Post on xln that you may find of interest: http://xlnation.net/content/cities-xl-platinum-confirmed? In short, new paid dlc, free update to modding tools, free 2012 patch. Enjoy

CXL Official Forum is down. This has been reported to Focus. I will pass on any updates I receive.
-
Focus have confirmed that they believe the problems are now fully solved. (crosses fingers)
-
My guess is that it's a database problem. Focus' other forums are working, so I doubt the server is dead (although maybe a virtual one is)
-
Oops, down again, sorry chaps.
-
Just come back up for some users. Please reply if you are still experiencing problems.
-
...And it's up again. Hoping problems now completely solved.
-
Sorry for triple post. It's dead again. Will update when I know more. (edit) Focus have now confirmed that they are working on the problem.
-
Forum seems to be working again. Fingers crossed.
-
As of this morning, there appears to be an outage on the www.citiesxl.com forum. I have reported this to Focus and will be in touch once I have more information.
-
Hey SenceX, Hopefully this is now working for you. If not, please can you try clearing your cache or using a different browser? Many thanks, Tom.
-
Apologies for the double post - the forums now work again (rapidly crosses fingers...) (edit) I have received reports that users in some locations still can't access the forum. The usual tricks like clearing cache don't seem to work, so there may well still be some localised problems. If this affects you, please post here (include your CXL.com forum name and your country) so that we can get an idea of where the problem is. Many thanks, Tom.
-
Hey everybody. Firstly, apologies for not posting here earlier - we believed that the outage would be much shorter than it actually was. I have been in contact with Focus' community manager, Vince, who has explained that the people who host the forum for them (and in fact other forums IIRC) have a serious server bug that they are trying hard to fix. The forums are expected to be back online at some point this weekend, but like all such things, until you've actually solved the problem, any estimate is really only a guess! To answer some theories I have seen in this thread: (i) This wasn't a planned outage - we would have been told about that. (ii) This wasn't spam prevention development gone wrong, whilst we are always looking for tools that strike the right balance between stopping spam and allowing real people to use the forum without difficulty, we have not had undue problems with spam recently (i.e. no more than every forum has all the time) (iii) This certainly wasn't an attempt to "hide the truth" whilst the Steam sale was on. If that was the case, it would happen much more often as the game seems to be always on sale somewhere. It's just a server fault, nothing more or less. Expect to see us back soon. In the meantime, thank you for your patience.

We've put a warning up about mods and therefore modded content in your cities. We don't know what will / won't work and we'd hate for you to lose your cities. The not at all official advice is here: http://forum.citiesxl.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2322&start=10#p25148

Who has emailed Focus Home Interactive?
mr-tom replied to Ny24's topic in Cities XXL Technical Issues
For what it's worth, I do think that they need to tighten up on their tech support - the "no reply" or "wait a week" is becoming a very familiar story. I've written to Focus to (tactfully) start discussing tech issues with them. We shall see where that goes. (edit) I can't see that I'll manage to change something so major, but even if there's a route in for us to get lists of the things that actually worked for specific issues, it would help us to compile a better FAQ. -
This is a thread for the unlocker mod, which Globexco said weeks ago was very nearly ready for release and that FHI's agreement was the main obstacle to this. So yes, I stand by my previous comment.
-
Well they can't release anything until FHI say they can. It's been some weeks now and FHI have been happy to talk about other things, but seemingly not about this. Draw your own conclusions...
-
Yep. No way around that, and expecting it to be the same in CXL 2011 when that launches too, so don't go getting your hopes up!

Focus Home Interactive Support of CXL 2011
mr-tom replied to Livin in Sim's topic in Cities XXL Technical Issues
Just a quick note. Having exchanged a few emails with FHI on another matter, I brought this up. Here's the reply: About the support of the original Cities XL I will be honest, it will be very hard for us to do. Support for the 2009 game was handled by Monte Cristo Games, who, as you know, (sadly) disappeared. While we'll do our best to answer the inevitable questions that will rise, this is also a reason we need people from the community who have a good knowledge of the game. They subsequently did say that product activation is a different matter and they weren't aware of problems with it. They've since begin addressing these either informally in the tech support area of their new forum, or I think more appropriately at support@focus-home.com Please don't take this as official notification - I'm just trying to be helpful. Tom. -

Practicalities. The game can be set to run on an idle core, so that at least your machine is using more of its capability. I find it unlikely that focus will have the wherewithal to make the game work with multiple CPUs. Even if MC had not died, this would have been optimistic. What we could do is to ask them to set the game to run on one of the latter cores, which it seems reasonable to assume will be significantly less utilised on most people's machines. I think this is likely to be the best that we can reasonably look forward to.
