New Sim Nation Region: Roarin' Twenties!

How'd you manage to do what I was going for? Themed play. -
Hello Simtropolis! I like playing with people. We had a group going but it wasn't working as intended due to our members being from different time zones. So i'd like to try this again, only this time there will be certain criteria you'd have to meet. So it's never anything personal, I just want to get the best playing experience for the ones who join me. For the group, I would like for it to be no more than 5 people. No less than 4. So 4 to 5 people. That being said, I don;t want to start a region until we have at least 4 people. Second, we must all be plus or minus two time zones of GMT -7. so, GMT -9 through GMT -5. Third, we must set certain days and times of the week that we can all play and communicate. We will be able to come in and play on our own time but it shouldn't be too much time, I want this to be a multiplayer based region. This also gives an opportunity for us to play other regions with other people when we're not playing our current region. Generally I would like to play during weekend evenings, which is when im most available. So anyone willing to join me must at least be able to play weekends. As far as goals and the aim or accomplishments the region is going for as a whole, I think it would be a fun idea experiment with this. One of the people in the group would be elected or chosen by a rotation-based method to be the group leader, the group leader would generally decide (with input and ideas from the rest of the group) what they are trying to accomplish. Each time the group starts a new region, the Group Leader will change. (Haven't put too much thought into this, but I think it would give us a chance to experiment on leading a group of mayors to actually accomplish something in the game, or aim for goals instead of just... building a city and moving on to the next). Lastly. There has to be a good way of communication when we do play all at once. I have been using skype on my phone. I think this would be a good option for us all to have skype. But im open for other suggestions. Recap: 4 to 5 people. Time Zones GMT -9 through -5 Specified dates and times of "GROUP" play (to be discussed, for now lets just say Fri and Sat). Communication method to be established. As far as types of players, I don't care about your experience level. I would even say i'm not that great at this game. But as long as you log on at the specified date and time and be active during those times, I think we can have a very communicative region (not all the time, but during the time that we agree on). Im the type of mayor that likes building tourists cities. It's what I like, I do not like the whole megatower thing. If thats your thing, great, But I do want to try to avoid having 8 other cities around me that all they have is megatowers. So I dont mind if you like megatowers, but I'd like to see a variety of mayor types in the region. Sorry if it's a bit "picky". But if we can pull this off and manage to get good people to play with, it will be a very fun group of people to play with. These are some pictures of the last city I was working on.

What is an acceptable crime rate?
suigeneris0101 replied to suigeneris0101's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Since you're making a guideline, the grammar Nazi in me is telling me to give some suggestions: First of all "All mayors must maintain criminal activity" is frankly wrong. To "maintain" means to sustain, and hence it means you want criminal activity to continue. Instead, you should state it this way: "All mayors must control criminal activity" "All mayors must limit criminal activity" Second, you don't "raise" a police force, rather you should maintain an adequate police force. Yeah, I had fixed those already. This was a quick rough draft in an attempt to find an answer. I'll go look somewhere else. -
2 greats projects in one region?

