I admit, it's been a while, but now i have some brand new pictures. I hope i don't disappoint the rural lovers among you because the following pictures are from a skysraper-built-up-area called Zweibr

Thanks again for all your inspiring comments, i was very busy the last days with my two cities. But not only for building, i terraformed a lot for roads&rail. Since i've got two real neighbours now, it is very importand for Minthal to become a part of the over 4 million sims region. With this, the small town lost a little of his rural character. I needed to get more sims in my towns to have money for highways and neighbour connections. So i decided to found a new town on the Minthal-Map. Its called Haching and has the first high density zones on this map. With all the new infrastructure, the north corner of the region looks like this: The blue numbers indicate (ground level) highways (german Autobahn) and the yellow ones are our Bundesstra

Minthal's back - i have a few new pics from the city. It is not much because i didn't have much time the last days. I know some of you wanted to see a region pic, but at least i have an overview of my towns (yes, I've got a second one) and the surrounding maps: The upcoming town of Zweibr
-
@T Wrecks: Nobody forces you to look twice at the pictures. You should now whats in the Thread if you read the CJ's name. But it's nice to know that you took a second look although you know what will expect you. Or maybe you'd like to laugh at my translations... @MrVegetable: I think the screenshot with the railway is one of my faves too. In my hometown, there's also a railway line between a river and a steep hillside with only one street going parallel to that railway line. It looks very realistic if i compare that part of the town with my screenshot. @Slowhand: I could upload some region shots, but i don't think you would like them because it's a patchwork of different water textures and totaly different citys. The map is built up by actually over ten players and everybody performs a different style of city developement. But if you still want a look, i can upload it soon. @the others : thanks for your positive replys, that makes it even more worth to go on with my town

Thanks for your comments so far, i will now show some pics from Minthal but first i want to reply your comments. @Nardo: I try to make my city to look very european. Thats rather difficult in SC because of the limited directions for the roads. I think American citys are more grid like which is easier to build. I know, sorry again for the german descriptions, but it would be strange to add english text in my pics at a germen mp contest @Vitruvius: Yes i think it could also be in England. It should look like the villages (suburbs) surrounding my hometown in west germany. I think it's normal that you build like something you knew the look before. @SamFlash: No problem but don't forget to show the pics, i'd like to see some other rural areas. In fact, i stole some ideas two is saw in screenshots from the game. @jasperdeman.nl: Well, since my hometown is near Luxemburg, it would be more accurate to say Southnachbar @Shadow_Assassin: There is already a new map planned uniting the bus lines vom Ruppertsberg and Minthal @NightlinerSGS: I think it's all about experience. The more often you build citys, it will become better with every new one. I work rather long on planning and zoning and i always try to make things a little bit nicer, even in already build-up areas. It is nothing you can build in 30 minutes. But now, some close-up pics from Minthal (even with english text now ) ^^ Community gardens at the railway line in Minthal-Nordstadt ^^ Tenements in the city's center ^^ hm... that's impossible for me to translate ^^ Freight Train Station of Minthal, at the background the ghetto at the Mannheim Street ^^ High School of Minthal with soccer field ^^ recreational area north of the town center ^^ new infrastructure concepts at the border of the new industrial park (which will be build soon)

Hi everyone! Since I'm spending so much time for the german Simzone multiplayer region, i decided to present it as a CJ here. Although the whole region has nearly two million inhabitants in one week, i planned to build a realistic city. Here is a picture of the region, my city has the number 11 and is nicely located in a wide valley in the northwestern mountains. This region is an accurate skaled map from Lissabon, the capital of Portugal, which is offered here at ST. I first started with a small town where about 5,000 sims found a new home for living. I hope you don't mind the german descriptions in the pictures, if you have questions, just ask. Here is a overview at the first city i build called Mintahl-Ruppertsberg: Here are now some close-up views from the little town: As you can see, i tried to give the town a strong rural outfit with all the farms surrounding the small houses. I especially like the embankmets/walls, it makes cascading so simply and good looking. The street names are a mix of fantasy names and real names. I needed to name the streets to make a fictional bus plan which you can see here Because of a little room i had left between the city and the gentle hills, i terraformed the landscape for two new suburbs. You can see the developement in the following pictures: The last picture is the forest walkway between the suburbs Weilerbach and Weidengraben With all new Sims moving to Ruppertsberg, traffic between the town an the industrial zone nearby increased so the major decided to upgrade the 2 lane road to a 4 lane wide one. Also, the railway crossing was replaced with an tunnel under the new avenue. Here is a picture where you can see the difference before and after: So, that's all for the first start. I will upload some new pics tomorrow (i think it will be thursday morning in the US timezone) from the main town Minthal. So the last pic is a teaser from the actual build-up area with names of the towns and suburbs: Tomorrow you will get to see some close-ups...

So, it is time for some updates First, something about the region: since i decided i can't come up with enough english names for citys, roads and so on, i divided the map in an english spoken region and several german spoken regions. Yes it sounds silly, but this is a fictional region, so why can't there be a border between two states in this area: The Ojay Bay Region is the english part, including the three bigger citys Ojay Bay/New Ojay Bay, Anchorage and Thurso and several small ones like Kwickton and some upcoming ones. The next project will be the area in the southeast called Bronsfeld Region. Bronsfeld will be the biggest city situated on the big island in the center of the Region. So much with the announcements, now something for the eye, 2 pictures of Anchorage: This one shows one of the channels leading to the River with mixed zones around the Canal Street and Highway Avenue Here we can see the Downtown, still under developement because of the only 200,000 inhabitants in the whole region. Residential hi-rise buildings seem to grow more easily then commercial ones as you can see... Now, for something new, a closer look to the northeast, where Thurso has been founded. Since it should have industrial and residential regions not next to each other, i designed a simple plan where what will be situated where in the future: The town of Thurso will be located in the flat aera between the mountain ranges an should give about 30,000 to 50,000 people a place to live. The area in the river valley will be mostly build up with industrial parks surrounded with trees, leaving space for some small villages like Goberfield, located between the Ojay Bay River and the A1, which connects the upcoming city of Thurso with Ojay Bay...

