  1. Commute time and demand problems

Ok ive increased taxes on R$$$ to stop development. R$$ (idk if i should allow development or stop as well), R$ is taken a bit long to grow. Heres a graph photo of my Jobs/Pops. Top is R$ second R$$ and so on. Pretty much i need to keep a balance with all these? One line? If i increase jobs way over the R, would i still get longer commute? NOTE that this graph does NOT include the HT / M and Farm / Dirty, those are on a diff city that is connected to my City / Home HT/M = 26,000 (Mix in its own city) , Dirty = 23,000 (Own city) , Farm = 720 (Own city
  2. Commute time and demand problems

So pretty much to get a big city, i dont need to mess with the tax (which starts at 9%)? The education on my graph shows 160.
  3. Commute time and demand problems

Wouldnt population drop if i start messing with design of the city? Ok i will raise the tax for the R$$$. 1) Should i bother changing take for Commercial jobs? 2) When should I lower the tax for R$$$?
  4. Commute time and demand problems

The reason that your commute time raises is that there are more people living in your city, this will cause more traffic which causes traffic jams. Since your 'supply' will stay the same it will affect the demand on R$ if you lower your taxes for R$$ and R$$$. People of these incomes will live in those area's after all. Furthermore, about the question you asked Piano Man. If you make new zones less desirable to live in, it will get more people with a lower income. Not giving them education, health care, a bus stop every block, a park etc. will cause that there won't be any people with a R$$ and R$$$ income. Instead, the demand will cause that there will live people with a low income instead. If your demand of R$ is low, you will have to give them education, health care etc. So how will this work? I should raise the taxes slightly for R$$/$$$ to bring in more R$? But wouldnt that cause a problem to the R$$/$$$? As for the 2nd one, if i leave education for all R, will it cause R$ to leave the city?
  5. Commute time and demand problems

@LTW, Thanks =) and when i first started creating the city split, the commute time was under 1 and commute was short. Idk if thats what causes long commute. As for tax, would it be a problem to have all R to have the exact same level of taxation or will it cause an affection between each R$ / R$$ / R$$$? @Piano Man, I have demolished some areas, but i dont see much growth of R$. What if I didnt have education for them, would it allow growth for them?
  6. Commute time and demand problems

Heres a few shots of the city. Its not the best since im just doing it as a test till i get it right. If you also want the Industrial photos, please ask!
  7. Commute time and demand problems

Ill load up a photo. And yeah I have the NAM activated, but the longer commuter is causing some of my homes to become abounded.. The commute is between 30-40
  8. Hey its me again! Commute: Pretty much most of my R/C mixed city is hitting problems with commute time. I have about 106,000 population. When i mess with the tax system most places go short and others go long. (Idk if this the case, but the tax for R are well below 6.5% same for C) I have plenty of transportation, subway system, railroad and bus floating around both the city and residential area. Demand. There is HIGH demand for R$ / R$$ with R$$$ around 0, R$ below, R$$ going up and down the line and R$$$ , A/I/M/HT below the line as well. (I already have a HT/M city, Dirty city and Farm). Anyways.. Is there a way to get this fixed? Im not good with playing with the tax system. I heard theres a MOD for commute time as well to fix the commute time issues?? Hopefully I can resolve this because otherwise, I may end up starting a fresh region with City / Residential only.
  9. Sorry for the late reply. I decided, to remove Dirty from my HT/M city and create a Dirty only city and farm as well. Tho i dont see many people trying to work in the Farm area. Moved the Power Plants to Dirty as well as Garbage. Pumping stations is in the R/C and HT/M Cities. While i share water to the rest. Heres how it looks: Im also having a problem which lead all my demand for R$$$ , C / I to drop below 0, except R$ / R$$ (Which is high). I had a few gaps between city, which i deleted a bunch of my old "test" cities, which then caused a decline in the above. I have taxes set diffrently in the cities. Example 6.0 in the Dirty City, HT/M, R/C city. Idk why the demand dropped, theres jobs all over the place.. Commute time is at around 26 for the R/C. Any fixes for this? Thanks! So pretty much, I dont need to really build any Industry / Farms around to get the city growing big?
  10. I have dirty mixed with M/I. The R/C is in its own city and farms is in its own as well. If I add dirty to the R/C city, wouldn't that cause high pollution to develop and cause a drop on demand for R/C?
  11. Hey there, Ive been playing around with SC4 to see if I can get things right on growing my cities, since cities Ive made dont grow skyscraper buildings around 100k pop. My current city (test) (Mixed with Commercial and Res. is about R = 40,000 population , C= 25,000), and my other for Industry (D/M/H) about 26k. (I know its a long way to get big buildings, but the many times Ive tried to go over 100k, I dont see much progress) My Question is, how do I get my city to grow more. I notice Commuter time jumps from about 8-45. Idk if that has something to with causing longer commuter time for most of my homes. Taxes are low (6.0) around. 2) Do I really need Dirty Industry? Im trying to create an entire Hightech / Manufacturing Industry. The taxes around 6.0 (11 for dirty). If you need any photos ill load. I have NAM tool installed as well.
  12. Getting my City to grow on SC4.

Both towns are watered, There is air pollination from the Coal Plant, but i moved it to the edge of the city For the Water its polleted a bit my the farms My income is at 6000 and expenses is at 7000, im trying to get it to the opposite. Q1) For lowing the tax for residential, is it for all 3 or just High wealth? Q2) Do i keep the taxes high for Dirty to help keep pollution down?
  13. Getting my City to grow on SC4.

Not the best city, but its just a test so i can get the hang of it once i get it straightened: Connecting Industrial Town (Left of City Test)
  14. Getting my City to grow on SC4.

How does this resolve my issue with the demand level for both R / C staying within the border line of demand and no demand. The Industry is still a demand even tho i removed my Manufactures from my R / C city and only left farms. I have the NAM installed as well.
  15. Hey guys, been playing SimCity for years and I'm trying to get my city to grow with skyscrapers and so on. I've had cities over 95,000 population and some skyscrapers would appear even tho development for new residential was impossible due to commute time. I did some research and came across this thread on the net: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Successful-Region-in-Sim-City-4 I created 2 test cities, 1) for Resdential and Commercial (with 2-4 farms) and the other Industries. The commute time improved a lot with "Short" commute appearing in many of the homes i have around, since i got connection Railroad access and lots of bus stops.. however, Commercial offices and services were below the line in the RCI, only going up slightly for those of C$ and a tiny bit for C$$$ which I can't figure out how to get things working. I've lowered taxes to around 5.9% for the C$$$ office/Service and boosted the the Dirty Industry demands tax and lowered the tax for R$$$. Still nothing.. Even added Smith Towers and parks around. I have 2 RR connections and 2 Street connections to my Industrial town.. I don't know if its the sims that want to work in the industry or not? In my previous games i would place RCI in the same city but Industries/Farms toward the other corner of the city which I got demand for Commercial and services, but now in this new city its a no.. So far I have 27,000 + in the new city, even when speed the game up it doesn't do much. Hope i can get some assistance from my fellow gamers! Thanks =)!