Don't apologize for your english. English is a tough language and though it is bit tough to understand, it's actually not that bad. I was reading on DLC when I came upon this. apparently this was a feature included in the game for anyone who Pre-Ordered Simcity with Cities of Tomorrow. It's called a Launch Arcology. I have never seen it, and I don't think it's available in Origin. From the looks of it you can plop this thing in the middle of your city! http://simcity.wikia.com/wiki/Arcologies -
What is an acceptable crime rate?
suigeneris0101 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Hello simtropolis! We have a problem in one of our group's region. Crime rate. It affects not only your city, but all cities with connections to it. One of our Region Leaders wanted this problem fixed, and wanted to add a rule to our group where it would require mayors to build more jail cells. The problem with having this as a rule is that it would force a mayor to build something in their city just because it is required, but we shouldn't require someone to just build more jail cells, or expand police force. Instead we wanted to create a guideline. A guideline (in our group at least) would be something that you are expected to follow, but wouldn't get punished if broken less than 3 times. So here is what I have so far for this guideline. "Crime in your city doesn't only affect your city. All mayors must maintain criminal activity. There are many ways of doing this. One is the most obvious, building more jail space and raising police force. More long term solutions include educating your sims and providing enough health care, decreasing pollution and increasing jobs. All of this can help by not giving your sims motives to make criminal acts. As a standard, all mayors must maintain a city's crime rate to less than ___ crimes per day." But what would be considered an acceptable crime rate where it wouldn't affect too much the neighboring cities? Our group's mission statement is "To provide a communicative, friendly, and fun multiplayer environment for our Mayors while avoiding abandoned or inactive cities." this crime thing is really hurting the Fun part of our mission, and we need to ensure our mayors have a fun experience. -
Looking to start a new region or join an existing
suigeneris0101 replied to cmdlet's topic in SimCity (2013) Region Games
We're always looking to get new people. We started with 2 people and more people have joined us. We have expanded to become a small group. Since we're getting crowded in our current region we're electing a second Region Leader to start another region with some of the mayors in our group. Once we split we will need more mayors to fill that region. Check out our topic if you'd like. We have very lenient rules that help with avoiding having people with abandoned or inactive cities. If you read it you'll understand what I mean. -

You guys could do the votes all at once in one single skype chat (or something else like a room in the Simtropolis chat since he doesn't have skype) to get it over with We discuss about a mayor-select separately without the mayor-select in a group chat. We use a voting system (decing.com). We do anonymous voting so our mayors won't be bribed by other mayor's comments about the mayor select. We might remove this whole voting for mayors. We're only looking to get to know you a little more. The you know about a person the more you know you can or cannot expect them to be active in the region. Our group has only started a week ago. So I do apologize if we've taken too long to attend to you. We're still working out a few things. I'll talk you all who've accepted my contact request on skype tomorrow at GMT -7 5pm. -

Ok. It'd be preferable to use Skype, we all use it to communicate. But if you don't we can find another way to communicate. I just don't like using the origin chat. -

Deleting a topic

Hi Cyclone! Thank you for responding. I logged in from my iPad instead of my computer to check on this post. I noticed that, from my iPad there was no full editor button like there was on my laptop. Maybe its a device thing? It took to straight to the full editor where I was able to edit the title. Thank you! -
Hello Simtropolis. I have a question about going about deleting a forum topic I created. I've used the search bar and nothing came up. Maybe theres somewhere I haven't checked. In one of my topics, under the SimCity 2013 Regions, I posted a topic titled "Starting Active Private Region". I've heavily edited the topic context over some time as we got new players to join us in our region, and we are now slowly moving into expanding and becoming a Game Group. I feel the topic title and what it contains are no longer relevant, and will be less relevant as time goes on. This is one of the guidelines listed above the forums. I want to start a new topic, with a more relevant title, but, currently, with the same edited context. Another forum guideline, however, is avoiding spamming or reposting the same material. I don't want to break any guidelines. I have not seen an option to delete my topic so I can start fresh and avoid any breaches. Am I missing the Delete option? Or should I go ahead with posting a new topic? I don't think I can edit the Topic Title either. Thank you advance!

Hi. Thanks for replying. We still have tons of room left. Of course per the rules all current mayors must vote upon new entering mayors. 70% of the mayors vote must approve. Overall, we are just looking for communicative, friendly, and fun playing experience, if we see youre a fit for those three things you're most likely in. Give me a second and ill talk to you on origin. -

Hi HuuiiBuuh, don't worry, your'e age is definitley not a factor. As long as we see the qualities you have and they match towards our goals, which are to have a region where no one abandons their cities or are inactive. The type of city you prefer to build on our region is completely up to you. We look for communicative and active players, and thats all we really ask for, this of course leads to some rules that we all follow for protective measures, such as no mods installed while playing in our region, or notifying us of what DLC you have installed. I haven't been on because I have no internet at the time. Contact the current mayors on origin. jrobnett12 and MegaTankv2. Do you have any screenshots of your cities that we can see?
