  1. Subways Hardly Work

Dont give them an alternative. I have a subway station on most C and I blocks and one for every 16 blocks R with a parking garage. It has a much bigger capacity than busses and as far as i know brings in a lot more money when you have 90% of your sims using it
  2. I'm not an expert but im experimenting with cities using only subways. I've built on one of the larger tiles and just started on a smaller one next to it and most of the RCI demand is full. I have level 8 buildings already and i've only used about a third of the space. My education is around 190 too and thats just with a large elementary and a city college and 2 private schools =D
  3. Building Levels

a tip for everybody. if you leave the game running and do something, DO NOT build hydrogen power stations. What is the deal with them wearing out so quickly?
  4. Building Levels

thanks for that list. shame they dont go any bigger
  5. Stagnated

Super demand mod is just an easy way out. I got a city to 550,000 without using it and i've only been playing a few weeks. It must be a problem with your planning. Check your congestion if your roads are really bad i suggest building subways. If your population is 200k there should be no problem as my subway system is bringing in $9000 a month and only spending 4000
  6. My latest city has no avenues and no highways. I have found by using subways instead, you get very few traffic problems and can turn over a nice profit when your city goes over 100k people. I have 200k people now and 10 million in the bank. Has anybody else tried this? I've read on the forums about 'level 7 buildings' and such. I was wondering if there was a list of which buildings come under which level. And when it says in the manual that you must increase traffic for high wealth commercial buildings does it have to be road traffic? All of my subway stations are above 50% capacity and some have 10,000 people using them, its just not feasible to have all those people on the road and it will cause chaos. My largest commercial buildings are Chong Inc and Khoury Art Foundation Buiulding. Do they go much bigger?
  7. The 2 most important things that should be different to SC4 are Commuting and zones. The grid should be changed too cause i play so much i can see it a grid for half hour after i stop playing. Commuting where to start ? I dont like that buildings are abandoned to commute time. the commuting was all wrong on SC4, since when did it take 30 minutes to walk 100 yards let alone going in a car or a 'High Speed' monorail. Maybe if commute time is too long they should have people losing their jobs or having an effect on crime rate. I think we should have more ordinances to encourage particular means of transport. Zones I have briefly looked through this thread and i definitely think RCI needs to be more elaborate. more degrees of density are a must, we should have more super skyscrapers, SC4 was badly limited to buildings of around 2,000 people because whenever you built up a strong enough zone, the commute times were so long. there should be the options to build council offices, larger police stations, fire stations etc. maybe these could be zoned too with a zone for government buildings and use TAB to change the type. What i think would be awesome as somebody has already suggested is national parks. I think Green belt zones are a must and maybe have some zones that expand on their own as demand grows with options to limit this. i could think of plenty of other changes but those are the main ones
