1st - welcome to the game. Very fun indeed. 2nd - If you are not playing with the network add on mod (NAM) you are not really playing. Seriously. 3rd - You are right that you should try to place them in a low desirable area. I wouldn't stress too much over it though. If they turn into med wealth immediately so what? You can also try increasing zone density of already low wealth areas so they can build bigger units to house more low wealth people. As far as I know there is no way to force a particular wealth class onto a particular lot. Desirability affects this as well as other things. You can make an area more likely to have certain types of sims but it is tough to guarantee what will happen.

I think that following the road guides is a pretty fool proof guide to how big city blocks should be in game. The biggest buildings usually fit in it back to back if you follow them. It is pretty boring though. Another down side to following road guides (a grid) is traffic. I have not figured out, yet, the games pathing. It seems agents will take the shortest distance possible even if it is obviously slow. There can be a traffic jam that, in game time, literally takes 6 hours to clear. More sims will happily pile up behind it and wait, emergency vehicles do not have right of way and will also happily pile up.. Don't know about any of the readers but if traffic was that bad I would go an alternate route. So, short answer to your question: I think it is going to depend on figuring out how the traffic routes and then you will know how big the zoned area should be. Once I know that I will be able to optimize space used for roads with space used for buildings.

Origin Server Status - Unified thread
brondi00 replied to Dirktator's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
This may be of some help to you all. You can actually get some information from the twitter feed at https://twitter.com/simcity They tell you when they are pulling servers offline. They suggest just using a different server. Don't know about y'all but, since I can not migrate my saves, that sucks. I have been working on a region off and on, as able, and I do not want to start over with a tutorial and empty region on some server.
