I think a random terrain tool that will create terrain and vegetation would be nice. I know some people find thermoforming their cities to be fun and interesting (I do too up to a certain extent) but sometimes when doing large maps it tends to be a pain in the rear for me :$

Hillary Clinton to take on Rockstar over Hot Coffee

[rant][sarcasm] OMG!1!!1!!!1!one!! I can't believe that rockstar would do such a thing! I mean watching people make love!!! I mean I want to deal drugs, kill innocent pedestrians and cops by running them over, chopping them with chainsaws, and shooting them in various places causing their heads, arms and other body parts to pop off without having to deal with this dirt stuff rockstar has put into the game which I can't seem to access without going out of my way to do it!!!1[/sarcasm][/rant] Honestly, the part that pisses me off is the suggestion to prevent modding of all games. I swear these politicians have got to reseach into things before making suggestions just to get the vote of john and jane doe who know jack about computers and games other than the fact that their kids play them also, Arn' they just changing the rating to Adults only? Isn't that 18? as opposed to the old mature rating which was 17... Big difference -
Once again, looking forward to pics. Although you probably know this, http:://maps.google.com has some VERY high res satelite images of metro toronto if you need some. Download google earth if you can as it allows you to overlay road lines ontop of the satelite views. It gets a bit mroe blurry as you head towards missisagua and a bit more east of the malvern area (my home ).

Looking good. Love the Don river And I don't mind that scarborough will have to wait My schools on St.Clair anyways
-
Lookin good! Do scarborough first I believe our road layouts in scarborough are a bit easier to do since its just one big grid with the major streets. The only real turns for the major roads are near finch for most of em and around steeles since thats where Metro. TO ends.

Well i thought i'd give a shot at creating a cj This is from my region Bakers ville. 64 large tiles of terrain all terraformed (I just used photoshop and had fun). Here you go and hope its an enjoyable read: oh and thanks to SIMsite Picture Hosting for hosting images... EDIT (May 29, 2005) : My Apologies if the pictures fail to work... Ill fix them as soon as I can... EDIT (May 29, 2005) : Ok, all the pictures for the first six chapters have been re uploaded to imageshack! Should be working Chapter 1: From humble begginings.... The story starts here, in what is soon to be Bakersville. A very desolate place. Not much vegetation, not much water, not too many people with brains either. However this area became the last stop for the MC intercontinental railway. The only problem was that the next stop was over a hundred miles away. If some dumb person (and there were plenty of them...) missed their stop, they would have no choice but to ride it all the way out here and then go back. One bright person (a miracle prehaps) noticed that on average, there were atleast 20 people per train that missed their stops and came out here. However you have to wonder how exactly he found these things out.... So this person by the name of .... umm lets call him bob. age 20. ... decided to build his house here and set up a used car business. How a used car business would be of much use without any roads going anywhere is a mystery but the people who missed their stops weren't the sharpest tools in the rack either. (although bob would agree some had some nice racks.) here you see bobs house (a nice place considering he built it himself) and his car dealership. Anywho... Bob soon realized that he was becoming very rich. However he also realized that he had alot of money but nothing to eat. So the first farm in Bakersville was set up. here is bob now.. working in his field A few years passed and bob's car sales business started going down. He opted to spend some of the few thousand simoleans he had in building a cheap factory. People soon started coming in to work in it by train (most still by accident it seems...) Eventually the people realized it would be easier to move there. The first community of about a hundred people soon grew there. Overcrouding was a serious problem and finding 6 to 7 people living in a house was a common sight. The people worked in bob's factory, got paid by bob and used most of that money for food from bob's farm. A few years passed and the town still grew. A few people opted not to slave in farms and started businesses of their own. Here we see the first denta hygene store specializing in pig hair toothbrushes and toothpaste which is aparently called preperation H-ygene. However people soon complained of an odd aftertaste and forced the manager to change the brand to something more minty fresh. However the owner refused. The citezens outraged by ths act burned his company down along with all his toothpaste. However being the people they were, they forgot that they had no means of putting out the fire. The entire town burned that night. (and day.) The death toll was massive. Some peopel thought they were safe because their houses were made of pavement. However the only realized after their houses had burneed a while that it was only their driveways. Some people ran into the nearby river only drowining after realizing they couldn't swim and there was no point in trying. the aftermath Bob was found later on in his house (surprisingly untouched by the fire) drowned in a bowl of soup. Further investigation led to the report that he had apparently had a long night and had fallen asleed at the table. Unfortunatly he had chosen to eat chicken soup that morning instead of his usual toast with butter. The remaining survivors (all three of them) realized that there was no point in stayng here and took the nex traing (the station was amazingly unharmed ) out of town. ................ next insertion: return to bakersville ................ well so much for starting a city stay tuned for the next chapter.... oh and the region as we know it now... http://img206.echo.cx/img206/2264/107nh.jpg align=baseline> Comments, critisizm and the other c whatever it is, is welcome.

