  1. Show us your roadmaps

Raccoon City. 3.2 Mil at the moment. Alas, I'm not left-brained like many here
  2. Where are the in-game screenshots stored? I keep hitting the button, but I can't locate where it saves to. Thanks.
  3. Cities XL Hints & Tips

I finally figured Cities XL out! Use the satisfaction button - for the longest time I was trying to figure out how to gauge my people. This wasn't obvious to me until today. Re-enforcing Gyz, just build one of each building. You'll get to about 1.5m citizens right around the time you've built one of each, at that point you should be raking in the dough. All that's left is to use landmarks. Secondly, plan around freeways. Yes, they cost beaucoup bucks at the beginning, but leave spaces. My trick, I just lay down a pair of small farm roads of where I want the Freeways to go. Make sure to accommodate spaces for junctions as well. Some of the maps are bugged, In Old Valley it appears when you try to link a highway and highway bridge you get an "Invalid Junction" error - you can circumvent by connecting the bridge ends to a junction of your choice (large intersection works well) and continue the highway from there. It took me a long time to figure out passenger and freight - just make sure you have high traffic roads running across your city and this will be generated for you. In rural farm areas, make sure you have plenty of atleast small avenues. Unfortunately, freight will be a problem for farms until you start building civilization closer to the farm area. Again, another reiteration of a previous post: you cannot have a large city with heavy industry/manufacturing because of pollution. You must rely on trade. If it weren't for the bugs (ie education, leisure, commerce, etc etc) I would give this game a 10/10 (even if it didn't have disasters, ambient sound, mass trans).
  4. Pros and Cons

Howdy all, Pros: + Graphics: Cities XL is probably the best looking city builder on the market + Attention to Detail: A corollary to graphics, the attention to detail (ie textures/animation) is phenomenal Cons: - Highways: There needs to be a way to rotate junctions - it's unsat I have to build roads to align junctions - Auto-pause: It annoys me to no end the game auto-pauses in Solo Mode - Economy: I can deal with the ridiculousness of Omnicorp, but Leisure/City Services/Commerce is too enigmatic, there simply is no real feedback to the player on how they are doing to get their economy going. Also, loans are one shot deals... I realize this game is not SC4, nay, it's better in many respects...but it's equally worse in others. What all are your pros and cons?
  5. Megacity Status?

Kind of the big problem is I know what makes the citizens unhappy, I just have no way of knowing what I really need to do to make them happy. I've bulldozed entire neighborhoods to build schools, but they never get happy. All of which is moot...these things are wayyyyyyyyy to expensive. Do I choose between putting down a school or buying fuel or food? It's no win, because more often than not I will be buying resources and have no budget for schools and the like.
  6. Megacity Status?

Hi all, The biggest city I've been able to build is 982k. How do I go bigger? My limitations are always elites and execs...they eventually stop wanting to move in... Thanks.
  7. Better Game Saving?

Hey all, Any chance saves will work better? I like to plop down stuff to see how they look - but they end up being permanent because of automatic saving. Thanks.
  8. So...has anyone figured out how mail order folks can download the game? I still can't find a link anywhere...and I will be without disc until Nov. No replies or anything to my email. I wouldn't blame them, once a customer gave me money I'd just forget about 'em. Thanks.
  9. Guide: Speed up the client DL

Howdy friends, I elected to have Cities XL shipped via DVD, but how do I download it off the Cities XL website? It'll be a while before I get the disc. I do have my CD key, just no way to download the game. Thanks.
