Well... I won't lock it just yet, but let's keep the topic here, please... no new threads. I'm just speaking for myself, though.

I'm obviously not the only one noticing the Monte Cristo developers lurking around reading our suggestions and asking our questions. I just want to thank them for listening to our ideas and giving us a sneak peek at the game. It's great to know that a company like Monte Cristo is actually interacting with us, the ultimate city simulation fans. Not the most famous person I've encountered, but Jared from the Subway commercials ate at a restaurant I used to work at years ago... let's just say the greasy fried thing he ate wasn't on the Subway diet.

Is EA's CFO Warren Jensen a Motley Fool? In the article linked above, Jensen talks EA and the gaming industry... it's successes and... uh, failures. "...Of course, Jenson also pointed to some disappointments, like Hellgate London and Sim City Societies..." It's in interesting read and it proves that at least one top dog at EA was unhappy with SCS. The article also criticizes EA for pushing its tried-and-true franchises over new franchises like Spore.

Eh, my real hometown is so small nobody has taken a picture of the darn place. I'll do the next best thing. Here's Scranton, my place of birth... known mainly for its coal mining past, but everyone today knows it as the city The Office is based in.

Congratulations to the Giants for doing the impossible. I'm no Giants fan, but I'm generally happy with the results. All-in-all, the game stunk until the 4th quarter when things got really interesting. The halftime show was good and there were some great ads this year. A good day overall. Maybe next time I suggest the Pats go back to doing what they do best... spying on the opposing team.

These wind turbines are becoming popular in my area, but many people don't like them for a number of reasons... mainly they're not bird-friendly, they can get pretty loud and they're eyesores. Wind power is a good idea for some parts of the world where aesthetics don't really matter and the habitat won't be spoiled, but like everything else, there's always a trade-off.

Moved to the STEX forum. So Loving County, Texas. You're either looking for mesquite or yucca. I don't think the trees in the pic are seen in West Texas. This one pack featuring the yucca plant might be your best option, but search around.

Only 3 big concerts in my life. The last concert was in '06... Death Cab for Cutie, Franz Ferdinand, and the Cribs in NYC, but I skipped out on Franz to hang out in Times Square. America has really had a lot of prosperity over the past 15 years so a recession is no surprise to me. The Middle East conflicts, Venezuela and Nigeria occasionally causing a ruckus, and the American dollar dropping like a stone aren't helping matters, either. Depression talks, however? That's going a bit too far at this point... but the media can't help themselves sometimes.

Just check the OOTP forums... there's quite a following. Your view of baseball is partially correct, but baseball is not all about home runs, you know. Even though the game is more about power than ever, stealing bases and bunting are still a part of baseball and there's so much emphasis on stats in baseball, it's a big part of OOTP.

I see the pitchforks and torches are popular here. I don't own SCS, nor do I intend to... but I'm glad someone enjoys the game and wants a more societal approach to the game. In all honesty, I wouldn't mind it if the next real SimCity had some societal features similar to SCS... but it should be on the realistic side. SCS went to a weird extreme which alienated those who like building and road variety, regional play, and actual realism. Cities in SC5 should be influenced somewhat by the people living in it and the infrastructure, but I'm not sure if EA will gamble with the SimCity franchise again. SCS took away the fun of planning and building the infrastructure by stripping it down, but SC4 and previous versions never put much, if any, emphasis on society. By the way, that is a horrible thread title. We like titles that explain the topic a little.

Moved to Gaming Talk... because it feels right. Personally, I'm pretty much a Will Wright fan through-and-through. I've kind of avoid PC games except for SimCity, The Sims, and the occasional amusement park sim. I'm going to recommend Spore, which should be coming out this year. It's another Will Wright game that's getting a lot of buzz. Besides that, I can't help you out... unless you've got a Wii, then I can help you out.

See, when I think of global warming, I would assume it wouldn't snow in Baghdad ever. This might not debunk the global warming trends, but it sure doesn't help the cause, either.
