Developer: Gaijin Entertainment Publisher: Gaijin Entertainment Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 4 Genres: Action, Combat flight simulator Modes: Single-player, Multiplayer Link to download the game client (This is an invitation, registering through this link will grant you 50 bonus Golden Eagles) War Thunder is a free-to-play MMO, where money only grant you a faster planes and upgrades research and other lesser additions which are solely visual (which means this is not a pay-to-win game). Gaijin project is pretty ambitious: to create an MMO that encompasses air, earth and water units. At the moment you can only pilot planes, while the ground part, which lets you drive tanks, is in closed-beta status. In the future Gaijin will implement ships too. They're also planning to introduce new game modes like the World War and other things. I've created an account and downloaded the client (6 gigabytes) and I must say the game is very good. The developers are the ones who created IL-2 Sturmovik (for those of you who know it), which is a guarantee of success. In case you were interested, it is possible to pilot the planes using the mouse. I've tried both the mouse and the joystick and both are good depending on which game mode you're playing (the are three: Arcade, Realistic and Simulator). The latter two require a joystick to be used for best results, while the former will give you the most joy using a mouse. Waiting times to find a match are below the minute in Arcade mode, a couple of minutes for Realistic mode and below 10 minutes in Simulator mode. On a side note, at the moment there are around 350 different planes, but developers aim to introduce something like 5000 different models, which is the number of airplanes who crossed the skies in the timespan that went from the Second World Conflict to the Korea war.

SimCity Refunds offered for launch Issues
DMFan replied to Hellken's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Why? Please, explain me why you people keep defending companies like EA. I really see no point in doing that. Life doesn't work this way. If you do something wrong and it's your fault, you get the blame. It's as simple as this. EA only cares about money and the result of this behaviour is in front of your eyes. I'm really happy things went so badly (and they're only going to get worse as soon as Europe starts playing the game) because this is the only way to make you people understand you need to stop paying for broken and rushed games. Open your eyes. They built a game around DRM and constant internet connection at the price of gameplay and quality. They put limits (I can only built so many cities... WHAT?!?) that made this game a parody of what a SimCity game should be. Remember when City XL came out? The first one I mean. They wanted to make an MMO out of it. Remember how it ended? You are fueling this market with your money. They feed on your tears. It's time to stop it. Don't you think? -
We're talking about software, not bicycles... apples and oranges. This new philosophy is a cancer. Pure and simple. I'm afraid of people who can't see how much this is going to destroy videogames.

I will consider buying the game IF they heavily increase map size and IF they change the way regions work. Also, I'm waiting to see what they're going to do with DLCs. As soon as I start seeing stupid DLCs with a few buildings and such I'm going to put the game on stand-by until a GOTY comes out. I've already written what I think about the game market nowadays, I'm hoping the game will sell a lot less copies they predicted. This is the only way to make them understand they must ask players' opinion about the most important parts of the game before making decisions about them.

New Video: "SimCity Shows Off Three Major Landmarks"
DMFan replied to ItsShane's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
This. Also, the cars that were sold a decade ago had no optionals and you had to pay a lot to get, for example, air-conditioning. Now these things are taken for granted when you buy a car. The computer game market has gone in the opposite direction. They strip games down to their bones and then sell the product at full price. After that they start selling DLCs with things that should have been in the game from the beginning. Do you want to know what I did when I saw this new trend? I stopped buying games at day one. Now I only buy GOTY editions or special sales on Steam (which contain all DLCs and expansions). You reap what you sow.- 47 Replies

I'd like to thank Catchin22 for his review. I've played the beta too and found the same flaws he has. A month from release this game isn't going to change and I don't like what I see. Unfortunately it's a huge disappointment for me. The idea of modular building is good, but they can't expect to sacrifice an entire game for that. Also, I'm sick of software houses making game for the masses. Simcity is not a game for everyone, they already gave them Societies which is a parody of a city building... I'm still playing SC4 and I really can't understand how these two games could possibly relate to each other. This "new chapter" is so much different, so much watered down it's silly to even think it could take the place of its predecessor... I still remember the excitement I felt playing the first Simcity on a friend's Amiga 500. I was so in love with the game I used to draw city maps during school... after so many years we've come to this... it's so sad. Gaming market has changed too radically and not for the best. I did. Canceled my pre-order a few minutes ago. They won't see my money. I really hope many other will do the same, since this is the only way to send a clear message.
