  1. New York City more of the boroughs

Thanks for all the cool comments people, I haven't been around here for a wile, but it's nice to see you (still) like this map anyways.
  2. New York City boroughs

I've added the config bmp. You can quite easily modify it with paint in windows by the way. Just use red for small (1x1 km), green for medium (2x2 km), and blue for large (4x4 km) cities. Make sure that the color is completely saturated, so that red for instance would be 255,0,0 (r,g,b).

This one is a bit larger (60x60 km), and thus also covers a larger area (including all of staten Island:). It renders a bit better at sealevel, because I've blurred it a bit more. I had to blow up the dems to like 3x their size, so a lot of blurring was needed.. The scale is more or less accurate, Manhattan is about 21,5 km long in real life, and this translates to over 5 large cities on the map. Hope you'll like it! ps: I have added a config bmp for those without the means to make one.
  4. New York City boroughs

Thanks for the nice comments. The area originally covered by the dems was much larger, so I can make another map out of it, including all of staten island. I just cropped this one into a 10x10 large city region, and I preferred leaving out a bit of staten rather than some of the bronx

Made using 2 usgs dems. Took about 3 hours of work, and about 3 hours of rendering in the game (on my nausiatingly slow 650 mhz pc), only to find out that the shoreline renders badly, as you can see in the screenshot. This is almost certainly because of the low elevation along most of the shoreline. I've fixed this in the grayscale by making it just a little bit brighter. This should solve it, but I haven't actually tried it out because of the long rendertime... Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy it! ps: I havent made a config bmp yet, so make one yourself that'll suit your needs.
