Similar to the garbage chute that dumps trash over the edge, but it handled more and I believe was only 1 tile big. I recently lost all of my downloads on my computer. Thanks. The one I'm looking for is also one tile, has a garbage truck sitting next to a hole in the ground that is pretty much flush with the ground itself (none of the fancy hole things like this one has).

The BAT/GMAX files for these two are over 5MBs together, so I think it might be a good idea if someone could possibly spare/donate a few MBs worth of online file storage for us to be able to upload & host these sorts of things for others to download & work on.quote> I have some spare web space and such that I would be happy to donate. Just PM me the information and I'll set everything up. SantoS

Has anyone thought of making a functioning drawbridge? ie, it opens at intervals for ship traffic and allows control of opening/closing via UDI (much like the track switches for the trains).

Date: 7/20/2004 10:47:57 AM Author: Two things. a) It's a road, not a highway. Guess the median confused you? b) Banked highways weren't something I had originally thought about, as this is for an on-off ramp type thing for double networks, but I'll talk to Tropod about that.quote> Oh ... my bad. It was a road. Yeah, the median confused me, as well as what looked to be highway lines. But either would be good!

I must say, Builderman, that the banking highway (it is a highway, right) looks awesome. That could add a lot of realism to building the major artery roadways, since it seems we can only build simple straight & diagonal highways. During my travels through the northeast usa, especially in cities, the highways are not as straight as can be (think I84 in Hartford). Good job. Can't wait to see if it can be in the mod. -SantoS

Would anyone consider single lane one way roads? The double lane one way roads are great for cities, but in the burbs, these are rare. Thoughts? And I plan to start getting into batting (I've already looked over the basics) so barring any unforseen difficulties, I may be able to assist. -SantoS
  8. Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase

Thanks for your response. I re-downloaded the Clark and demolished the old buildings and this still exists. Anyone know what would cause a building to grow on too big of a lot?? SantoS
  9. Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase

Hi Guys... First off... Great job on all your buildings PDA. Lovely job. My only problem is with the Clark Tower. It works nicely when plopped, but it doesn't grow for me for some reason. Take a look at the 2 pics hosted off site... Any ideas? SantoS

Date: 7/5/2004 2:58:47 PM Author: WOAH!! How did you do that? Last time I tried (earlier today) it wasn't possible to have intersections like that. quote> the Monkeys Uncle: This feature has been in since April (according to the change log). To quote Tropod in his log, In order to build this intersection, draw the one-way road last and draw it only to/from the tile next to the road/avenue intersection. Meaning, after the avenue is placed, draw the normal road to connect to the avenue and cause a traffic light to be placed. Next, draw the one way road, but do not overlap the avenue. You should see the animation 'connect' the one-way to the avenue to make it flow. Let me know if you need more help. -SantoS- Edit: Just wanted to add ... punkz6, I love the look of that sunken highway. I haven't tried that yet, but I should soon. Did you use the hole digger lots to make the sunken highway path? I'd like to start makin them.

Cactaur55: Thanks for your suggestion/reply. However, I barely hit the tile before the intersection and my mission fails. I haven't tried it without the snap-to-road thingy on yet though. Hopefully someone can figure out why it happens b/c it'll probably be easier than trying to remember to switch off snap to road during missions (the few I do try to complete.... the snap helps with towering buildings around the roads). FireSka: I too noticed that little bug, but just dismissed it. Seems that for some of the road items, the buldozer can never be selected unless you click on another menu first. Happy 4th. -SantoS-
  12. NAM General Discussion Thread

I'm using the 07.02.04 version of the NAM (yes, I know what it is ... but i'll take the hundred simoleons ). Anywho, I was wondering why on earth I was failing my UDI missions. It was mind boggling. I would be driving and then all of a sudden, for no reason, the mission failed. Well, I think I found out the reason. Please take a look at the following picture, hosted off site: The image shows a one way and a normal road intersecting with an avenue. For some reason, when I am on the one way road approaching the intersection, the mission fails (yellow circle). I know the NAM added this functionality, so I'm hoping someone could tell me why this is happening and if anyone else experienced this before. SantoS

Hmm...I have no idea what that dude is talkin about above me. Anywho, the main reason for my post. Is it possible to create streets that connect to other streets without creating stop signs? Reason asking ... I try to create developments where I want a few right-of-way streets and I can't, b/c each intersection has a stop sign. Ideas?

Tropod, I have attached the perfect pathfinding plugin. Thanks for looking into this for me. Also, I noticed that the new interchange that was created has solid lane lines in both directions instead of dashed. That image is hosted off site, so it should be speedy. Let me know if I did something or is that how the interchange is supposed to be. Thanks, SantoS
  15. NAM General Discussion Thread

Hi Folks. I've been registered for awhile but have been following this thread since it was first created. I must say, awesome job to everyone who contributed. I bought SC4 on preorder way back when and the game is nothing compared to the additions you guys created. I don't think the great cities I see everyone creating in city journals could be made without your contributions. So, a big thank you! But my main reason to post is because I noticed a little quirk. I remember someone else posting about it previously in this thread, but when I search I get timeout errors. So please pardon for asking again. Ever since I started using the NAM most, if not all, of my sims drive. I mean, I like it that they use my bridges/tunnels I've built, but I was getting loads of money from transit fares. Now, they rarely use it and the transit fares I get don't really help that much. Is there a reason why the sims now drive as their first preference than to take mass transit that is right next door to their big apartment building? Thanks, SantoS
