  1. New Valley...In the Beginning

I love the street views of your village. The amount of trees in it is absolutely gorgeous and allows for so much privacy between your highways and your small villages.! Anyways, keep up the good work.
  2. Am I missing something?

Yeah, I got the 7-Day Trial alongside two sheets on how to install the game and two sheets about G.E.M.s... but no manual. I sent MC a ticket and they responded to me saying that I should update my Nividia drivers and that I should replace the copy that I have with another one.
  3. Am I missing something?

Guys, all I really to know is if there was something important in that registration e-mail that I didn't receive. Did it have a download link to some stuff in order to play the game? If so, then there's really something wrong with the copy of the game I have and I'll just return it A.S.A.P. and most likely get another one to try out. Though I think it's really weird that got a bad copy of the game since I took a random copy in the middle of the stack of Cities XL games they had displayed. 0_o Maybe that's the stack was high, they were all defective and people kept returning them and making it worst.
  4. Am I missing something?

I don't really care much for $80 as it still won't resolve my issue. $180 probably included installation, taxes and the fact that it was Canadian dollars (instead of U.S. dollars.)
  5. Am I missing something?

Ugh... I'd rather not. I already spent $180 so that I can add 2Gb RAM for this game and I don't want to spend some more on something that probably isn't causing the problem.
  6. Am I missing something?

For what it's worth, the error message is this: (despite my doubts that anyone can understand it.) "Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: CLR20r3 Problem Signature 01: citiesxl.exe Problem Signature 02: 1.0.0.0 Problem Signature 03: 4b2a0691 Problem Signature 04: CitiesXL Problem Signature 05: 1.0.0.0 Problem Signature 06: 4b2a0691 Problem Signature 07: 2073 Problem Signature 08: 1 Problem Signature 09: System.TypeInitialization OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 4105" @Commoner: Despite not having the manual, I got a piece of paper that had the serial number placed on top of where you would put the CD. What's even weirder is that the game was bought sealed (as in: it isn't a used game.) Perhaps they ran out of funds to keep making manuals? Well, I contacted MC hoping for a good reply. I'll just wait until next week before returning it at Costco. I'm just a little bit confused, because I saw my exact same problem happen to another user who had bought the game through steam. So I doubt it would change anything. Does anybody else have the Windows Vista Special Pack 1 thing? I'm thinking maybe it's my computer that can't recognize the game (or vice versa.)
  7. Am I missing something?

God help me, I'm doomed!! I guess I'll just have to return the game, there's no point futzin' around with this piece of crap anymore.

Well, this may start to get a little bit confusing so bare with me. I uninstall the game, pop the disc back inside my PC and click on the Install button. I agree to the terms and select the English language. It starts installing and goes through all 4 pictures and I am then greeted by a message asking if I want to register my account (considering I've already done so, I simply click "cancel" and start to enter my login and password.) I click on "Connect" and I then have to go through a 5-7 minute download (for an update I presume.) After it's done, I click on "install" and a series of pop-up windows start appearing on my task bar (they flash in yellow and they end with ".exe".) It's telling me an unidentified program wants to access my computer. I click "Allow" and a miniature CXL bar appears and fills in green (much like during the process of those 4 pictures.) These keep recurring 20 times (they are relatively short and it says something that goes like "falid - 0 processes killed" most of the time) until I get to a patch that ends with "434". Afterward, my computer tells me that "Cities XL has stopped working." Note that the game doesn't ask me for my serial number during this installation... maybe because it's already encrypted elsewhere in my PC? Seems pretty fishy to me. As a point of interest, I have an Acer Vista Laptop with Aspire 4250 / Over 3000 Mb of RAM / NVidia Geforce 7000M There's a "crystal eye" web-cam integrated within it that may or may not be interfering with the installation (considering it's always off; I doubt so.)
  9. Am I missing something?

Well could you tell me how you installed the game? I'm sure I'm just forgetting to do something here.
  10. Am I missing something?

Yep, I created an account if that's what you meant.
  11. Am I missing something?

Hi, I've recently bought this game and I can't seem to install it correctly (my computer meets the system requirements, for those who are wondering.) I've heard people talk around here about a download manager that you get in a registration e-mail. The only e-mail I actually received was regarding the Planet Offer and it didn't contain any necessary information for me to install the game correctly. There's also some talk about the seriel code being behind a maual. I didn't get a manual with the standard edition of Cities XL and the seriel code was actually placed on top of where you put the CD (in the case.) So I'm just wondering if I'm missing something, because no matter what I do. I can't install the game on my Laptop... and if someone is kind enough to do it... do you think maybe you could give me a step-by-step of how you installed the game. I'm such a newb that I'm sure I overlooked something important. Pretty much any help would be appreciated at this point, thanks in advance.

Why didn't I get a purchase e-mail? The only thing I received was an advertisement for the P.O.
  13. Hesitating on buying this game.

So I ended up buying the game considering I saw it for $35 at Costco, but guess what... I can't install the freaking thing! Gah, I tried so many times but it keeps dying on me AFTER all of those annoying mini-updates near the end (I think there are 20 in-a-row.) Thank you MC, I haven't even played the game yet and I can already say that this is the worst PC game I've ever had the misfortune of buying. On a side-note: Do I really need 2.5 GB of RAM (running on a Vista, Laptop?) Or is that just Hard Disk space? I know my computer has 1,7-something RAM on it and I don't want to pay to add some extra RAM to my PC.
  14. Hesitating on buying this game.

I have a few questions that need to be answered: 1) Can I build all of the buildings in the game for single player only? Would I be able to trade resources with Omnicorp in order to make the Eiffel Tower in S.P. for exemple? 2) Are all of the patches P.O. exclusives or will I be able to get some more buildings and some awesome night shots without having to subscribe to it? As you can see, I'm not digging this whole P.O. exclusive content service and I'm just trying to justify 40-50$ for this game. If the answer is yes to both of these then I'll definately buy this game, if not then I'll wait a few months until something good comes out from MC (as in: an act of kindness towards S.P. players.) Or, just an updated verson of this game with all of the P.O. exclusive stuff for S.P. -- though I wouldn't mind it being more expensive, so that wouldn't problem.
