Residential expansion Commercial expansion Commercial expansion - zoom Residential expansion zoned Residential expansion developed - zoom Overview. Thats all for now, hopefully i will get more comments this time before my next update *wink *wink... *nudge.. *nudge. My next update should be focusing on the Industrial sector. and will also include the construction of one of my sunken highway underwater tunnels Smirkazor. p.s. I believe all returning or new cj's should get mentioned on the website homepage, to give it some advertisement.

Alright then, time for an update, i spent most of the morning before work finishing off the sunken highway circuit and extending the commercial area and a new residential development. The compilation of pictures i have for this update will yet again show my development process . First of all i need to finish off the sunken highway circuit to get a good idea what space i have available, the highways for me are basically the backbone of my region in the denser areas. I also decided to build an extension to the already existing rail line to give extra transportation options to the future residents. Here is where i will be construction my sunken highway, to start with i need to create a dip for the highway using this godsend of a tool. Here is what it looks like. Now to start moulding the area's i want to develop with roads, zones and connection to the highway circuit. The commercial extension is first Then the residential. Now that thats out the way, time to turn on the speed. Heres the overview of what i have done and where i've left off for now, i have placed a few commercial BATS for the central commercial district. Thats all for this update my friends, hope you like what you see and cant wait to read all your comments, so far homeandaway cant get enough . come on all you people i want to hear what you think, constructive criticism accepted. Actually one last thing, for those of you that saw my last CJ heres a region view, and if you look back at my previous you can see the differences and what i had lost due to reformatting. Infact i'll post a before and after. BEFORE the reformatting disaster- this is the last surviving screenshot found on my old CJ of a region view. AFTER the reformatting disaster and where my region stands now, i may have lost some few great places, but i've gained a whole lot more. Smirkazor

Heya guys, once again thnx for the comments. Update time . This update will be the development of the previous update. But first there had been a disaster on the first river delta isle in lexampleton, one of the mid-rise commercial buildings had caught fire ! It was disastrous! There had not been a fire outbreak in lexampleton in 92years!!! Thankfully the firefighters actually went into work today for their yearly training and were able to get to the blaze quickly before it spread. The fire was soon out and the forensic team took over, they had discovered that the fire had been started deliberately!!! pending further investigation. Getting back to the mainland. Heres the zoned out area ready for development. That was the before and now this is the after. Overview. Starting to take shape. breaking News Update, the police have found a lead to the deliberate fire and have tracked down the culprits fleeing down the newely build highspeed rail lines, the police helicopter was dispathced to head them off and take them into custody. Thats all for this update, hope u liked it, a bit different from my others. Seeya. Smirkazor

Heya guys, time for a big, yet small update. its late at night atm so i wont be saying much and letting my pictures do the talking . for those that had seen my previous CJ of rivverbasin should know all about my sunken highways, i've taken alot of time and effort expand on what i've already come up with in my designs of my sunken highways and its intersections with some long forgotten bats i've had for a while and not really used to an extent. Still focusing on lexasland, and will be until i've completed it . Here is an overview of what i'm going to be working on today. I decided to redo the ground level highway and make it into a sunken one as they are much more enjoyable to make. To start with using this very handy tool to dig to exactly 15m to fully utilise the network addon mod. Once the hole has been dug, time to place back in that ground highway. to be able to get an elevated highway over a sunken highway i always have to create a tunnel as the elevated highway only likes to be elevated 15m no-matter what which is annoying at times. Then i began to place some walls to my sunken highway, as well as the bridges to where my on/offramps will be placed. Now for the details, i'll let the next 3 pictures tell the story. You like? i sure do!!, but this isnt the completed picture i have some pedestrian walkways over the highway where those stairs are, if u look u kight be able to see em in the next few pics. Also the extension of the transit highspeed rail line. Here we have a closeup of the plaza area of the new commercial area using the diagonal roads . Last pic of the night shows what i ended at when i noticed that it was 12:30 am Hope you enjoyed the pictures and that i have given people ideas. got a day off work tomorrow, so lets hope i feel like doing alot more. cant wait to read all ur comments. Hello again everyone, wow didnt think i'd get such support for bringing this region back, thanks for all your comments. But i am a bit concerned about what Favrekev04 wrote :S excuse me but i am for sure no beginner here, and i'm definately not your usual person who goes for complete realism, if it still exists, go see my 20 million region Lexasland. This game isnt just about trying to make as realistic cities as possible, its about using youre imagination to create something that only you can create. Plus theres plenty of places around the world that have alot of highways anyway. Got a few more pics to show for a small update. Thats all for now. Smirkazor

