If the maps were larger it wouldnt matter, but yeah.. I find it annoying I cant zone them or put parks by them.. -
Is this game worth the $40 on Amazon?
asasa45454 replied to Charizard's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I payed $27 for it.. and thats about the most I could see myself spending without kicking myself over it. Bugs aside, its not a great game. Despite having more "behind the scenes" than SC4 and the past, its so limited and focused that it seems to lack depth, really. If you're like me and the online only didnt really bother you [i still know its not right, dont kill me >.>], then you'll still be disappointed by the complete lack of online features. Playing with random people, they may as well be bots. There is no real interaction between the cities beyond what we had before.. I have X workers needing jobs, they commute to other city. Whoopee. But now, you cant even decide how you want them to travel there.. the connection is set and you cant do a thing to change it. While it may change in the future, so far every region I've built in has gone mostly idle. Maybe 1 person plays on it per day? The majority of the other 15 cities [Due to server issues, only map available is a 16 city one] havent been played since the region was made. And since the cities are put in subgroups in the region of 4x4, your likely to be left alone after a few days with nothing but the same incomplete cities surrounding you. Unlike SC4 where I could spend weeks on the same city without feeling like I was anywhere near complete, I can now get that feeling in a day. I dont find myself feeling attached to cities. Its easy to leave them behind and forget about them because everything is the same in here. Once you've made a few cities, you've made them all. I remember someone saying that in the reviews and I thought they were crazy.. but it seems true to me. But a lot of people love it, so.. -
Ground water drying up too fast!
asasa45454 replied to Vinicius Maciel's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
AFAIK buying resources from a neighbor doesnt actually take anything from them, its all fake. The "resources dried out" or whatever baloney the game says makes no sense, as it happens when you meet your own water needs and no longer need imported water.. Its all a fake to make it seem like the multiplayer is actually complex. Sewage treatment always works, you must be placing it wrong or not have enough sewage. Unlike the image shown earlier, they should not branch off of the same road. The water treatment facility should be back to back with the sewage plant, and the sewage plant should wrap around it. -
Commercial and tourists
asasa45454 replied to ScottyDoesKnow's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I wish I was as lucky as you. I have all casinos, maxed, 2 of both stadiums and expos, with signs.. plus a lot of commercial nearby, trains, streetcar, busses, and planes... 300 tourists a day. Casino profit is -230k a day... events are like -500k. Needless to say that city is screwed. -
Advanced Safety/Utility buildings are too expensive!
asasa45454 replied to Ghachii's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
This post was deleted.--hym Likewise deleted because it referenced deleted material.--hym As for services though.. they seem pretty unnecessary to me. As long as you have reasonable education, fires, crime, and medical issues are pretty minimal. That is unless you have dirty industry.. I find the game to be extremely imbalanced in favor of medium wealth residents & HT industry. There are no savings to be made by having low wealth sims & dirty industry.. unless I'm doing it wrong? I mean, I've got a high wealth city [like 50$$$/30$$/20$ split] with no local industry and its profitable without specialization.. Doing the same for a low wealth city and/or with dirty industry is nearly impossible without tons of health issues, crime, fires... -
Selling raw ore/coal vs selling refined products
asasa45454 replied to SiriusOCC's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Raw material value will probably go up once the whole game is "unlocked" or whatever, for server load purposes. But right now yes, refining is the only way. -
DI am on SC4 Deluxe, and the game ran flawlessly on my last hardware after applying the eh:off cpucount:1, etc., but just this week I upgraded my processor and memory from a Q9450 + 2gb DDR2 to an i7 3820 + 16gb DDR3. For whatever reason, the game crashes at random. This isnt a huge deal to me.. but after the crash, I hear an endless buzzing noise. Ending processes and whatnot does not stop it. The system itself does not freeze, I can play music, start SC4 again, log off.. etc.. but nothing stops the noise. Plugins are the same as last system, copy pasted over -- CAM + NAM, opera house fix, etc. Does anyone have any idea on how to prevent the crashing or the noise? Thank you in advance. EDIT: This time I got a crash which included an error. No endless buzzing, though. The weird "smearing" is not related to the crash, I guess I'll ask this here too: Is this inherently part of running at 2560x1440? I see it isnt listed as supported. Also, are lighthouses supposed to be unlimited?

