What's the best way to find someone to sell power/water to?
dirtyoldman replied to dirtyoldman's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Yes, I use the wind towers also. I place water towers at the narrow end of the zones and place wind towers, as needed, accross the wide part of the zone. When power runs out, you can see just where you need to add new towers. When the water runs out, same thing. Adding new units right up against the waisted unit, restores output. Makes it easy to maintain power/water. -

The way you say it, sounds very logical. But I'm having a tough time, getting my head around the concept of going into another city's business office and authorizing the spending their money. Isn't that illegal??? (A little humor there) If there were a wealthy city, available on one of the existing region maps, then I could build my city next to it and, (in the "easy" mode), they would offer me deals to purchase my Power/Water and/or offer to pay me to take away their garbage. If such deals would be available, earlier in my city's life, I could then have time to slowly learn to limit my city's spending. Having "next month's estimated balance" always be about $2,000 less than the current months balance, no matter what I do, is an impossible hurtle to overcome! Totally discouraging! Maybe there is a "region" map, that I could down load, with well established successful cities available, up and running, that I could "nestle" up to and take advantage of their wealth? Or, when I select "easy" mode for my new city, that would secretly make such a situation available. (I can dream, can't I? I really Appreciate your responding to my dilemma. Meanwhile, guess I should start gathering up some campaign money so I can get ready to run for Senator. (a little more humor there) Do you think my suggestions would interest the management of this magnificent game? -

But, how am I supposed to know, when my neighbor wants some extra power, or extra water??? I really get tired of constantly going to "income" to see if there has been any requests for a deal. Sometimes, someone offers to "buy" my garbage, and that is announced, but it is so easy to create a garbage dump, who would spend precious money to have it hauled away? -

But that's my problem. How do I know if there is a city wanting power or water, and which side of me is he on? Thought I remembered the "Strategy Guide" suggesting to build some extra plants and make the output available to the neighbors, which is supposed to let them know that I'm offering the service. Otherwise, I never get any offers for deals, and have to continually check to see if there are any offers. Oh! . . . Just noticed The "message Title:" It's displayed on the top of this page, and I see that it is in "all caps". Sorry, will try & remember that it isn't necessary. Thought I needed to have it STAND OUT or no one would notice it. I will eventually learn. Thank you for coaching me. You did a fine job of describing the subject of the topic, that in itself will draw attention. tungston -

I Don't understand. Where did I use "all caps"? I'm very new to all this, so I welcome suggestions. But don't think I used "all caps" anywhere. I edited the title of the topic to remove the "all caps". tungston -

I build extra power plants, and "connect" with my neighbor, but seldom find a buyer. Which quickly pollutes my city and causes it to go broke sooner. When I first build a city next door, it's never successful, so it can't afford to buy power. How can my city earn money so my Sims don't have to strike and want to throw me out. I would make a bad Senator. Please do not use "all caps", that would include the title of the topic. tungston