Thnx for the reply mike. For everyone that didnt see my last CJ, go take a look, its called River Basin: the region where anything could happen. Got some great stuff on there, may repost some pictures here. Smirkazor

Hello everyone and welcome to my latest and well second region that i have done, u may have heard of me before, i was the first british man well boy to get a 20 million region named lexasland, and im back for a second, but this time i am only looking for realism and looks, not just population. The first pictures that i will be presenting is just the look of the region, showing you the relief and beuty of my wonderous region. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/River%20Basin1.jpg border=0> and finally the best thing i love about this region is my 2 active volcanoes on both sides of the river. the first city that i will establish will be built on the river delta leading into the ocean. this is only the beginnig, pics of the first city to come soon so stay tuned. comments are most welcome, and should be compulsory. smirkazor

River Basin: The region where anything could happen
smirkazor replied to smirkazor's topic in SC4 City Journals
i've used it before, i think thats what caused the problem in the first place, when starting the region i used it to make my capitol but it made all the surrounding commercial go quite low, anyway i stopped using it and then this happened, so it might be linked to it in some way, guess its my only option unless theres something else -
River Basin: The region where anything could happen

i seem to be having trouble with maxwell-multinational, my capitol city. I wasnt very happy with it so i decided to change alot of it, when doing this is it seemed to mess it up alot, all commercial demands apart from the cs$ is all at its lowest. and no matter what i do it wont change, not only that but the mayor rating in my city is 5-6 bars in the red, and no matter what i do it stays around the same, i really dont understand it and i dont want to destroy the whole thing and rebuild it, any ideas? Thnx for ur comments. -

Show us your area's highways
smirkazor replied to hamsterTK's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
It would be absolutely amazing if we can recreate most of the highway interchanges etc into simcity 4, i'm a big fan of highways, they looks so great and intricate, it would really make my day to be able to use stuff like that in my regions. -

This is the second smaller part of this update, mainly just showing a few close up views of what i've done, enjoy. I may still need to do some tweaking with this bit below, with the amount of traffic that flows. This is one of my favourite, looks so nice. Thats all, next update will see the completion of Baskingville (hopefully). In the meantime enjoy the sights so far. Smirkazor -
River Basin: The region where anything could happen

Hello and welcome to a new update straight from river basin, but first some comments. Philscafe: Thx for ur continuing interests, shld be alot more to see of my imagination of transportation networks (i hope) Capitol1: Credit card? and thnx for the comment. Now down to business, very soon i will be just about finished with Baskingville i know its very sad but i must move on. I did Quite a large expansion this time, mainly industial, but with a tad of residential. First pic u may have seen on the previous page, but its here to remind. Red line obviously indicates what i'm developing. First of all i must decide where i'm going to put that ground level highway u can see there on the bottom right. So i thought, might as well connect it straight to the main raised highway, and of course it has to be sunken and heres the result. I also tried something i've never tried before, thats making part of the sunken highway only have 1 wall, well the picture explains it all. Next up is creating a shorline, as this is going to be an industrial area once again, we need a port obviously with some protection from the river. Now we need to add some infrastructure such as rail station and that thing on the right of it which i have forgoton what its called, with the completed port with some lovely roundabouts. Now comes the zoning process, using ctrl and drag to create box lots, and its nothing without some nice pipelines running through. So i let this bit develop and hit a small problem, one of the industrial buildings that was mentioned on the previous page had some problems, not only with water, but with the industrial X2 modd to make more jobs, but it kinda goes overboard and has about 3000 jobs, and does create a bit of traffic but hey my sims need jobs so i'm not gona start complaining . Because of this extra traffic i had to plan ahead and create some more trans networking, mainly with rail, some el rail and a bit of subways. The highways also do help a bit. So i zoned the rest of this area and started the construction of the small residential area north of the commercial zones across the main rail lines. Using the same technique that i have been using, but with something extra. RRRRRRR R=Road MMMMMMM S=Street M M M M M=Medium res SSSSSSSS M M M M MMMMMMM RRRRRRR And this is what it looks like so far!! Night pic Because i have a lot of pictures to show it will be a two parter once again, dont want to have too much in a single post, this is the bulk of what i wanted to show, the next wont be so big and will show close up views. Hope you've enjoyed this edition to river basin, would love to hear ur feedback if you can, much appreciated. Smirkazor. -