@Jack, Im saying its not making enough pollution. Coal plants always used to make large red circles [high pollution] and gradually drop off, not just a 1 block moderate pollution chunk. Just a few trees and all the pollution is gone. This makes it difficult to use Coal as a kickstarter as I dont even have any repercussions to use it then and forever. @Nonny: Thanks, I could definitely try this. Id still much prefer to find what is wrong, but at least that will make it possible to maintain CO$$$/R$$$
-
Tried a different copy of the game with the same issue. Game is unplayable like this
-
Okay, I disabled vehicle air pollution altogether Theres no way that coal plant pollution is normal... does anyone know what files control.. err, idk.. building data?
-
Ive already destroyed the entire industrial district and the pollution surrounding it left, but the pollution within the city remained. Two more pictures: Bottom right: Abandoned residences with no commuters, abandoned from pollution. Also, the coal plants poollution is still mild :??? Destroying them and the pollution is gone. Its not industry :/
-
Nope, havent touched any game files.. only added in critical plugins :/ I've tried reinstalling multiple times and removed plugins to no avail. Made sure to erase anything left behind by the uninstaller and whatnot.. Heres the zones you asked for, with a pollution and standard view from the same vantage point.
-
yes, but what i mean is that the pollution has a set radius. it wont leave that [afaik] also if you look at the last few pictures, the coal plant is producing very little pollution.. so does this mean my files are corrupted?
-
I dont think anyone understand what my problem is... Residential buildings themselves, and some commercial ones, are creating pollution. Not traffic, not industry.. the buildings themselves. And then the coal plant is barely making any pollution? I've got a fresh install, unused regions, etc... same result. @yarahi: AFAIK, pollution doesnt move realistically in SC4. It stays within its radius and has some visual smog shown in highly polluted areas.. but it doesnt travel.
-
Its not smog in the pictures I've shown above. "If I bulldoze dezone the areas, the pollution goes away :?" By that I meant bulldozing the residences, the pollution went away in that area. I dont really like to cheat so I figured I'd keep industry with it and deal with the consequences -- but this seems like a bug.
-
Hmm, well, removing all my plugins didnt remove the pollution. Do pedestrians create pollution? Because I just cant understand how a lone area of the city where the people walk to work could be polluted. I should mention the red area is industry. Everything outside of that main circle is pollution created by, eh... I dont really know.
-
A Nonny Moose; it looks as if your initial assumptions were spot on. The sound card was damaged by a junky adapter, and since removing it.. no crashes! TYVM I dont think its worth making a new thread, so here is another issue: What on earth is causing this pollution? I have just a few mods: NAM, CAM, Large Nuclear Power Plant [+ some other plants], opera house fix, road top mass transit, and I think thats it. If I bulldoze dezone the areas, the pollution goes away :? Is it intended for residences to produce enough pollution to abandon nearby CO$$? DOH, forgot the image links..

I'm on Win7 Home Premium 64bit. Since I cant install it... err, it -- must be something else?

Sim City 2013: Wealth Levels and Reason of Abandonment
asasa45454 replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
As long as there is a way to combat traffic noise I would like to see it have an effect. Mass transit, walls, roads being used under capacity [honking, accidents contribute to noise] We really dont know much if anything about how these factors are going to work in SC2013 so it's hard to say. -
For all of my setups I've used to play simcity, hardware rendering was always choppy while software was not. Not sure why. Can you please clarify on the C++ update or whatnot? I get an error installing it no matter what I try.
-
This is my command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\SC4.exe" -f -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r2560x1440x32 -EH:off -CPUcount:1 -d:Software Does that look right? Thanks.
-
I dont understand what you mean by that. If it were a hardware issue, I cant see why a certain game's crash would be the only trigger. Still, I checked and its all in tight. Thank you, I'll be sure to use that, always used the ..."settings" save before. Tried to find whatever that is and couldnt. Tried 3 different files all calling themselves some sort of VC6 from microsoft and none of them would install. The smearing only occurs at 2560x1440 and as far as I can tell it looks to be "unsupported" Thanks again.
