Why should i have to be connceted to the internet to play single player? I already logged on and registered and verified cd key now let me freakin play single player offline.quote> Route through your works firewall by using a proxy like HotSpot Shield.
  2. Cities XL single player hands on impressions

You have to give them a couple days on shipping and handling. You should have went digital download if you wanted it today (on Steam). They've been processing orders the last 5 days.

Once that happens (release day), we'll know, but I would suggest having a credit card as backup if you want the online play features.

  5. I sugggest pre-ordering from Steam ( http://www.steampowered.com ), especially if you're a PC Gamer. Steam is a product from Valve (makers of the Half Life series) and it is THE benchmark for purchasing and maintaining games over the internet. If you buy CitiesXL from there, you can "pre-load" the game now, downloading it, and when it releases, it unlocks the game for you to use.
  6. Will Monte Cristo work with the community?

They haven't even tried to sell the product from the MMO point of view. There's like 3 things that they've said you'd get if you pay the $6 a month, and those 3 things haven't even been demo'd to people who didn't get the opportunity to play the beta/demo. I wish they'd just come clean and tell us whats included where before we have to find out ourselves and about it harder than ever when we find out. :\
  7. Will Monte Cristo work with the community?

I pre-ordered, and that $40 from me and many other people should support them financially long enough to show me that they are worth investing more in. Taking things away does not turn me on that they are a good company. I love the city building genre, but lets face it: If you take away from the community from their ORIGINAL PURCHASE, the community will take their funding away and a company will die. Thats what happens when you release a crippled product. Monte Cristo, if they really wanted money AND a happy consumer base, would release a game whole, let the community lap it up and love it, and then add a pay Downloadable Content multiplayer pack. Maxis' SimCity did not become big by taking things away. But what do I know. They're losing money, not me.

You have so much unused space that you can only fill in with the hideous parks they give you if your lucky. The one size fits all square lots really ruin the game in my opinion, especially for the curved roads. quote> It's like all these developers are in California or something - have they ever been to Boston? Smaller cities in Britain? Most of these cities have existed for hundreds if not thousands of years. Every road is curved and cobbled and buildings are built around them. THAT should be a true option in a city building game. But square roads are easier to code for. Edited unecessary comment.
  9. The Planet Offer (Includes POLL)

Seriously - who is going to pay £30 for a game and then an additional £180 over 5 years for the ability to catch a bus?quote> This is what I'm thinking, right here. I pre-ordered this, but I know I'm getting a BETA product that won't have everything that the producers wanted in it for release, and then I have to get a SUBSCRIPTION to get updates to a product. I won't play online just for that. I'll gladly pay to play single player, and did. Also, Monte Cristo will be losing money rather than making it on this endeavor at $6/mo. The majority of gamers, as far as my research has gone, won't pay $6/mo for instanced RTS gameplay like this. They might pay $2 to show off their city because thats pocket change to them, and a lot more players would sign up for it. Sure, you'd need 3 players for every 1 at $6/mo, but they could get that and then some at a "measly" [profitable] $2 per month. Oh well, I'll wait on that. Edited for derogatory bashing. --Liv CXL Forums Moderator
