the game is running slow. stutter when scrolling
rcash posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I just reinstalled, SC4 deluxe, and on the biggest size region everything is running slow? My specs are way more than good enough AMD Kuma 7750be @2.7ghz 4Gig DDr800 Geforce 8800gt 512mb I do you the custom resolution of 1440x900, but that's what I used about a year ago, with my athlon 4200+ at 2.6 ghz?? and I dont remember it ever stuttering until the whole map was full of high density. could it be the way I'm forceing the resolution? What I did was create a shorcut and added the command line to the end of the target " -CustomResolution:enabled -r1440x900x32 " ?? -
it's cheating but, hears a way to do it without having to pay for it. for access to the trarraforming tools, hold CTRL+ALT+SHIFT and click on the sun icon in the lower left menu. to make the circles smaller, hold CTRL, if that's not small enough zoom in, and the circle will get smaller.

Have you tryd the affore mention statement above, Unistallit and run a your virus program, and a spyware program (adaware is free and great for that), then reinstall it. Also what kind of harddrive and size do you use, also how much free space was on it when you installed the game. Seems like you might of just got a corrupted file that would normaly tell the game what is supposed to go in those boxes. Also is the disc scratched?

I'm mystefyd even more now, I went ahead and in my biggest city (the center one) and put a bustop at every corner, it aleaveated so much congestion, but im shocked cause 80% of they're jobs are in another region yet, theres no busstops there, but i have 2K busses leave the region. Do i not need to put stops, at the end of the route if its not in the same region?

Well in that case I'm gonna go start slapping down busses, before i spread out to far. And yeah I try to make my cities look real to, but its so hard to keep up with it, I really tried getting away from the grid in my first region, but you can tell, the later parts of it were thrown in real quick with squares to catch up with the massive demand I had at one point. My next region I might do just, for looks, now that I'm finally getting a little bit of high wealth demand, maybe a small mountianous region, I'll make it like my home here in the san juans.

I finally settled on a region, and have gotten the biggest city i've had so far, ever since I bought this game, way back when rush hour first came out. The population isnt anywhere near what I've had it, I think I just hit 50K+ region population. I've had several that were in the 300K region range, but they all had medium - high density zonning (something I think was dooming my cities). I just spread into my 3rd region, and have started to seperate, industry from my commercial and residential. wich is bringing up alot of questions about the mechanics of the game. Theres alot of transportation questions here, so to let you know, I use the newest NAM plugins. 1:: What milestone, (or what) do you guys use to tell you you should start upping the density of your residential? Usually I would only of played in one region (I'm still stuck on old school simcity) So I would start build high density in the first region i made way before ever even starting a new region. But those regions always went bankrupt eventually, trying to manage power, water, garbage, fire and schools in one city was always a dissater. 2:: mass transit, when do you guys start this? I havnt done a single thing of mass transit, though i have started to grid out avenues to the harder to reach areas, and have a main highway that connects my three regions. 3:: actually part 2 of the last question, with mass transit, (mainly busses) do there effects spread across the region, such as bus stops, can people get on them in one region and get off in a nnother region? 4:: Traveling across multiple regions, I'm curious how far will sims travel from home to work, can i put industrial jobs, 3+ regions away and expect they will travel there by highway? I'm assuming so cause I think my newest city has people working in the industry 2 regions away, but they might just be working in the commercial in they're own region, or the immediate neighbor. 5:: Base nesseccities for r$$ and r$$$... Is there a chart somewhere, that can tell me the base nessecity to make these people happy and want to move in, the reason I ask is cause I want to have certain levels of wealth in seperate cities, (I do use taxes to influence this), But I dont want to spend money on something for r$$ if they dont need it to be happy?? 6:: If I got a city that I plan on making medium - high density, would it be a nessecity to plan out the transportation network for it beforehand, Usually I dont do this more than pre placing the neighbor connections? Also what are good tips for road placements in high density cities? Mine always got congested so quick, unless i use avenues all over the place and put a bus stop at ever corner. 7:: mass transit parking garage... How do these work? How do they have to be place? Usually i would just place bus stops every other block depending on the density of the area, and every block by the jobs they travel to. But I thought the garages would help reduce the amounts of bus stop in residential areas dramatcally, but nonoe really seem to go to them, and the areas I removed bus stops, people just drove to work. 8:: Were can I find the capacities of each road type? 9:: one i forgot to add, how does taxation work in this simcity, is it based on the amount of people in each building, and how is industrial and commercial taxes commputated?
