Hi, I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and then re-installed citiesxl. Now, the game client says I gotta download 397 MB worth of updated in order to play. It starts downloading and after sometime it just says "Download Failed (18,0)". Please help me identify and solve this problem. Thanks I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on a 256 kbps connection.

Hi I was playing in Planet Mode when suddenly the planet lost the connection and I was logged out. I lost 3000 citizens!! Without warning! I hope this random connection lost doesnt happen too often. Any idea if the time interval between the planet save can be reduced to a more less time ?

Hi You can e-mail your queries to the support people. The e-mail ID should be in one of the order confirmation e-mails. I am sorry but the issues you have stated don't seem to be an issue with the "game" itself. 1 & 2) I faced absolutely no issue with the installation. It went very smooth. I have un-installed this game and installed it twice without any problem whatsoever. 3) I have opened the main cities xl page in IE, Firefox and Chrome and was never asked about the loading of unsecure items. If you are using IE, check your IE settings. 4) It does say to check your e-mail after you have registered. Just underneath the menu, a solid blue box is displayed and its clearly written that you can proceed to check your e-mail. I agree it maybe a bit smaller in size but it is there. 5) While you were registering, you may have noticed that theres a difference between your nickname and username. Nickname is used on the cities xl website and in the chat in the Planet Mode and Username is what is used to login into the game. While you are entering your nickname, you can enter upper case letters, and if you noticed, when you try to enter uppercase letters in the username box, it automatically converts the whole username to lowercase text. 6) umm..kinda irrelevant. I find the "If I wasn't so used to these types of things, I would have no idea what was wrong" line funny. Cmon dude, every account creation for anything nowdays requires the person to validate the account from the e-mail. It is a security measure to ensure the e-mail is valid. 7) The email clearly, and in a decent sized font says, You are 1 click away from activating your Cities XL account! n order to verify your email address, please click on Click here to validate your email address below. 9) I agree. It should have been Connect. But every company has its reasons. Frankly I do not care if its connection or connect or click here to login. Maybe they will correct this with a patch or something.

That trainer would be quite useful for solo players if they wanna play around in a sandbox mode kinda gameplay with almost infinite money

I think the CD keys are to be sent out by MC itself. Atleast thats what happened in my case. I sent them an e-mail stating that I haven't received the CD key and they told me that the key would be mailed to me by the distributor and not by MC whereas in the e-mails from the distributor it was stated that I will be sent the key via e-mail but they didn't specify if they themselves will send them or MC. So, after about a 5 e-mail conversation with MC, it was confirmed to me that TMP Direct will send me the game and MC will send me the key via e-mail which I received the next day. I created my account, the confirmation e-mail came instantly , I entered my CD key and now I have a working Cities XL account.

I logged onto the SE client and downloaded and installed all the updates and now when I click on the exe file, Vista just says it has stopped working. I have no clue what to do now. I am using Vista 64. I have tried running the application using Win XP compatibility mode and as an admin but still nothing. Please help EDIT 2 : Everything works now. Needed a graphics driver upgrade

Hi, I received my cd key an di was successful in creating and confirming my account. Now, it might be a while until my copy of the Limited Edition arrives because of the Columbus Day in the US and the general speed of USPS. So, my question is, can I grab the standard edition copy from my friend, install it, login with my account username and play the planet offer 7 day trial and when my Limited Edition arrives, I can un-install the standard edition and play the limited edition. Will this work? or will it create some security issue?

Yea that I can do when I get my LE Edition cos LE edition has 5 additional maps and what not. So for now, I can just play the game in sandbox mode or try the PO using a SE client. I just hope my CD key doesnt get "locked" or something

It might have a value if MC works to produce good content every month. For example, they provide you with new buildings which replaces the existing buildings so that no two of your large hotels look the same or maybe release some nex texture maps for the roads which changes them to little weathered / dirty state depending on the traffic load it carries. So if all that happens, the city o a PO subscriber will look much nicer than the city of the single player person and he will atleast think once to get himself a PO subscription. Atleast I will.

So you are saying that the keys for Standard Edition and Limited Edition are different? In my account page on the website it shows a 7 day trial of PO. I already have a working account. Does it matter if its a Standard Edition or a Limited Edition client I am using? Edit : I have my own CD key. I just want to borrow his copy, login with my account and try the game for a few hours.

I have been reading about the PO on many threads and on the official website and can't understand the fact that only PO people will receive extra content! Non PO people also paid for the game! They did not get it for free! And if they do release the additional content for Solo players, then it should be priced at exactly the same amount PO subscribers paid to get it. What they can do is that at the end of each month, MC can allow the single players to buy off the additional content released in that specific month for $ 9.25 regardless of number of extra content released in that month. This might probably end up encourage players to buy 2 or 3 month PO subscriptions (a good thing for MC) cos then they would be getting a bargain by paying $14.95 or $18.95 to get the whole 2 or 3 months extra content and also the ability to trade amongst each other whereas the single players will be paying $18.5 for 2 months and $27.75 for 3 months worth of additional stuff. This might help steer the single players to get the PO Subscriptions and make MC release buy worthy additional content each month for single players to buy.

Monte Cristo is so funny that it has left me speechless! I finally got the response from MC about the CD key and they told me that I will receive my key via mail and NOT e-mail by TMP Direct as it is their North American distributor and MC cannot interfere with TMP's business (fair enough to a certain extent) . I replied to them stating that in all the confirmation e -mails from TMP Direct it was clearly mentioned that I will receive the key via e-mail. To which MC replied that I must be mistaken because the distribution method of the keys via mail for North America and Canada has been there during the beginning! So, I attached those confirmation e-mails and send them to MC and guess what!!?..They replied, " we confirm that you will receive the game via mail and the cd key via e-mail." LOL! I am just speechless!! and kinda giggly..haha EDIT: got the final word I will be receiving the cd key via e-mail. The only question remains is ..how soon

just got off the Cities XL website and seems like they are having some issues with the trade and they are "working round the clock" to fix it. Hellooooo MC!! how bout working round the clock to fix the issue of CD keys? or even acknowledging that there is in fact an issue!

either that or they have decided to just ignore everyones e-mails from the past 2 days !

I seriously dont think MC will be working with the community. The company who launches a game on friday and then shuts down its studio for saturday and sunday is definitely not serious either about the game or the gamers.

I wonder what would happen if it was the other way around. Getting the disc and the key first and then sayin..yea we will send you the money "shortly". just a random thought.