Thanks Mr.Cinatit for the tree download links however, what i was talking about was the main mod itself. The main site whose link you have provided works however, the download links on that site do not. That is what most of the people who are saying the link dosn't work are also talking about i believe

Wow i just read about this mod in one of Mr.Cinatit's journals and i am very impressed. However, the links on the site don't work

Chapter 8: The Factory There it was.... What I saw were trees... rows and .. well a row of them. The strange part was, the kept changing. From green, to orange and red, to all the leaves falling out, then back to purple with flowers and back to green again. The road went in between these trees. I followed it. Strangly, the road became paved again. As if whoever created had done it for a purpose. the trees soon ended and the road became a dirt road again. I had nothing to do but follow. My mind wandered off to what was happening in Palmsdale... or Oakston as i had heard the patrol say. I wondered what happened to teh rest of my freinds. So much to think about. However i had time so i kept going and thinking. Another big hill was infront of me, and little did i know another surprise was waiting in behind it! There was a factory. The first thing i noticed were that the trees here also changed colours as rapidly as the trees i had seen earlier on. I walked up to it. There was a big wind power plant to the side but it seemed as though the plant had been abandoned a long time before. I did what came first to mind and walked in. The plant was dusty and dark however i managed to find a light switch. I pushed it up and with a great moan the lights came on. A few popped here and there after being turned on after so long but there was sufficient lighting to see around. The plant was empty except for a corner where there was a desk. I walked up to it and looked at the pegboard behind it. There were pictures of a city, taken from very far up, and some from ground level. Suddenly it hit me. They were pictures of Bakersville. As it had been before the resettlement. There were photos of another bob it seemed. He was apparently the founder of the first city. I wondered what had happened to him. Hopefully he had died a peacfull death. Knowing the people there however, i half guessed that something stupid had caused his death.... Suddenly there was a voice behind me. Its about time you showed up. I was afraid i would have to leave without you! ********************************************** Anywho... another update with no one responding There are many people Viewing this thread but how come no one seems to respond? Comments Questions and Critique is welcome and VERY appreciated

I don't know if this has been done or not yet but how about this for an overpass avenue to groud highway or viceversa onramp? Many major roads in Scarborough (in Toronto) have these types of onramps. Forgive me if this has already been discussed or even created but i couldn't find it by fidling around with the NAM interchanges. Currently im doing this using oneways but i always end up making HUGE interchanges that don't look too realistic. (bigger than the ingame cloverleaf.)

Chapter 7: Down the road This town i have been in has grown quite a bit. Home to almost 46,000 people, i still don't know the name of it. The city has grown around the garden keeper's home. There's no one home. No one to answer the knocks of city officials. They couldn't do anything. So the built around it. They flattened my hill. The flattened manythings. They keep expanding. Its like a virus. They move and expand devouring resources until there are no more. then they move on to someplace else. When i came to this town, i built near the outskirts to get away from it all. However now the town has grown around me aswell. I needed to get away from it all. I knew I had to leave. So that Overcast October morning, I packed my bags and left. I passed one last time past the garden. I had never seen it up close. It felt strange to be there so i didn't stay long. I continued north to the bridge and went across. The bridge continued to the other side. The view was very scenic. I felt with great remorse however that i would be the last time i would see that beauty ever again. The highway soon changed into an avenue. The road became very uneaven and filled with potholes. It climbed up hills and down. The transitions were very rough. It was a very tedious task driving through here. Whoever had built these roads didn't seem to be very smart. Then suddenly, there was a loud screeching noise and smoke spurted out of my hood. I couldn't see! the car was speeding rapidly towards who knows what. The suddenly there was a crunch and the car lurched forward. The last thing i remmeber was seeing the airbags pop up.... I woke up a while later. I was still inside the car. There was a great pain in my head. I checked to see if anything was broken. When i realized that i was just really bruised up, I got gingerly out of the car. The first few steps were very painful so i sat down and pondered what to do. The car was a complete wreck. It had sped down the slope and had crashed into a barrier. I thought about giong back but soon i realized that there was no point. I had to continue going where i had to go. Away. I followed the road for a while until it became one lane in either direction. There was a strange humming sound but i couldn't understand whereit was coming from. To the right of me i could see the snow marking the tops of the insurpassable mountains. I must have been very close to the top. The road soon ended and all that was left to follow was a dirt road. I followed it. To my right now, there was a steep clif. It too looked very artificial. The edges were very straight. It was almost shapped like a rectangle. The edges were 90 degree angles. The humming was getting louder still. I realized what had looked so strange. there was no large vegetation. There were a few sploches of grass here and there, but there was nothing in the size of even a small bush or two! suddenly off in the distance i saw a bright pink line. The steep hil before it blocked my view from seeing it clearly. The climb was a tedious one as my body still hurt immensly from the crash. The strange part was, the dirt road still continued here. I peeked over the edge. What i saw changed the way i looked at things forever. **************************************************** Sorry for the long time since the last update folks. Been busy with school. Hope this last update perks your interest a bit. Commens questions and critiques are all welcome.

