City building by money cheat or nature?
Exsun replied to hitomichan1's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I have never used money cheats a few mods here ant there but nothing specific to money. It is a balancing act and you just have to watch how you spend you money on education, health, fire, police, utilities, and the rewards (they suck money quickly in most cases). Your sims do not need as much as you think to be happy. It is very easy to over do it in the name of looking good or doing what you think they need. Your sims will tell you when they need something, and even then they may not need it. Tangent there...I have profitable citys without money cheats and my regin is quickly approaching 800,000 with only a small poriton of the map used. Each city is makign money some a little, some alot. -
I'm still playing with the style aspect. I use to do just grids 9x9, 6x8 for downtowns and industrial areas. For residential it really depended on how I was feeling. Most of the time i would end up wit ha mix of 2x blocks in various lengths. After seeing so many good looking cities with the winding roads I have tried to incorporate them into my region. I have tried just about everything it seems now. My regions really look disjointed as my whim takes me into new cities with a different newly found style. Anyway I usually always end up with Maxis std grids because I get impatient and want the city to grow. It seems everyday I find something new to try. Right now I am trying to bring my little pockets toghether somehow. Either that or start over yet again... t_co: I would like to see some of your work as it sounds interesting how you have things laid out. masochist: I think you have a nice looking city going there. Any chance of seeing some closeups?

How well do you know California?
Exsun replied to Interchange's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
That subway store is in every coastal town up and down the california (almost as bad as Starbucks). It would be safe to say that all the towns also have the same style building in the older part of town so it is really hard to say where it would be short of flat out guessing. More information is needed... Anyway my next dart says that that building is in Pacific Grove. -

Can anyone direct me to a possible solution to the issue shown below? The turn lanes are left handed but I did not select anything for left handed roads/textures. The interesting thing is the turn lanes are functional just in the wrong directional flow of traffic. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, removed the turn lane plug-in but they still show up this way.

Left turn lanes on the wrong side of the road
Exsun replied to Exsun's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Well I feel reall y stupid now. I unloaded all my plugins and reinstalled the NAM and guess what it works fine. On furhter inspection of my plugins folder I found a left turn mod.dat that I did not know I had. It was in a different folder. Cleanitol did not find this and I am not sure how it got into the folder other then an errant click drag on my part. Thank you all for your help. -
Left turn lanes on the wrong side of the road
Exsun replied to Exsun's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I was looking specificly for that as I have seen others with similar issue. I will do it again to make sure but I am certain that I did not install the left hand drive option. -
So have I got an interesting one, at least I think it is. I did a search and did not find anything related so here goes... The picture explains most of it but to narrate, the left turn lanes seem to have been painted with a mirror. The turn lanes are for left sided drivers but all the drivers in my towns drive on the right side. They are functional like this mind you but not working or looking as desired. I have removed NAM and reinstalled without the left handed stuff selected; I have removed the directories and reinstalled; I have removed the turn lanes for roads and replaced it. All with the same result. Any thoughts? Edit: now the picture will show...

I have been playing simcity since cIasic first came out way back when (talk about memories). I liked it at first but after I installed Unlimited things went down hill. It kept crashing on me for no reason. Reinstall after reinstall and still unstable. I ended up back at vanilla sc3K. The parades were annoying for me as well but all-in-all it really was a fun game.

How long does it typically take to get the set if I live in California? I have been waiting almost three weeks and I am very eager to get these. Who should I contact to get more information?

Future of SimCity Official Discussion Thread
Exsun replied to Compromise's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Many good ideas in here. I would like a reginal zoom function and the custom sized citys. I would like to have a way to freeform draw the city boundries. Another idea would be to have growing boundries of some sort. Annex neighboring areas into the city to give it the free form feel. This way you can start out small and go to a bigger map if you want. -
My lurker list: 1 Adding Sub-menus or more top level menus is my biggest want; basically an overhaul of the menu system. 2 Zooming on the regional level would be really nice! Good idea though probability is low being a regional item. 3 One thing that I really miss from the original SimCity is the ability to print a city (or region). I know that taking pictures could make this happen but if there is a way to do it natively I think it would be nice. 4 Improvements on path finding 5 Data views broken down by subtype of building as Keiran Halcyon mentioned above 6 Fix the known issues/bugs that we have information on (I have not really experienced any other then the Opera House bug).
