  1. Lag, lag, and more lag

Thanks for the clear and concise directions. I will try that!
  2. Lag, lag, and more lag

What do you mean, shut down all CPU's but one? Can you elaborate a little more? I don't know how to do that.
  3. Lag, lag, and more lag

Hardware. Hmmm.....okay, I'll try that and see if it helps.
  4. Lag, lag, and more lag

I don't know about that, my video card is pretty good- much better than the one I had in my older system, which was one of my points. I don't want to have to be so restricted. I would rather my game not crash either.
  5. Lag, lag, and more lag

I'm having a terrible time trying to play the game- I don't get any crashes, but I do get major lockups and sometimes the game will take about ten minutes just to cycle through one month. It will freeze for thirty seconds or so when I try to scroll around my city- the worst is when buildings are being built. Years ago I played this game on a computer with windows 2000, a much crappier one than I have today, and it worked fine. I never had any major issues, and certainly nothing like what I have now. I tried turning down the graphics, and that helped somewhat, but only in smaller cities. Besides, I didn't pay over a hundred bucks for a good graphics card so that I could run games on lowest settings. I want to be able to enjoy the beauty of my city. And no other game lags like this- Sims 2, Civilization, Medieval 2: Total War, all run perfectly. I even tried calling EA, and they said the same thing they always do- uninstall and reinstall, which I did. Still didn't fix my problem, and they have limited tech support because this is obviously anolder game. Please help! I really want to be able to play again without it being so laggy. I adore this game! My stats: Deluxe Box Set- 2 mods- Peg's water mod, and a mod that fixes the opera house. I also recently installed Darkmatter's traffic mod, but I had this problem before installing any of the above mods. Windows XP Pro AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.01 GHZ, 3 gigs of ram ATI Radeon HD 4600
  6. Schools and Zones

Good to know, thanks. I usually put my landfill and ugly utilities on the edges.
  7. Schools and Zones

Yes, but do I really need to do that? Won't the connections still work if I don't reconcile the edges?
  8. Schools and Zones

So, it's been awhile since I've played. But a few days ago I broke down and bought the new box set- and of course Simcity 4 was every bit as addictive as I remembered! There are two questions I have but can't seem to get answered. One is, if I build a large elementary school so that part of the circle where the buses go is going into the city next to it, will the children in that other city be able to access the school? Currently I have one larger city and two other farming communities next to it. The farming communities are struggling somewhat, and I would like to be able to send the children from there to the school in the larger city. My other question is, if I don't reconcile the edges of my cities, will they still be connected? I keep getting a message about how my city edges aren't reconciled, but if I reconcile them I will destroy quite a bit of developed land, and a large bridge. I need to save all the money I can!
