I've recently started working on one of LA's major icons and i hope i can work on and finish most of LA's major skyscrapers... i thought the Library Tower would be the best place to start because it looks the hardest... this building has been done before by Rickk and he has also been working, as far as i know, on the Aon, also in LA. i would appreciate any comments on this project i am currently attempting and also i will update with pics of my work and the actual monuments they replicate. i've worked for about 3 hours and here's what i have:

so far ok... i've been workning a little less on it lately... almost midterms already... my quarter is already one third of the way over!! another 8 weeks and Christmas break will be here... does anyone know where i can grab textures from that are used in the simcity game already?

thanks it's taking me a while though... i know too many people were giving you a hard time about completion time... this building is harder to BAT than most because of all the odd angles and shapes. i did as much as i could over the break (ha, one week). now i'm back in school and am limited to weekends... it'll get done. either just in time for thanksgiving or for Christmas. a perfct gift for those who will spend their holiday playing SC4 all day and night 'til they go back to school (you know who you are)

haha... yeah, it's actually the first thing on my list of things to do after my morning habits. right now, it's all roof is what i'm concentrating on. well, i might finish up on my windows before i get too detailed with other things. either way, you'll get what you want you slaves of STEX ... well,... don't know what that was about, but here we go... i'll update with more pics soon. tell me more of what you guys think

the orange circle is just sort of a reference as to what size lot i would need. it will be taken out later. it's a flat cylynder that i was going to use to morph into the lobby's cement arch thingy above the lobby doors and windows, but for right now it sits exactly underneath the building. perfect? wow... i guess i see more flaws because i built it cool thing is i've done more work from here and i just figured out window transparency. this thing will be awesome when completed. i need to do some separation on some parts and i will put in simple stuff like shades and roof junk. i really need more lobby pics though... i really need help where the tower meets the top of the steps. i'm mostly looking at windows on the left and right sides of this thing. thanks for the support

sorry, it still won't work... i was able to get a cool render view of what it might look like in-game don't worry it's not going in like this... it looks short to me (probably because i'm not finished with the lobby). it's still missing the antenna on the roof, the blue corners, the crane, it's tracks (i can finish that today). i really wanted to get this thing onto the lot editor to see what size lot i need. if it needs a larger lot than 4x4, i think i will make two lot versions: one with just the tower and lobby (no steps) and the real version. or i might just stretch this thing to make it taller. tell me what you guys think of this stuff. don't worry, i haven't forgotten about this Vehicle Strength & Off-road speed modifier.zip

T Wrecks, when i export the file, what pugins folder do i place it in? i've tried a few, but none of them turn up in the Plug-In Manager. anyone can answer this, i would definately appreciate it

YES!! FINALLY, i got done with my last final today... now i can do more work i'll get to work on this thing now btw, cal 3 plaza was canceled and is replaced by park fifth. check out that link that i posted before if interested

sorry for the delay. i worked through the weekend on finals... AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! i'm going insane with exams and projects!! on top of that i got sick the second time in two weeks (yeah yeah, excuses excuses). i'm gonna work on it tomorrow. i'll have time for it. i wanta get the building into the game like you guys said just to see how the building looks in proportion and all that. i got the tower nearing completion. i just need to do the roof and windows. then the base and i'm done... really sorry about my timing on this thing. my college runs on a quarterly system so i take midterms 4 times a year and finals 4 times as well. each quarter is 11 weeks. YAAY!!! next week is my last week before break. i'm gonna work on that thing every day of the break and hopefully complete it by the time it's over in a week.

that's it?! i got it but never use it. thanks!! enjoy your last year of high school man. last chance to be a kid before you grow up into a real young adult, unless you're italian then it's another 18 years, lol jk.

thanks to everyone for the support great pics by-the-way. ha, the bank tower looks a bit sneeky in that second one ^ hey, does anyone know how to put this thing on a lot and test it out in-game? complicated question, but i want to see how it renders in SC4. i'll post some pics up maybe tomorrow. i think i got all the window frames done on the tower. still gotta do the base and helipad. glass will be put too. i'll work as hard as i can without messin up in school. sorry it's taking this long, but school break is in 2 to 3 weeks. pace will really pick up then. again, thanks for the comments, support, and research everybody

yeah... don't need the big files, these will do. i meant you should have the originals for yourself. that first one of library tower was helpful indeed. L.A.Live is pretty huge. its like times square in new york except way bigger. also comparable to the ginza district in tokyo. los angeles is really in a project boom right now... the length of downtown is expected to double within 5 years and become more dense too (bye bye surface parking lots)!! lots of great projects to be BATed when they are completed. of course, as people say, SimCity 5 will be out by then. you know that game should have a west coast style along with the houston/chicago/new york/euro styles. and of course, more landmarks (way more). gettin kinda dissapointed with the ones the game already comes with. i thought the us bank would be in there for los angeles. but it just had the hollywood sign and capital records (great landmarks, just need more of them). well, better get back to the project...

