Ive never noticed this CJ before, but thanks to your comment in Levante, I now have and Im glad. I read all three pages, and I must say your portrayal of the tornado disaster was fantastic. I love Bloomingdale as well, with the little facts you throw about the towns a nice addition. I'll definitely be following.

This is an image from my new region, Levante. The town is called Southport, and the picture is of its "downtown" area. The town is just surpassed 5,000 people. I had my SimCity CD stolen along with my laptop, so I had about a 5 month hiatus from the game, its good to be back! Hopefully I'll get a CJ of some sort going soon.

One of the most impressive start to a CJ I have ever seen. You really got my curiousity going, and I want to see more of each part of the city (or is it different cities?) In any case, more!

Its funny you mention how CJs are all about personal opinion, then you go on a rant about what you dont like to see in CJ and therefore shouldnt be in ANY CJ regardless of others opinions on the matter. The system, I think, tries to bring the popularity of CJs mathematically, and there is nothing wrong with it. Kobe Bryant's mathematical statistics read 35 ppg, 6 rpg, and 4 rpg. Does that mean he is the best player in the NBA? No. Are the stats provided to us still fun to read, and do they actually put things into perspective? Yes. Stop telling people how to enjoy the game.

Your city building skills are excellent and the amount of details you present is something I can only aspire to achieve in my own CJ.

RHF, your stories are always entertainings, as your new award points out. What I am really impressed with, however, is how you're city building ability has improved from CJ to CJ. Keep up the good work.

Early in 2000, a group of islands were discovered of the coast of West Africa, relatively near to the Canary Islands. Sensing an opportunity arising, the ever resourceful business tycoon known as Nedal bought yet ANOTHER piece of land in hopes of developing it ;-). Since the islands were completely uninhabited, Nedal thought it was best to build a way to get there, and thus he put in about $3 million to build a small seaport on the first spot he landed in when visiting this new world of his. The seaport, with the amount of construction workers and equipment he employed, was finished in a matter of months, so Nedal left the land to go back and focus of his business empire. Before he left, however, he announced to the world, and especially to all exporters and traders, that land was for sale near the seaport and upon request, he would be bonded warehouses for those who needed them to store their goods. In order to help attract these exporters, he cut shipment prices by 75% in his shipping company under one condition: the people that wanted that discount had to store goods in the new bonded warehouses. Requests came slow and rare, but there was some interest, albeit very small interest. Three businessmen who dealt with textile in the Cape Verde Islands and Senegal took Nedal up on his offer and stored their goods there. At the same time, Nedal began employing a few farmers to begin growing crops near the seaport. The initial response from the farmers was a good one; they claimed the soil was the best they had seen, that the vegetables and fruits that grew there were going to be one of a kind. Encouraging news indeed, and Nedal began shipping out very small quantities of these agricultural items to the countries of Cape Verde, Gambia, Senegal, and Mauritania. Before you know it, Nedal began receiving more calls for other businessmen in the area who wanted to take him up on the offer. And so the area grew more and more warehouses, as well as some more farms. Along with these growths came the first commercial venture in the land, a small food stall/takeaway for all the hungry farmers and people building and taking care of the new warehouses. It was built on the corner of the two roads, pictured below, and was called The Food Stop: http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/5828/begno220005fj.jpg align=baseline> ---------------------------------------- One of the farmers who was now working on the land also happened to be an expert in wood, considering he had worked in the Lumber Industry for about 20 years before realizing his love was working the fields. As more land was being cleared to make room for the farms, this farmer, called Bob Stenson, noticed that the wood found in the area was of exceptional quality. He contacted Nedal and informed him of this new discovery. Nedal quickly got to work, calling lumber companies all over the world and inviting them down to the new land to check out the wood for themselves. Most ignored him, 2 companies didnt. These two companies were based in Ghana, and flew the 3 hour flight to Dakar, then made the trip by sea to see this wood. They were not disappointed. They quickly signed contracts with Nedal to build lumber factories in the area. The population of the are has just pushed past 200, but it is expected to grow more as more and more interest in this new land is shown. I love the aerial pic. The neighborhoods are nice and realistic, and the same can be said for the seaport. Overall, a great update.

The Haven economy has been suffering as of late because its main money maker, the Haven Seaport, had lost all its business from Redson and Haughton Bay, and its business for Riverdale was slowly dwindling as well. However, there was still one thing going for them: the Haven Seaport was still the main port of entry for immigrants in Shamsia. The Haven officials figured if they could find a way to keep these new workers in Haven, the local economy could make a U-turn and begin reviving itself. A huge marketing campaign and benefits for foreign industries began in 2004, with Haven ceasing development on Verdana Avenue and using its budget to develop an Industrial Sector to rival that of Redson. Not only was the Haven Industrial Park much closer to the port than the Redson Industrial Sector, but it also had another huge advantage: efficient and effective rail access. In Redson, industries and businesses have to make a trip by trucks to ship goods out and in, and if they wanted to use rail, they would have to unload them at rail stations closer to Haven than Redson. However, at the new Haven Industrial Park, train depots were constructed right in the center, with immediate access to the Haven Seaport. The new jobs that were made available by the new Industrial Park, and demand was created. Haven's population soared to over 30,000, catching up to Redson in a very quick way. Since the Redson Im/Ex Office and the Clearcoast Seaport came to their agreement, the economy in Clearcoast has been booming. Traffic is up nearly 100% on the major roads in town, and the seaport is handling nearly 350% more than what is was working with before the agreement. Local shops are also benefiting, but the main beneficiary has been the Zenith Bank. The Zenith Bank has been offering special rates for businesses who decide to work with them, and since most of Redson industries are now operating out of the Clearcoast Seaport, it has been an advantage for them to do business with the Zenith Bank. Business has been so good for them that there is talks with Star Construction about them building their 2nd branch in Redson, but they have not yet found the right plot of land. Anyway, small update today (RL still got me on hold): The latest news coming out of Shamsia is the opening of the Honda facility in Riverdale. Situated to the northeast of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /> Tulmont Road, just south of Warehouse Lane, the new Honda facility is officially the biggest venture by a foreign company in the history of the land. Covering almost 200,000 sq. feet, the facility includes the Honda custom bonded warehouses, its main offices, and its showroom. The land and the construction cost Honda $6.5 million, and the showroom has been noted as one of the architectural marvels in Shamsia. One of the issues that came with the importation of cars into the country was the solidifying of the tax on cars. Before Honda built its facility, cars were taxed inconsistently, leading to corruption and scandal, especially by the Haven Seaport Authority. The HAS has since been under heavy investigation since the Redson incident, but one of the things that is no longer in question is the tax and duty on foreign imported cars. After studying the situation carefully, Nedal released a statement issuing how the cars should be taxed. Brand new cars (that is, cars that have been shipped directly from dealerships abroad, otherwise unused cars) will be imposed a tax of 4% from the price-tag. Cars who have been in operation between 1-5 years will be imposed a tax of 8% from the car