thnx for the comment darmok, u really havent missed that much. I've always prefered my way of zoning my suburbs, but if i wanted to squeeze more in, i probably would do jeroni, infact i never actually thought of doing it that way before till now lol. but by doing it that way, doesnt leave much room for recreation etc. -

Just a quick update, and an odd problem. i am currently working on the last part for baskingville atm, just thought i'd show you what i've done so far. This is the area i will be developing. I will be doing my best to merge the rest of yamamoto with baskingville. Now here the problem!!!! Even with all the schools/library's/colleges/museums/opera's and university's, they cant even figure out how to use the rail provided to travel from the residential on the left, to the new commercial to the right. what the hell is going on here!!!! i dont have any commuter mods on, may this be the problem?? pls let me know of anything else. Cjah: Thnx for the comment as always, i do my best. Capitol1: Welcome to my cj, and thnx for ur comment, and about the shorline, i dont use any special tools. Sloppet: thnx for ur comment, try to add a bit more . nik-nik: Welcome to my cj, there is something wierd about that building, i recently tried the industrial x2 to increase the jobs, and with this building, goes a bit overboard and has about 4000 jobs, lol This is a thing i've been looking for a while to go with my parkinglots i use, they are highlighted by the red circles, anyone know where these are from ????? and another update coming soon. Mightgoose: Hello and welcome to my cj, thnx for the comment, hope u come back soon. I've always believed that highways are the lifeblood of my cities. Nexis: Hi, welcome to my cj, come back soon, thn x for the comment. Just to finish off the update i started earlier, the latest addition to baskingville. This is about the size of the new addition to the main island in the river delta. The finished land reclamation. Say hello to the third largest international airport in river basin, hopefully to bring forth much needed businesses. Just stunning, esp at night. and finally a city wide picture. Still got bit to do. pls leave your comments if you like what you see. Smirkazor. -

Thatmonkeysim: thnx for ur comment. Philscafe: Thnx for ur comment, i think my port/industrial area looks fabulous, well basically most of what i do i think that, just you wait. Cjah: Thnx for ur comment, i consider myself a bit of a perfectionist, when i'm not satisfied with something i just have to make it right. Hello and Welcome back for another update in the region of River Basin, I am still focusing all my time i play on sc4 to baskingville for the time being. Today i will be showing 2 new areas that i have been working on, and also a land expansion on the main island. There will be 2 parts, as i have alot of pictures to post. To start with a small expansion on the mainlands commercial area. BEFORE AFTER This is where the start of the new low/medium residential area will be built outlined for you in the next 2 pics. In this next pic i did a little experimenting with the look of the red highlighted areas to get the best look for the residential areas. and the blue circles show a quick and easy way to lay out the residential areas to get the desired look of single houses instead of the game merging them together. and the finished look that i'm satisfied with. Lastly for this first part of this update 3 pictures showing you a bit closer. Just above the footbal pitch in the pic above with the parkinglot, i swear that i've seen something that properly merges the road with it for a better look than what i'm using, any ideas? Thats it fir this first part, i'm gona leave it for a few hours before i do the 2nd, give time for some comments i think. Smirkazor.
