Ok so I did a full reinstall of windows 11. This worked. I can now run the game with the resolution I want and seems like everything is working ok! So I assume there was some program etc, interfering with the game. Many thanks rsc204 for your time!

Tried what you suggested. (removed dgvoodoo2) also tried with Software rendering full screen + windowed. No help. Also did that clean boot thing again via msconfig. As I've been googling this, I concur that this should work with my setup. As I have not as well seen similar problems to mine with this kind of setup. So I only think something.. somewhere.. is interfering with this. I find it bit interesting as well that it takes the game quite few seconds before the screen turns black and starts(?) the game. ~15seconds,... or perhaps this is just a feature of the game. Here's the log file: (without dgvoodoo) Again, I appreciate your help on this. I will keep trying!

Ok so, I ditched the Steam version and have been trying to GOG version now only. Tried it without anything else installed. (SC4 launcher, dgvoodoo) Only with the command line stuff. Also tried booting to safe mode in Windows, did not help. Software rendering yielded the same results. (That time, no black loading screen, resolution just changes and it tries to do something). Now I've got the dgvoodoo thing installed and its the same. My command line options are: "C:\GOG Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -Intro:Off -Audio:Off -CustomResolution:enabled -r:1920x1080x32 -f -CPUCount:1 Tried with windowed mode as well (-w). Attached is a screenshot just after launch before it closes. I really would not like to quit on this. Is there anything else I could still try? Or should I go and find some ancient hardware somewhere and build me an old SC4 PC ? Again, many thanks edit: (also tried turning of all protection features in my AV, windows defender)

Thanks for your reply! The game starts, black screen appears and the cursor tells me its trying to load something. Then it drops back to desktop. Intro turned off in the SC4 launcher. I did uninstall the other SC4 installation before trying the other one. I shall keep experimenting with the command line options without the SC4 launcher. + with dgvoodoo. Thanks again.

Hey all, I'm running Windows 11 with NVIDIA 2070 RTX. I have purchased the game via Steam and also bought the GOG version as I thought the steam version had some issues. Both versions wont start. It seems like its loading but then it closes and goes back to the desktop. What I tried: Installed the 4GB patch. Installed SC4 launcher. Disabled NVIDIA and Steam Overlay. Tried running in different Windows compatibility modes. Tried a clean boot. With SC4 launcher I tried using different resolutions, render modes and forced 1 CPU with HIGH priority. Even tried with Audio off. As these didn't work, I also tried editing Graphic_Rules.sgr and Video_Cards.sgr as per these instructions: https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/33931-how-to-configure-sc4-to-work-with-your-new-hardware/ After those tries, my last effort was to try dgVoodoo. It also failed. (I enabled the watermark and can see it when the game tries to load). I am at my wits end.. Is there anything else you could suggest me trying? Many thanks!
