  1. SimCity at E3 2012

That's sad. Hopefully it was an honest mistake. But thinking it's Origin-organized... Yeah... Though either way, I bet many people would still watch the stream even if there was no promo code. I know I will. edit: There's a promo code form for SimCity. Maybe it might still work..
  2. underwellmed by E3 coverage

It's part of the marketing. Other than that, they're probably being careful not to give people false hopes. I bet that's something they learned from Spore.
  3. Am I the only one

You'd find most of the answers here: I think I need to take a break from all of this...
  4. SimCity at E3 2012

Yes, regions are confirmed. There are articles scattered around the net about it. The game isn't meant to be visually hyper realistic, nor in perfect scale. It's part of the artstyle. And for the nth time: Modding was promised. --- http://www.facebook.com/SimCity

  6. I'm not worried too much about the bare lots, and other missing elements for that matter. Cause those will obviously be fixed before the game ships. Unless something terribly goes wrong, which I highly doubt would happen. Same goes for the textures. Even if they end up looking like plastic though, modding will still be able to make it more realistic. I mean, they're just textures... :| The important thing is that the simulation and tools will be there.
  7. SimCity E3 Gameplay Trailer

Too bad for SC4 (mod edition) conservatives...
  8. SimCity at E3 2012

It looks like they finally ditched the stop-motion effect... I hope it is what it seems.
  9. SimCity at E3 2012

The game isn't even finished yet, but it's already looking great! Welcome back SimCity...
  10. SimCity at E3 2012

    Dayummmm... That simulator is incredible!
  11. SimCity at E3 2012

There's a press conference by EA at 1pm today. It begins in less than 2 hours. Watch it live here: http://www.ea.com/e3 Then tomorrow (June 5) at 12nn PT, there is Kip's Q&A: http://www.origin.com/simcity-chat Here's the local time for LA: http://www.timeandda...city.html?n=137
  12. SimCity: Gameplay

Will Wright's latest impression about SC and Maxis. http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/will-wright-reminisces-on-e3-and-looks-forward-towards-the-future-of-gaming/
  13. First in-game SimCity 5 screenshots

That's essentially the same thing people were saying about a stadium in CXL during its development. RIP Monte Cristo. People here have the tendency to compare the look of city-sim games with real life. SC obviously has its own non-realistic artstyle. It is what it is, there's nothing wrong with itself. It only becomes a problem if you prefer more realism. Your solution: mod
  14. A city simulator wasn't used on this study, but the findings still interest me... http://www.sciencedi...747563210002803 SC4 has definitely changed over the years, thanks to the mods. And with it, so did the ST community.
  15. I've got a bunch of lame theories for your question... edit: In the end, a game is still a game.
  16. First in-game SimCity 5 screenshots

Non-stop whining about a game's graphics... Talk about being childish.
  17. First in-game SimCity 5 screenshots

They've already said before that building models won't be procedurally generated. Textures and signages are to be produced by the simulator. While key buildings will have functional modules. Upto what degree those simulations will have an effect on the visual look of the buildings have yet to be seen. @rctshack: How can you be disappointed about gameplay, when they haven't even shown any concrete information on the exact game mechanics? Don't expect to see everything with just 3 pre-release screens... @Bipin: As far as I know, there are already key buildings in the core game that can affect the look and function of the other buildings in a city (ie Coal HQ).
  18. First in-game SimCity 5 screenshots

There are still lots of obvious missing elements. So I'd say those screenshots are not 100% final gameplay graphics yet. Though I assume that the overall look and feel would most probably remain pretty much the same on ship.
  19. SimCity release date revealed

February 2013, no exact day yet. http://www.gamesrada...-date-revealed/
  20. The original and easy going ST that I loved is beginning to make a come back... Thanks in part to those screens.
  21. First in-game SimCity 5 screenshots

They gave plenty of creative space for modders to meddle with the game. I'm fine with the look, it's decent and it's essentially very SimCity. But a "living" simulation and quality gameplay still overshadow graphics anytime...
  22. Those shots pretty much shows where the final artstyle is headed. They could probably add an option in the video settings to desaturate the colors, just to lessen the complaints.
  23. Edit: Release date narrowed http://www.joystiq.c...e-february-2013 Older article: http://www.computera...et-for-q1-2013/
  24. They narrowed down the release date to February 2013... http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/01/simcity-building-into-your-personal-life-february-2013/
  25. Some people need to lighten up. Even SC4 is "cartoony" in its own way... If you want more realism, then I suggest you wait for the mods; or play Cities XL instead.
