2. Jin Mao Tower
cool building ... mao was a capitalist.
The Jin Mao Tower (金茂大厦) was actually designed by a group in Chicago, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, I believe. The thought was to modernize and extrapolate upon traditional Chinese architecture, thus creating a tiered pagoda of steel and glass. It is also modeled after the superstition, where it is built in patterns of 8 (八), so as to be close to the emperor and thus the gods, which would be nine (九) for good fortune. The Grand Hyatt is located in the upper floors, and from the observation deck which allows an inside glimpse of Puxi (浦西)and Pudong (浦东)as well as interior view which is a spiral of lights. Quite beautiful inside, out, and visually. At least that is what I can remember from when I went there in 2000.

  4. region downloading question

Render? Convert the image file to a region "map" used in the game... Sorry to be a pain, is that done in-game or with another program?
  5. region downloading question

There is an exception to that method. When I put a map on the STEX, it is contained fully in a .zip and you simply unpack the .zip file, make your region's folder and move the appropriate files into it. Then render the map. This allows the download to happen in one swoul foop. The original method has been superseded by the current rev of software, I believe. Render?