Another This is not a chapter Well I just thought i'd post an update on how Bakersville is evolving through all this hububble. This is downtown Bakersville as it sits today: http://img58.echo.cx/img58/9973/471nv.jpg align=baseline> As you can see Bakersville has gone a looong way from its previous state. Near the bottom we see the first main highway which ends abruptly a few miles to the east. There seemed to be no further need for it so a simple barrier was put up. The traffic jams there are enourmous as the people seem to have trouble deciding which way to go once they reach the end. We also see the rail bridge which goes over the highway. Previously the railway went over the highway but that was abandoned after many trains got stuck going halfway up and started rolling backwards towards the station again. We also see a small landing strip which the people cerimoniously named small landing strip Many people recomended that the industry should be pushed away to the outskirts of the city but that idea was given up after a valiant effort by many city officials to push the buildings. Many gave up complaining that moving buildings was imposible but some stayed behind, determined that they would eventually push the buildings to the east. However there efforts were abandoned after the city decided to demolish them and rebuild them instead. We also see many high rises including residential ones: http://img58.echo.cx/img58/7316/488im.jpg align=baseline> Here we see many of the Preston Buildings being set up side by side. The city realized it would be much easier to build this way. However many workers lost sight of which building they were working on and as a result many of the suites offered to residents include 4 kitchen 1 bedroom apartments and the prestigeos 4.3 toilets per washroom suites. Here we see the intersection of Main street (east west) and King st. (N S) http://img58.echo.cx/img58/8589/492pz.jpg align=baseline> Over 200,000 cars pass here each morning. This turned out to be a mystery since there are only a bit over 100,000 thousand residents living in the city. However it was soon discovered that people were taking shortcuts by doubling back 3 or 4 times in order to reach their destinaiton faster. When asked how exactly that cuts down on communte times almost 50% answered that they were following the advice of others. 49% answered that they have no clue, and 1% said they would be back after they bought some coffee across the street, got in their cars and were seen driving back and forth a few dozen times before stopping across the street at the local coffee shop. http://img58.echo.cx/img58/9210/508tf.jpg align=baseline> The suburbs of Bakersville. Much of this place is still not developped although residents belive the reason may be to new inhabitants being scared away by a curious green or blue tint to the ground. City officials waved this off as being spraypainted grass however offered no eplanation on the reasons they were there. some businesses set them selves parralel to the highways but soon went out of business as there seemed to be frequent traffic accidents as commuters slowed down to make the sharp turns off the highway into the businesses. The smart companies who built their entrances facing the parralel road soon abandoned to due to the frequent number of cars flying off the freeway and into their businesses. One such driver was quoted saying I thought the sign said drive through? And finnaly here is a picture of the city scape at night. http://img58.echo.cx/img58/3537/515lt.jpg align=baseline> The one building without lights is due to the fuses going out over the building. A man was reported to have plugged in his dancing santa into a socket when suddenly the lights started blinking and the power went out throughout the building. ******** well there is an update on the city itself. I'll try to get back to the story but im kinda tied up with school and karate on weekdays and driving school on the weekends. But ill get an update on teh story up as soon as i get some spare time.