ha... it doesn't look like boneventure would be difficult at first. everyone else is looking at the glass... i'm looking at the visible concrete and elevators. lots of plane change, angled edges, and necessary vertices. wow... you really need to see L.A. Live don'tcha JDRCRASH? check this one out for ya: this is the most recent i've seen at the middle/bottom of the page. check out the first page for all new developments in l.a. http://skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=147965&page=33&pp=20 don't worry. i'll remember the restaurant. actually, when rickk made the tower, the restaurant didn't exist there in real life. in fact it showed up shortly after rickk finished us bank. really like 611 place now... it looks way cooler the way you took it JWUT. i remember seeing the wells fargo towers at first. i thought they looked ugly before, but they look great up close. overall, the skyline looks great because of the mix of buildings there. library tower makes a great tallest among the cluster i hope you kept the original sized photos and these are just resized copies. even on here they look good with detail. you probably got a 8.0 megapixel, 12x optical zoom camera right? well, that's what i got anyway. helps out in college big time. thanks for lettin people use your private photos JWUT . really helpful

sweet pic!! i haven't seen pics of the tower from hope street. yeah, post the ones you like, but careful: there is a size limit. probably wanna do what i do (upload em using the advanced reply). there should be a button called attachments that allows you to browse for pics on your computer.

never too late... never too far either. i spent every weekend in downtown myself and i used to live in moreno valley!! btw, arco did change to bank of america, but i think it's about to change again (i saw them take down the logo again just last weekend). and i too would like to see someone BAT those landmarks. I'm surprised City Hall and Bonaventure didn't come out with the SC4 game!! anyway, some long awaited pics... i'm redoing the front/bottom and the roof. i will start on the base too. the glass will be very easy. here you go:

wow... gotta build a whole region like that instead of the slow way. monorail is like maglev. maglev is a bullet train on magnets that flies 300 mph (no exageration). china has it. man... gotta post some pics this weekend before this forum turns into L.A.'s development discussion, lol.

that would be nice... while we're on the subject, SC5 should have more landmarks from all over anyway. especially L.A. also, i would like to be able to play a region including oxnard, moreno valley, san clemente, and catalina island (whoa). transit should be broader too like freeways with 12 total lanes and light rail, subway, and elevated rail that works together. would also be nice to decide what route the busses go. the new stuff that works today like maglev should also be put in there.

i was thinking either aon, both cal plazas, 777 tower, or both wells fargo towers. i was thinking westin boneventure but it also has a lot of angles, especially around the elevators. it would be cool to have in SC4 though. maybe i'll do it after my next tower. a lot of the new proposed towers that los angeles is getting look really cool, but there is also a small chance some of them won't get built. that's mostly why i won't take those on. also if i BAT it before it gets built in real life, the actual building design could change. the library tower went through a lot of small changes during its construction apart from the blue prints. LA LIVE has already changed 2 or 3 times since they broke ground in september 05. when these projects are done, i would love to BAT them.

sorry, i haven't been at it since sunday. i can't work on it this weekend either. the one thing i hate about a quarter system in college is the midterms and finals are only 5 to 6 weeks apart. and it starts over right after. i can get to it next weekend for sure, my workload will be cut down significantly (thank God). so far i just need to work on the base and the roof. i'm more worried about the roof because of that crane up there. the base is just simple large planes (ha, i say that now). i'll upload picks next week. sorry if it seems like i'm ignoring this, but it is a private project as opposed to work/college related. hang in there guys

well i am taking a while longer than i thought on this thing (people will lose interest until this thing comes out). i will still need help on this in the future though (texturing and stuff). for me the time is flying by fast. school does that i guess. i just got done with midterms one week ago and finals are due by the end of the 3rd week in september (what is that... 4 to 5 weeks from now). i messed up on this thing one day last weekend: the top cross section is supposed to be 3 perfect circles and i had 1 circle and 2 ovals. horrible!! so i started over and the funny thing is i already caught up in about 4 hours! lucky me. since i already knew how i was going to structure it, building it went by faster. probably will post pics tomorrow. i would normally be at my pc today, but i stayed at my apartment an extra day to get my primary work done.
