I am not a colonialist, but there people are too primitive and tribal to belong to the global village. - N_O_Body Please inform the community just exactly who, or what makes one...advanced enough to belong to the global village. This idea and concept has really piqued my interest. You may not be a colonialist, but you sure are elitist, and you surely have never been to Africa either.

beesbeess Xmas Holiday to the Lake District, Cumbria, England

The picture in which you question the position of the tree, is far and away the best picture of the entire set. I think it's perfect just the way it is, because it sits in the valley and is brought out with the sky as its background. It's only too bad that you can't discern whether it's cloudy in the picture, or sunny. The washed out skies really draw away from a bunch of these photo's. In one of the pictures, you can see the sun rays shining down on a little village in the valley. Perhaps you should consider a crop to bring the subject more into focus. Your water shots: There's a way to manually set up your camera to do this. I don't know off hand how to do it, but the water ends up looking like satin fluid, and not over exposed. I think patience would be your biggest friend though. You pictures just scream impatience. It almost seems in some, that you're taking your shots before the camera even settles down into what it wants to do. Have you ever tinkered with manual settings before? Concentrate on your subjects more, and think about ways you can bring them out. Perhaps take multiple shots of the same subject, go back, look at them on the big screen, and then even go back and retake shots if you have to. Personally, I do that a lot. -
Vids Digital Photography Thread [Lots of Images]

Dad didn't get me anything for christmas this year, I'll bug him for a memory card.. - Mr. Vid Please don't ask your dad for a new memory card. Pictures can always be easily downloaded to your computer...but memory is cheap these days...sooooo... I guess you could ask for that also. But what you should really do, is ask for a new camera. Either that, or make an honest effort to invest in one. You will be happily rewarded. Just by looking at the pics, anybody with a trained eye can tell you're using a camera similar to what you're using. If you're serious about doing this picture thing, then you should invest a couple hundred bucks, and get a good camera. If you do get a new camera, you'll see lots of improvement all around. Your blues will be bluer. Everything will seem more in focus. Your colors will be richer. By looking at your photos, it seems your camera has a tendency to over expose. This is especially noticable in the first few pictures where the sky is pretty much just washed out. Trust me, the investment is worth it. I didn't want to bight the bullet and get a new camera, but spending the $500 on my Canon S70 was arguably the best money I've EVER spent. This is compared to my vehicles, my apartments, and my computers. I suggest getting a camera of at least 5.0 MP, with RAW capabilities. Good look shooting. Maybe I'll put up some of nice shots in the coming days *ponders*. If you'd like some tips, I'd be more than willing to share. -
Tis' a solid region yes, but am I the only one who finds it amusing that you've named your region after a rather potent anti-depressant?

Operation Buffalo Wing: A Blizzard of BAT
Merkinball replied to Sabretooth78's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Hey Operation Buffalo Wing folks, I stumbled upon a link that may be of some use to you all. Although, I'm sure someone has it already. http://www.buffaloresearch.com/built.html It's got all kinds of stuff. On a side note, I've become confident enough in my batting skills that I'm now going to start devoting my efforts towards BATing some of the huge factories in and around Western NY. If any of you guys would like to lend a hand, you're more than welcome to. Especially when it comes to detailing. Chris -
I simply adore the industrial region. The repetitiveness in the downtown district needs some adjusting in my opinion.

Tisk tisk, Goober, you know you shouldn't tease, unless you aim to please...

*salivates at the thought of a Ted's Hot Dog* We get the same hot dogs as Ted's here at home, unfortunately I lack a cheese and chili machine, but I do slather them in mustard and hot relish. *salivates more* -
Awesome...just awesome...

Damn buddy, you've gone all out on the new one. You are quite the heckler for clean water too if I do say so myself.

Wow, you've been playing that sucker for a long time haven't you?

TUTORIALS - Index to all the Knowledge!!
Merkinball replied to RalphaelNinja's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
This crap has become unbelievably frustrating and irritating. I have finished the modeling part, and I TRYING to texture the thing. I have read the texture tutorial. Here is the explicit direction given to apply the first texture. We'll begin at the beginning. Start by creating a new material and follow through above to select mjbB00002.tga. Make sure the little box that lets the texture show in the perspective view is clicked on. Select Wall - Front, apply a UVW Map to it, and pick Box from the rollout. Hit Apply in the Material Editor to put the new texture on the wall. Well guess what, I have tried this by following all of these steps item by item, and by trying to get the texture to apply many other ways. Unfortunately, once I get the wall selected, the UVW map applied, the box checked, and the texture picked, I suddenly CANNOT click the apply button. Yarg, this is uber frustrating. -
Wow... Every BAT you make leaves me in amazement. I can only hope the ones I create in the upcoming week turn out HALF as good as yours.
