  1. Fresh install: French?

Ok, managed to get this fixed. For others who might have the same issue: Found this post which helped me: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1647474 Using the exact code that's posted there didn't work (I don't think it liked the "Arial" font specified), but when I used "Arial Unicode MS" instead it worked perfectly. This is what was in there anyway. The top of my globalsettings.cfg file now looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?> <StartingState>SPACEVIEW</StartingState> <StartingScreen>S_INTROVIDEO</StartingScreen> <Localization_CSMS> <Language>en</Language> <AsianFonts>1</AsianFonts> <FontHead>Comic Sans MS</FontHead> <FontBody>Comic Sans MS</FontBody> <FontAux>Comic Sans MS</FontAux> <FontDecor>Comic Sans MS</FontDecor> <FontLib>gfxfontlib_en.gfx</FontLib> </Localization_CSMS> <Localization> <Language>en</Language> <AsianFonts>1</AsianFonts> <FontHead>Arial Unicode MS</FontHead> <FontBody>Arial Unicode MS</FontBody> <FontAux>Arial Unicode MS</FontAux> <FontDecor>Arial Unicode MS</FontDecor> <FontLib>gfxfontlib_en.gfx</FontLib> </Localization> <Localization_JAP> <Language>jp</Language> <AsianFonts>1</AsianFonts> <FontHead>Arial Unicode MS</FontHead> <FontBody>Arial Unicode MS</FontBody> <FontAux>Arial Unicode MS</FontAux> <FontDecor>Arial Unicode MS</FontDecor> <FontLib>gfxfontlib_en.gfx</FontLib> </Localization_JAP> The only change that I actually had to make was to change fr to en in the <Language><Localization> tag. I also got a response from support@focus-home.com to say I should update the desktop shortcut as follows for English: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Focus Home Interactive\Cities XL Platinum\CitiesXL_Platinum. exe" LOCALIZATION/LANGUAGE=en I didn't actually try that as I had already resolved it by then, but I'm sure that would work too.
  2. Hi all I just decided (partly because I'm just so pissed of with EA over what they've done to SimCity) to buy CitiesXL for the first time. I went straight to the CitiesXL site, bought CitiesXL Platinum for $29.99, downloaded and installed. Great. Except, when I start the game everything's in French and I don't know much French. I'm not sure why I got the French game. I'm in South Africa (not a French-speaking country), I bought and downloaded from the English site, all my laptop settings are English. Did I miss an install option to select language? Anyway, would love to know if there is any way I can convert to English. I've gone through the in game menus using my very limited understanding of French, but haven't been able to find any language setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Anton
