Okay, mentarman was right; this thread isn't going to be closed down as of yet, let's keep that in mind. I'm glad, BTW, because this thread really is quite a mature one, yet it's handled in a greatly dignified member. I'm proud to be a member of SimTropolis. Anyway, to keep with the current subject, I have watched Q.E. very rarely, although I know who all of the characters are, more or less. I must admit though, that although these men are quite talented at what they do, I am rather disgusted at how many gay stereotypes they manage to slam into their personalities and whatnot. They really are quite garden-variety gay people. There is one man that I adore on that show though, and that's Ted Lusk (Food & Wine). He's an extremely talented cook, a great person (he appears to be, anwyay), and he handles himself in a very classy fashion. I mean, he doesn't, for a lack of better terminology/vernacular, act gay. You know what I mean? He is a very intelligent and well presented individual, and I think that he should have his own show on the Food Network! Go Ted! And go SimTropolis! ~J

I truly don't believe that the subject of orientation is a mature subject. In fact, if it were discussed with children at a younger age, perhaps many gay or bisexual children wouldn't have to deal with the torment of thinking that they're strange and not at all like the rest of their peers. It happened to me, I know what I'm talking about here. Anyway, I think that this is quite a dignified subject, indeed justified for those who not only participate in it, but who read it as well. I mean, if you really don't want to participate in it, then don't. Thank you. Besides, this thread has kept such a positive direction for the first five pages, let's keep that going! ~J

@SimguyUK: I'm actually not sure what that makes you. Honestly, you could theoretically be bisexual. It all depends on how you interpret your feelings for this boy. I figure it like this; you could be seeing this potential same-sex attraction in two different [propable] ways: 1) You would actually want to enter a relationship with him, -or- 2) It's simply flattering that a person of the same sex would find you attractive in a way that he would find noone else of the same sex attractive. To be honest, I've had those feelings regarding women. If a girl hits on me or finds me attractive, I'm almost never offended by it, in fact I find it quite flattering, perhaps in the same way that you do. Doesn't mean that I would attempt to make a relationship with them, but it's just nice to hear that someone out there thinks you're hot stuff. Know what I mean? @XSpiderman: Regarding the transgendered; I really didn't know that about the brain. Wow, the human mind truly is an extremely complex thing. Very interesting concept and theory (has the claim in its specific entirety been sceintifically proven, or is it still theory?) though. It's great to hear that people are open to acceptance of new scientific data and proof as it readily becomes available. It shows that the world may be changing and heading in a more progressive, open-minded direction. I would hope this much for the United States as well. (That's not a shot at the U.S.A. in any way, shape, or form, BTW. Please don't flame me.) @ATPjohn: You know, quite often, people come to me for coming out advice as well (online and in real life). You know what it may well be? The fact that we have come out, we have no problem with our own homosexuality (or bisexuality), and we're still the same people that we were before we came out, more or less. People in the closet may admire that, and want to emulate this success within their own lives. IDK. ~J

Duke87: Some very interesting points, although I don't truly believe that one can be swayed in either direction. I believe that if you're gay or bi or anything like that: You've been like that since you were born, you can't really change it (although there are churches out there that try to brainwash some into thinking so [i'm serious, and this is no shot at the church]), and that it's just a matter of how difficult it is for you to realize your homosexuality or bisexuality. I mean, I can remember having little childhood crushes in Kindergarten! But they were boys. My first celeb crush, when I was eight, was on a guy. Even through all this, I didn't completely realize that I was gay until I was about 13y/o. Why? Well, it's kind of hard to admit these things to yourself. I mean, I spent many hours of my life during early puberty trying to tell myself it's okay, maybe everyone thinks like this and well, girls can't be that bad... Yes, after over a year of thinking about it I finally admitted it to myself, and soon after to everyone else who mattered in my life. In this I find myself in great agreement with Duke87. The human mind is indeed a very complex thing. Too complex for me to handle gracefully, hence this small deal took over a year of my mental life to maul over. I'm glad I took the time that it deserved though. I feel that I'm a better person for it[realizing that I'm gay]. ~J

Homosexuality and bisexuality aren't actually choices, they're believed to be predetermined genetically. Rather, it's our choice to be open about the fact that we are indeed gay and bi. Thanks for your support, though! Very nice of you. ~J

Well, I don't think you'll have to worry about that. Throughout all of the studies of sexuality and whatnot, it has been at least confirmed that in every study, only approximately 1-10% of people are homosexual. I think that homosexuality is perhaps a genetic (if at all genetic; no one flame me on that statement, please) rarity. I don't personally think that anyone can be recruited, or for that matter 'turned' gay. I mean, if one thinks that they can seriously change their own sexual preference at will, perhaps they have an extremely weak mind or do not fully understand the theories and concepts that sexuality entails. Yup. It's definitely an even mix of SimCity and difficult girls. I know, it's what made ME gay. No. There are lots of gay people everywhere. I mean, out of all of the active forumers on this website, maybe 15~20 are gay. Maybe. How many active forumers are there overall, usually? 'Round 150~160, I'd say. Sounds like an even mix to me. Maybe the fact is that you just notice the gay people more because we are different. Who knows. Meh. Anyway, I would like to help keep on topic with a picture du moi! Can you come back and idolize me in about 10 minutes? Yeah, I have my own biznatch-ing moments as well. ~J
