Actually it's not a lie. If you read Cities XL's facebook page and just browse this forum, you'll see there are a ton of people having serious issues with getting this game to work. Count yourself lucky if you made it through without issues. I purchased the game and unfortunately have been unable to connect to Monte Cristo's servers and their tech support has not responded to my issue requests for nearly 72 hours now. It's unfortunate.

Registration and Installation Problems.

At least you guys can get into the game and play it. My registration is still messed up. I've had ZERO support from Monte Cristo on this after 72 hours of waiting...not even a peep other than some random responses on their facebook site. The registration process, contrary to what anyone who's had good luck with it says, is a total disaster. They've basically told me to register a second time with a different user/nickname/email, etc. I tried that, but the product key from my purchase is already attached to my old user...so I can't attach it to my new user. Crazy, eh? -
Sure is! Been down since the 11th. May never work. Congrats Monte Cristo you've swindled people out of $ with your phantom product. (Sorry...just frustrated about this mess).

anyone heard from tech support

I've not heard squat. I still haven't been able to get past the launch screen where I'm supposed to get the "patch". Crock of sh**!!!! -
Well so far in my opinion Monte Cristo has already lost me. Their approach to launching the game has been a disaster. Read the forums and their facebook page. People can't even get the game running. No matter how good the gameplay is, many people will remember this disaster and automatically give Cities XL a giant black mark when comparing it so SC 4 or any SC game. EA may be considered the evil empire by some, but I've never purchased a game from them that I couldn't at least install and play. The hassle and frustration they've caused with their haphazard game launch is already enough to make me clamor desperately for a SC 5...from the original producers. Come on EA! Give us a SC 5 already!!! We are desperate for the real thing...not some half-baked imitation.

Is it me or this game a pile of junk? How in the world did this crap ever pass their testers...wait...did they even have testers? PLEASE EA/MAXIS...give us a real Sim City game!!!

Series of frustrating startup issues -- please help?
rolltide09 replied to Drederick_Tatum's topic in Cities XXL Technical Issues
I am having a similar problem with the digital download. I am able to get the launcher to appear, however, it constantly displays the message "servers are down for maintenance" and never connects to anything. I also turned of my anti-virus and firewall and tried again. Same thing. I also emailed Monte Cristo's "phantom" support desk and received ZERO responses. That was nearly 36 hours ago as well. I'd love to play this game, but clearly Monte Cristo is not ready for this release and will likely ruin their reputation with this mess. God knows I'm praying EA/Maxis gets in gear and brings us a Sim City soon. -
Servers are down for maintenance - never goes away

I've tried everything and their support has been non-existent. Not a single peep. The launcher tells me it needs to download an update, however, it never does download it. -

Is anyone else receiving the "Servers are down for maintenance" message when launching the game? I can't get past this to even play the game. I bought the game via digital dowload from the CitiesXL site. I was able to download and install the game. I cannot play it. I verified my firewall allowed the game internet access and made sure the port requested was available, but still nothing but that pain in the butt message. VERY FRUSTRATING. Monte Cristo has not even bothered to respond to my support email. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! -
Anyone else having the "Servers are down for maintenance" message when attempting to launch the game? I've gotten that message for two days now. Not a single response from Monte Cristo help after sending them an email. I have made sure my firewall allows the program internet access and also opened the port they specified on the Cities XL site. I'm getting really pissed off. Very close to contacting my credit card company and disputing the charge. And I was so excited to play this game...not so much anymore.
