work. It's like the game saved my city, but because of the error it saved it as a non-existant tile lol. Is there a way to get my city back? Luckily it was a small region tile, so I'm going to just rebuild that city where it was unless there is some way to get my city back from a prior save? Needless to say, I've now found out how to copy my city save files to back them up.

How to relieve congestion on my bridges?
Velo222 replied to Velo222's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Ya I just had a road bridge. I don't know why I didn't think about starting the bridge with an avenue or highway, I just had a brain fart I guess lol. So I will make some "highway bridges" now. That should help a lot I bet, I havn't gotten back into the game yet though to actually do it. That is a good idea with the parking garages too, I will try that. It's good to see people still play this game and have some good ideas. I've enjoyed Simcity since the original one, but Simcity 4 seems to have a lot of traffic problems that are hard to fix for me. I was relieved to see that subways could go under-water too. -
How to relieve congestion on my bridges?

I forgot about dragging avenues and highways over the river to make the bridge! Thank you for reminding me lol. Maybe that is what the advisor means, I completely forgot. I did know about subways going under-water, and I have one already, but I will maybe put some subway entrances by the ends of my bridges too and just make some more? Thanks for the reply that is what I was looking for. I will definitely "upgrade" my bridges now with avenue and highway bridges -
Just wanted to post that this helped me out a lot. It seemed logical to me that sims would opt to take highways, even if they had to go a little out of the way. Good to know they don't lol. I think I'll have to start getting rid of a lot of the side-streets in my city to force them to use the avenues and highways.

What the heck is going on with my city?
Velo222 replied to Hybr1d's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I have this problem too right now. First of all, I don't have a solution really, but I'll just explain what I do as well. I tried placing some low/medium density commercial zones right beside my residential zones (I have a ton of high wealth residential zones). This helped a little bit, but I still have no-job zots on some houses. Secondly, I clicked on the "route" mode and looked at one of my high-wealth residential skyscrapers (it was a big building with lots of residents), and I noticed that most of the residents only went about 3-4 "city blocks" down the road and worked in some small shops not too far away (in my opinion they were not too far away at all). HOWEVER, the commute time was "long" lol. I know Simcity 4 is a real stickler on commute times, but this seems ridiculous to me. In other Simcity games the route I just described would be considered short -- only being a couple city blocks away. Sooo, all in all, as I don't have a solution for this, all I can say is that I think that however Simcity 4 "calculates" the commute time, it's really really really hard to get a short commute time. The building practically has to be sitting on top of where people work in order to get a short commute time lol. -
I have a region tile that contains my "main city". That is, it's the biggest city in my region so far. And I made a river that runs through the center of my city tile from top to bottom. The problem is, I had really high congestion on my first bridge that I built across this river, so to solve that problem, I simply built another bridge. However now, both bridges are congested, and I really don't want to keep on making bridges, as it would be an eye-sore to me -- having like 16 bridges over my river would look really dumb to me lol. My "advisor" said that I could upgrade the bridge to accomodate for higher volume, but I see no such option? Is it even possible to "upgrade" a bridge in Simcity 4? So, my main question, is how can I relieve the congestion on my bridges without having to build too many of them? I already have two passenger ferries (or whatever you call them) transporting people by boat as well. Thanks for any suggestions.