Thank you... Anchorage has now more than 120,000 inhabitants, but i haven't uploaded new pictures yet. But i worked on the map and now i have also a road map. It is not complete yet, but i'm working on it. (Click here for the whole picture) It was a lot of work but now i can simply add and remove roads, city names etc. And what's more important, i can easily add new lines when new citys in the region are founded.

I did some experiments with Paint Shop Pro to design a railway/elevated rail line plan... it looks like this: Some short translations: thick lines = railway thin lines = elevated/underground yellow circle = railway station white circle = elevated rail station blue circle = underground green zones = areas with busstops I think with the layer function i can copy screenshots of further citys i'll build in the future into the lowest layer and expand the plan. Anchorage will be hard because of the many underground stations. Few month ago i also designed a bus line plan for a very rural city but i think that would be impossible for a whole Region.

@Nik-nik: Yes, i think now it is really a CJ, but i can't change the topic myself, i think. I often build cemiteries next to hospitals because i try to sourround the building with some kind of park areas and the cemitery looks so nicely green The walls are from simzone.de , BATed from a member of the german forum where i'm active. But i can't tell you where the busstops are from, i think ST, just try and search for bus or something. I like them because there are two versions, one rural with trees for low density regions and one for the urban areas. If you don't find them i can upload them for you, they aren't very big.

Thanks GMT - I just downloaded the airport set and since i have no earlier plugins (i'm not really a fan of airports, so i used the standart ones) it worked. But now with one plugin, the airport menu is as full as the park menu. Would be great if there was a plugin that allowes you to make custom menus and let you sort your park/lake/trail/etc... lots the way you like it The download link for the terrain mod on the page you gave me doesent't work, sorry. Well, i don't really know which one is the best for me. Now i have the standart version with one of PEGs Rock Mods (i think the granite one). Since i haven't been in Alaska yet, i don't knwo how the shores and mountains look there, but i think it would be good to get rid of the sandy coastlines. Don't worry, i won't stop, perhaps to study a little bit for the last exam this semester, which is tuesday. But then i have five weeks till i have to do something again I like the region too, it is not boring because of the hills, but the valleys are very flat, so ist the best way to build lakes, canals and walls without annoying steps within. And because of the hilly areas, you have to force your city to stretch in severals directions, which allows to create very realistic towns in narrow river valleys, perhaps a little bit like my hometown...

@T Wrecks: Die Simszone war down, daher hab ich hier gepostet Nach 6 Stunden Arbeit _muss_ man einfach irgendwo uploaden...
-
Thanks for you comments... but you don't have to answer in both languages, i completely understand your postings in english (I hope you understand mine too, although my grammar isn't perfect). @GMT: If you say I could make things better, don't mind to tell what But since this is a CJ, I have some new pictures - not from Ojay Bay this time, but from the complete region and a new town called Anchorage (I knwo there is one called like this in Alaska but i don't know if i spelled it correctly) The Region: You can see that the small Downtown of New Ojay Bay is now connected to Anchorage which is with about 80,000 inhabtants the biggest town. Further north, there is the small town of Kwickton, a litte village in the mountains with 5,000 people living there. Since Anchorage is free of industrial areas (and should be in the future), Thurso will be the industrial city in this area. Anchorage imports all power und exports all garbage from/to there. A closeup of the traffic view: The A1 is the main Autobahn whicht connects Thurso in the northeast via Ojay Bay with future citys in the West, the A2 will connect Anchorage with upcoming citys in the southeast. But now some pictures of Anchorage: This is the town from above, north beeing on the left side. Residential and commercial zones are mostly of medium and high density, only at the hillside in the east there a few low density residential zones. Here a closer look at the downtown: Anchorage is a very flat area, so i've decided to build those nice channels to leed the groundwater to the river/ocean. The building in the upper left corner is the university of applied sience in cologne. I wanted to have a diffrent kind of university in Anchorage because of the standart university in New Ojay Bay. Last but not least, two pictures of residential areas which i've cascaded with the concrete walls i found here on ST: I think the highway tunnel entrance looks very good here so long...

Thanks... yes it's nearly the only city, there is another small one in the north but only 5000 inhabitants. But what do you mean with cj? EDIT: Ok.. i checked it I ment that this isn't a city journal but only a few pics from a nearly finished city
-
Hi ererybody! First, I wanted to upload these pictures on a german forum but since i can't connect to the webpage, i wonder what comments my city will get here. I think I can't compete with many awesome journals in this forum but i'll hope you enjoy my pics. I have no screenshot of the region yet, but i downloaded it here, iirc the description was something of a river delta in alaska. But it is rather green since i only use the lower arctic terrain mod which leaves the lower areas green. My City is called Ojay Bay, don't ask me how i came up with this name The first five pictures are to wide to post so i linked them here: [01] [02] [03] [04] [05] As you can see, the town is very small and uneducated, there are many low income residential blocks in the downtown, but near the coast, some richer people have already settled down. After many hours of playing (instead of learning for exams ) Ojay Bay had grown and looks like this: For those who are interested (and do know few german words) i made another two pics, one showing the diffrent zones of the city and one showing the infrastructure as highways (or autobahn) and several other streets (yellow: Bundestra
