Exclusive offer for players of Cities XL 2009
Winter Dragon replied to buidingbig's topic in Cities XXL
Pre-ordered here also. -
None, it's just an inconvenience and pain in the arse having to have one email for this version of the game and another for a different version, that's all. I'll get over it don't worry, and sorry for going off topic.
-
Yes, but because I already registered one copy of the game last year, my email address is now locked to the cd key I registered with then. I cannot use my email address now to register the LE key because my email is already used for the standard key.
-
The problem is with Monte Cristo's registration form, doesn't matter what version of the game you buy, you're only allowed to use one email address per CD key on that page. If you try to use the same email but with a different key it says "the email address is already registered to an account." and doesn't let you finish.
-
So, I installed the Limited Edition version and uinstalled the Standard Edition I already have. I cannot use any of the Limited Edition content, because my email address is registered to the standard version's CD key. When I log into the LE install with my username nad password created from the standard registration, none of the new maps or buildings are there. Turns out you can only have one CD key registered per email. So in short, I paid for something I cannot use, and by the time I get this sorted out 2011 will be out. Cannot express how angry this makes me feel, but at the same time I'm laughing inside at the stupidity. What was I thinking?
-
I normally wouldn't buy a game twice, but for that price the Limited Edition may as well be a DLC addon. *Done!*

There are a number of unofficial answers to many existing and new questions here: And here, too. (Just noticed GlobexCo's thread on Simtropolis, sorry.) A Steam digital version of 2011 has also been verified on page 2 of this thread:

Sorry to do this but my capital is going to change from The Eye to Dragon Isle, and the numbers for my population are going to be changing a lot too. Links to my CJs will be unavailable for a while as well, but they'll be back when I make a new CJ next week. -
Where did it say anything about PayPal? we will let all Cities XL owners benefit from an exceptional discount of 50% on the downloadable version of Cities XL 2011 available on the official website of the game. For that, you will only need to use your player key from Cities XL (Standard Edition or Limited Edition) and enter it on the special shop that will be live very soon. Cities XL 2011 will be available around the 14th of October. I interpret that as saying anyone with the standard or Limited Cities XL (Retail or Digital) will get the 50% discount. All it means to me is that the 2011 game will be a Digital download for those of us using this offer. They cannot put 50% on the retail version or everyone will get it at 50%.

The Gregorian Plains - A tour through Gregory Valley!
Winter Dragon replied to Damastius's topic in Cities XXL City Journals
I really like this CJ, I must admit I've been a bit chicken (pun honestly not intended) to try and do farming villages and smaller towns. A real inspiration! -
Your enemy seems to be doing a tremendous amount of damage. Is there no way you can stop them? Excellent CJ btw.
-
Where does it say they fixed it? Yes, my hopes are high with 2011 on a number of things.
-
We were told by MC that our cities in 2009 will be compatible with 2011, so if that's still the case (which I hope it is) then you can move your city to 2011 and then have whatever new things in that.

5 million? It slows down for me with just 50,000 people after ~20-30 minutes. AMD 6000+ Dual Core (~3.0GHz) 3GB DDR2-800 RAM 9500GT (512MB) PCI-E Windows XP 32 bit + sp3 Page file size: 6GB I run the game on medium detail, but it makes no difference on low or very low detail. The game becomes unplayable for me after ~20-30 minutes whether I have 50,000 people or almost 500,000. I know my system is a bit old now but the game starts smooth when loading a city and gradually gets slower and slower. Main thing I notice is the UI menus. They take longer and longer to open, and I hear several clicks and swishes instead of just one of each.

Cities XL 2011 with new site and release date!!!
Winter Dragon replied to ACEH's topic in Cities XXL
It's nice they updated it, but it still seems as vague and unspecific as Monte Cristo's. There seems to be no list of specific features or changes to 2011, and with less than a month until their reported release date that bothers me a little. I'll keep checking it though, thanks for mentioning it. -
Applications for the Union of Cities XL Journals
Winter Dragon replied to luddmamm's topic in Cities XXL
Application withdrawn. Reason: My country wasn't suitable for the UCXL, I wrote too much history and details that can not be changed, as I have already put them in my CJ. Sorry for the inconvenience. -
If I hadn't bought Cities XL already I'd definitely wait for Cities XL 2011.

What was/is your biggest challenge in solo mode?
Winter Dragon replied to sauced's topic in Cities XXL
Keeping hoodies away from the upper class. -
I subscribed for the final six weeks of planet offer and had mixed reactions to it. On the positive side it was cool talking to other builders and visiting one another's cities. But with constant contract suspensions and interrupts, expired trial accounts clogging up available maps and of course the treacherous memory leak that is still with us; I understand why many didn't subscribe past the first month.
-
The traffic thing is a complete and utter. Joke. Instead of moving 15 lanes in a couple of minutes it takes several, then traffic gets jammed up because no one can move fast enough. It takes 20 minutes for someone to travel to work instead of 5 or less. Not cool but we're stuck with it.
-
If MC is still serious about its comment on supporting the community through modding, it needs to act now before a new company buys them.
-
Why does only one lane go at any one time at intersections? Traffic takes 3-4x longer to move through intersections than it does in real life then I get traffic jams, which I really shouldn't get it f these roads were a proper simulation. Why do one way roads cost double the money to maintain than normal roads? I like one ways, but it's actually cheaper to build two normal lane roads than to covert two existing ones into one way. A lot of things like this annoy me, and I don't understand the logic behind them.

I stopped playing about a month after Planet Offer ended. It's nothing personal against MC, I just found the city building experience to be lonely and isolationist due to no trade with my own cities. I don't see the point in building several cities which all have something the other wants only to have to sell to a npc, so until they add the option to do that all of my citizens are on holidays.
